Way to pander to the mainstream and sell out even more, BioWare.
*sigh* What a waste of a game series that had so much potential. It's gone from "epic" to "Epic fail"
Terror, allow me to be frank. We've had civil conversations here before and I'd like to continue to do so in the future. But right now, I can't resist the urge to state this:
You'll get over it.
You tend to leap on things, you often post in a manner that suggests ME2 was the biggest pile of disappointment you've ever stepped into and yet... I know that can't be completely true. I mean, why are you still here if so? And you do sometimes discuss aspects of ME2 that you genuinely enjoyed, anyway, if memory serves me correctly.
Retrospectively, you'll likely wind up doing the same with ME3. And if not... I'm sorry. I know I will.
Let me make it clear: I don't hate multiplayer in ME3 because I hate multiplayer, or because it's something I wouldn't use. I'll even admit that it could be done well. I hate multiplayer in ME3 because I feel it's unnecessary and a stupid thing to put into a single-player, story-driven series in the final part of a trilogy. It's a game where multiplayer doesn't belong, and on top of it all I simply feel that the resources and time spent on creating multiplayer of any kind will always better off going to making the single-player experience as good as possible. I've examined the concept from every angle I can and can see no reason to put it in beyond pandering. I really can't.
To quote myself from N7Academy on the topic (since copy/paste is quicker and easier than a rewrite):-
"I'm not saying multiplayer couldn't work, but that I just don't think it
should be in there. This is the final part of a thus-far single-player trilogy. It's not the time nor place to suddenly introduce MP into the franchise. Do it with a spin-off or a new series, not now. It would be railroading the trilogy, IMO. And the reasons for including it aren't good enough, no matter what they are. If it's there we all know it's going to be BioWare selling out and messing with things for the sake of growing the brand, and not for any actual[/i] improvements to the game.
The thing is, ME2 was already disappointing as hell when it came to import choices and the like, despite all the claims that our decisions would matter and make each playthrough feel unique. Too many emails, consequences that had no real impact at all (and really should have), weak substitutions resulting in things being essentially the same and stuff swept under the rug entirely. I already have doubts that BioWare are actually going to pull it off much better in ME3 despite their claims, so if multiplayer is in there I feel I'm just going to be looking at the main game and shaking my head."
