She wouldn't be able to defend the nuke... Or maybe she would hold the geth with her provocotive questions, until they start to punch her, and waste some more time, so maybe it could work after all.

they'l probably turn her to plasma and while they do it, they don't notice the nuke going off till it goes boom.

Given that I want the story & Virmire to tug at me and not be easy, especially when it comes to choices then ...

Male Shepard: Ashley & Tali decision

Female Shepard: Kaidan & Wrex decision

The final decision is always left to a coin toss so that even my Shepard (me) does not control everything. 

If Liara were an option she would replace Kaidan.

Picking someone you can't stand isn't what Virmire was about. It was suppose to be about loss of a teammate.
The first time that I played Virmire it  hit me in the gut and I couldn't believe that both could not be saved.

You know, being a tech expert, it makes sense that she could be left with the bomb. More sense than Kaidan or Ashley, anyways.

This seems like the most logical choice, but even if Tali would go along with it (she surely would), it would be pretty ****ed up of Shepard to pick this young quarian girl on her rite of passage into adulthood, taking her away from her friends and family. It may not even be possible for them to get closure, if Shepard has no link to the flotilla afterwards.

I hate the Virmire choice. My three favourite squaddies are Kaidan, Wrex, and Ashley - and they can all die on Virmire. From the point of view of characters I wouldn't mind losing if I got to keep Kaidan and Ashley, Liara (pre-LotSB) would rate highest. That said, I think it makes most sense for the Virmire sacrifice to be made by an Alliance crewmember. Even though everyone who serves on the Normandy defers to Shepard's leadership, only the Alliance team took an oath. I feel that Shepard has more of a right to leave them to their deaths for the sake of the greater good, compared with some alien crewmembers who are not part of Alliance military structure.

I'd still leave Ashley to be honest. I did not like her in general, even when I went through with a romance with her in one playthrough (just to see if that would change my mind) I didn't like her. The romance scene actually just felt awkward.

I have to disagree because Feron and Cerberus would still be around, as well as any of the rest of ME1 crew that Feron and Ceberus could have come in contact with. Nothing really relied on Liara. Anyone could have slapped Feron around and escaped in the end on a ship back to Cerberus with Shepard's body. The entire rescue operation relied on Feron's intel and sacrifice, and Cerberus interest in reviveing Shepard . Liara was trying to make sure Shepard was not alive and would have left the body to rest. If Feron and Cerberus hadn't gotten involved with saving the body, the Shadow Broker would have lead Liara off into a dead end or could have sent someone to kill her.

The only thing that ever really relied on Liara was figuring out Ilos, which if you ask me is a really weak plot choice but whatever. The only thing that may make me believe she is of any real strong use to me is what she does as a Shadow Broker. Which at the moment doesn't look like much since she seems to be traveling with Shepard a lot judging by how much she appears in demo videos, articles, and advertisements. 

I'll just have to wait till ME3 to know for sure, but until then I would have liked to nuke Liara on my main Shepard.

My secondary Shepard I would have kept her for rping romance purposes, since that Shepard is a lesbian.

I would leave behind Miranda and Jack cuz mirandas a **** and jacks a psychopath
