Personally I would rather if it had gone old school with the infiltrator and gives us a real knife.

A real knife would lack shock-value.

*Looks at Infiltrator image*
...Heh,shock value...

Who's to say it wouldn't if your fighting a Geth just stab the knife into a vital area maybe the eye.

They can't create all these separate animations for attacking different spots on different species, for just one class.

Since when is it ever that easy on Insanity....:crying:....^_^

I wouldn't know, since I only play on Normal. But I thought it was an insta-kill.

Definitely insta kill on Normal I reckon...B)...with electric currents zapping everywhere for the show.

True and I understand that and I'm not mad at what the Infiltrator has it looks pretty cool. I know the developers have limitations, but if I was able too at all I would just change it to a real knife.

I personally hate it, but I won't be using it anyways, I'll just be staying back using my sniper.

I have a system where I start out at long range taking out more powerful targets with my sniper rifle. I then move in cloaked with my SMG taking down the grunts and then I cloak and melee any stragglers so I'll end up using it quite a bit.

I'm usually fully ranged...Widow FTW!....:o...only generally CQC when I absolutely have to, but admittedly I definitely am looking forward to trying out that Omni Blade.

I am confused at what the Vanguard is using, it looks like some sort of weird omni electro-gauntlet thingy. I am down with the soldier's omni-blade though, can't wait to stab me some Cerberus operatives.

Please tell me the Vanguard didn't get stuck with the Omni-Boxing glove.

That's not the Vanguard attack... That's an early alpha of the whole omni-tool attack thing...

I'd say that it's a beta/alpha version of the Sentinel's heavy melee too.

As an engineer, my inner pyromaniac is happy.

I think I may be yelling "KILL IT WITH FIRE" a lot through ME3.

So... where is the Vanguard attack? I just wish to see it.

Will be interesting to see what they do to the vanguard, since they will get so much more mileage out of the melee attack. I guess they have to tone down the power and provide a reason to use the shotgun.

That's not the vanguard, that's the sentinel pre-upgrade (in game) or pre-alpha (in development).

Here's an earlier or basic version of the soldier's melee:

The Vanguard's melee, whatever it is, is going to be biotic, and will probably combo with charge.

Real knife plox. or bayonet. The way the different flavours are tied to classes make it seem like a fashion accesory. Does anyone think this is a COD type fad influence? I see it encouraging people to melee rather than shoot when his omnitool is somehow more powerful than guns. Shepard's elbow tap was already far too deadly. Also looking forward to the retcon, or maybe not. Heatsinks? Hahaha, just call ammo ammo please.

Dood, what did the description just tell you not to do?
Thanks though, I quite like the pistol whip actually. Another point for real knifes though: the lightsaber looked so impracticaly slow, it's now an uber attack instead of some stealth or ermegency weapon.

As an Engineer I am a bit disappointed by "my" melee: why?
I am a PS3 owner and I played ME2 only at hardcore & Insane and I know too well that fire is ineffective on synthetics' health so as a finisher move a Fire attack can't possible be universal.
Really if a fire melee can kill a Geth then why incinerate can't?
I would have like the Engineer to use an electric attack that can damage both organics and synthetics.

I think that you're thinking about it too hard, here.

Agreed.  That looks like a placeholder more than anything else.  I won't believe it's Vanguard footage until I see Shepard Charging across the map.

Why is anyone discussing the heavy melee for the Infiltrator or Vanguard as if we've seen either in action? Unless I'm missing something, all we've got to go off of is one screenshot we're assuming to be the Infiltrator's and nothing for the Vanguard yet. And to be honest, that electro-taser melee screenshot could have just been an early take on the Engineer's before they decided to go with fiery napalm death instead of electrocution: the animation seems similar.

But again, it's just a screenshot so who knows how lame or cool the full animation would actually be.
