Bioware hasn't attempted MP in recent years - who is to say they won't kick **** at that, as well? Even if that requires some mild suspension of disbelief, do it. DO IT. Your blood pressure thanks you.
Uh, I want the best single-player experience possible, and that also involves NO MULTIPLAYER.

Pretty sure most 'pc gamers' have Steam installed. You'd be a fool not to have it with all those titles available.
Yes, they probably do have Steam. I have Steam and I'm on a Mac. If I had a PC, I'd be buying lots and lots of games. PC users buy PC games.

Just a thought, but if the game has online multiplayer, does this mean it will require Origin to install, irrespective of digital or retail purchase?

Okay, and I agree! But why does it have to be one or the other? You can have the best singleplayer ME3 experience even if the MP sucks, right?Lunatic LK47 wrote...

I accept the point that they may have had a different team on MP, and different funding from EA specifically to do MP, and if that is the case then I don't have an issue. I probably should phrased it as 'you can be quite sure' as admittedly we don't know for certain
Having different teams doesn't guarantee any consistency in quality. Medal of Honor 2010 and Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway already proved that.
they proved what? that their single player teams were s*** and couldn't write and produce a decent SP mode? well sucks for them. fortunately that's not the case with bioware.
Their multiplayer teams also sucked because of lackluster gameplay and networking problems. Conveniently forgot that?
i haven't conviniently forgotten anything. i never played any of those games. i was just pointing out at the fact that if people do their job and they're good at it. i turns out good, and if not than it doesn't.
i really don't see what point you are trying to make by saying BIA and MOH were bad games? you think they were bad becuase they had a team work on MP and another work on SP. does that sound like a logical arguement to you?

Because MP isn't free. Its takes resources to create it... those resources could have went into another part of the game ie the single player

Ok ok ok ok I am sitting in work after reading this for the first time... I am trying to hold in the rage... I know if I write a big whiney rage filled post no one will read it anyway... but you know, *** it this is therapy for me !!!!!
*BEGIN RANT*
What the hell are they doing putting MP into ME??? The vast majority of fans don't want it !!! So why are they doing it??
Perhaps they think "Ok I know that nobody wants it BUT its going to be so awesome that they will want it once they see what an amazing job we did on it" or more likely they are thinking "oh oh oh pressure from EA to do this... keep the game on the shelf for longer!! Lets get the COD crowd!!! $$$$$"
If its the former and not the latter than, you know, thats kind of OK I guess. It just better ****ing not noticably impact the quality of the single player.
If its the latter then WHAT THE HELL are you people doing??? They are not going to get the COD crowd !!! BW are chasing unicorns!
If I want a quick fun multiplayer experience I will play *gasp* COD becuase they do it BETTER than anyone else... If I want a deep fulfilling multiplayer experience I will play Starcraft !!! You can't possibly compete with those games....
CoD (love it or hate it) has nailed the run and gun multiplayer experience. SC2 is like chess on steroids. You are not going to come **CLOSE** to those games. So from a market perspective this seems stupid too.
Bioware used to fill a niche in the market... they did it better than anyone. They made games that you lived in. Games that you thought about when you went to sleep at night...
If we end up with another DA2 - ie a horrible mut of a game which in its attempt to please everyone was loathed by its core fans and ignored by the people it wanted to woo - I am going to be so disappointed.
And I know there are studios out there who are making they type of RPGs we want but when bioware concentrate on making actual RPGs they do it better than anyone... Its a sad day for gaming if they are going after the "run and gun" market.
*END RANT*
I read it
And I totally have to agree what you are saying. I will surely be pissed if they **** this up. The ME universe has been with me for the past couple of years.
But I also think that if done right coop missions that add some extra view on the story - some different angle on events - could very well benifit the series - IF DONE RIGHT.
So I guess we will have to wait and see unil the 19th and beyond until we know more.
I will have to get back to work too... much rather read and write on though...

Uh because, if any part of the stronger aspect of the game felt lacking, it would obviously because of the mere inclusion of multiplayer. Already saw that with enough console games in my gaming "career."

This... this changes everything. I need to lie down.
I think a lot of people forgot this simple little fact... either that or they're from a younger generation of gamers who never played Bioware's older games.

Amazingly, I have Origin installed, and funnily enough, my PC hasn't blown up, or slowed down, nor have the FBI raided my place. Like Steam, it just sits in the tray, doing nothing most of the time. It starts up quicker than Steam too. Still waiting for the paranoid to say how Origin will turn your PC into a zombie.

Uh, as it was, both aspects of the game sucked, DESPITE HAVING TWO SEPARATE DEDICATED TEAMS.
Common theme both games had:
Bad multiplayer, and crappy single-player campaigns.

It will be fine. Most of the people whining about Origin will still get the game because people lack discipline and impulse control, these personal traits being unfavorable in a capitalistic consumer society. So they will get the game, install Origin, play it and come to realize it's not actually the end of the world. Even so, they probably won't stop whining about having been forced to do so.

I think Bioware wanted this news to come out later this month and that Australian PC magazine might have broken the embargo on the info, guess they won't getting interviews from Bioware for awhile after this. Think we might see a trailer for this later this month when the news was suppose to come out, would be interesting to see.
