I've heard that unhardened Alistair is extremely unhappy about being made king so I was wondering i the opposite ws true as well; that if you harden him he'll be unhappy with you if you don't support his claim to the throne? I mean can you have a hardened Alistair and still get the grey warden ending where he rides off to continue on with being a warden along the PC? (<-and he hasn't broken up with her).
He might grumble a little, but sure, hardened Alistair Warden is doable. You just have to make the right choices at the Landsmeet.

But you can only get that if you have a mod that fixes that conversation, since it's bugged in vanilla and he keeps thinking he's king when he's not.

Warden: You're okay with Anora being queen?
Alistair: Barely. But better her than me, that's what I say.
A tiny grumble, if he's hardened, compared to the effusive and unconditional relief he expresses if he's not. I wouldn't un-mod my game to avoid it and get the bugged, incorrect dialogue instead, since it has no real impact on anything.

My favorite kind of man, really. As often said before, Alistair doesn't want to be king. At all. Hardened he is only more accepting of the role and it is a way for him to make ensure everything needed is done to end the Blight. He isn't trusting Anora to do that...or trusting her at all, because she is Loghain's daughter. Hence his instant claim for the throne after battling Loghain. But he is way happier as a Warden overall. Really.
Also he has an interesting line/reply when you are in a romance with him and say "You owe me" (for not making him king) Tehehehe xD

Really? I'll have to try that then.
Thanks for all the replies by the way!
