To add longevity to the last game in the trilogy.

I really doubt it will, though. The mediocre first-attempt at multiplayer will be just that, mediocre, and people will stop playing it after a year, just like AC Brotherhood.

People here still talk about KotOR. Will MP acheive that longevity? Of course not.

A year is too generous. Try one month.

So multiplayer hasn't been confirmed and this is yet another thread where the OP has assumed ME3 will have multiplayer.

Oh yes, watching OTHER RPG nerds suck for 10m. matches because they're only multiplayer exp. comes from Starcraft and Halo Wars is much more rewarding.

Totally worth the $10 multiplayer pass huh buddy.

I guess/am hoping the co-op will be new characters battling for Earth (with Anderson as overall CO) happening whilst Shepard is off gathering allies in the single player. This would really deepen the overall experience for me - I'd be pretty happy (if I can find anyone to play with).

Exactly that. So much for the denials and the claims that they'll focus on the SP experience. Now I'll always wonder what has been scrapped in favor of MP.

It's not that I really mind its presence (if it's co-op anyway) but I mind the waste - as far as I'm concerned - of resources.

If it's true, and it doesn't have any effect on the game(the singleplayer, ie it's a different team altogether), then I suppose it won't be such a big problem. As of now there are greater problems, such as the possibility of being forced to use Origin to play.

Disappointed if this is true. Really hoped the 6 month delay would be to ensure story and character interaction got extra attention.

As to the "wasted resources" argument, Bioware Montreal has been working on some mystery MP project for quite sometime now, it is not a stretch to imagine this is the project they were working on. Two studios, one game, double the resources.
