People cancelling their pre-order because of the addition of MP? I'm surrounded by crazies.

But, at the very least, I suppose you're sticking to your principles.

The good news:BioWare has just saved me $80. *cancels pre-order*
The bad news: I won't get to play the final chapter in a game franchise that I really, really loved.

The good news: I don't have to waste my time getting any other Shepards set up for ME3 anymore. Time sink relieved!
The bad news: there goes the only game I was looking forward to getting.

The good news: I no longer have to participate in any other ME3 discussions and can spend all my time in the DA2 forum.
The bad news: ...I have to spend all my time in the DA2 forum. -_-

You'll be getting ME3, probably after Bioware showcase some new single-player content

Or maybe not. Nothing that I've seen so far has gotten me excited about the game, personally. I just wanted to finish the story, but now I don't have to.

Because multiplayer completely ruined Mass Effect 3, turned it into a Gears of War clone, attracted the idiots of the Call of Duty fanbase, and shows that EA is holding Bioware at gunpoint.

Get BF3 and Skyrim. Both will last long enough until March.

This should be interesting. Of course, if I don't enjoy the singe player for any reason and if it doesn't live up to the ME3 hype, at least I now have a scape goat to blame it all on.

I don't care if they add MP or not (as long as the SP is at least as long as ME2), I just hope they'll keep putting out story based DLC like LotSB and not overpriced map packs for multiplayer.

I don't get it.

You could have a purely SP game that you only revisit half a dozen times because, let's face it, the same missions over and over again will become boring. When that's done; WHAM! Your favourite game series is over, except for a few DLC's or mods. No more Mass Effect. Ever. Or, you could have a game which has the original SP campaign AND a MP mode which you can play with friends, extending it's shelf life by a year or two.

Other games franchises have show than this is a successful and financially sensible option. It does work.

For me, ME3 doesn't need multiplayer to have replay appeal because of the fact that you get a different experience by changing class, gender, origin, etc. I must have about 8 Shepards by now and i love them all. I am STILL in the middle of playthroughs of 1 and 2 now.

By contrast, Modern Warfare got exactly one playthrough from me, in single player. I had fun with it but I've never touched the multiplayer mode and don't intend to do so. Judging from what I read here on the BSN, this is all fairly typical of ME3's fanbase, or at least pretty close to it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I just don't think multiplayer is that big a deal for most of us -- at least not in ME3. This was a move made to attract people who didn't buy the first two games, IMO. That makes me worry about what other changes have been made without the interests of the core audience in mind.

Haha, this topic was 4 pages before I went to sleep. Anyway, I'm not too concerned about multiplayer being in ME3. I trust BW knows what they're doing, and who knows, MP might be *GASP* fun.

Don't worry. I have 5 CE pre-ordered. Once they arrive I think about shipping one to you and then decide not to... They will all watch me while I play the game and in the evening I read them stories of other galaxies far far away.
I can't wait. :D

Multiplayer elements shouldn't effect single player game, i don't think Bioware is that stupid to let that happen.

Let me just state what I see wrong with these statements. 1-3 seems implausible. We're not saying that they'll get rid of content, we're saying it might not be as good because the budget has been spread between SP and MP and finally, we don't know if it's a cool feature yet. Right now, it's all speculation.

3) A local friend's main game as the coop companion at his house (if there's split screen).
4) Possibly play my main game by myself.

Well I'm glad I have experts like you guys around to tell me that a game featuring multiplayer will make multiplayer implausible.

So this is why I have to wait until 2012? Grrr!

That's what it seems like. That, or something went horribly wrong with the SP.

I think that deductive reasoning can only lead to one obvious conclusion - that the whole development team became
lodged in a giant semi-melted marshmallow due to a horrible miscalculation of scale at a pyjama party.

The most upsetting aspect of this is that resources which could otherwise have been used to polish the SP campaign, will now have to be used to pull apart a giant sticky marshmallow before the developers die a horrific if delicious death.

On an entirely unrelated note, I wonder how many reviews of ME3 were posted on Amazon today. (I don't really, nobody tell me).

Just to let Bioware knows, I hoped that ME3 would be Bioware's redemption after the craptacular piece of ... that was ME2.
I thought Bioware had learned their lessons, I was even ready to buy ME3, the multiplayer annoucement was the nail in the coffin.
Thank you Casey Hudson/EA/whoever-is-responsible-for-this-****, you're doing a bang up job destroying this franchise.

BTW, it's funny how certain people call those who don't like this new addition "FANATICS", I thought that word was for woud be those who just swallow everything with a smile.

Getting pissy and giving up on a franchise that you love [because you've made assumptions about how the SP is going to be based on the addition of a MP element] is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. It'd be more sensible to "hold off" until you've read some reviews after it's release to see what people think of it.

That's great actually! Now I know the singleplayer will be an abolutely perfect experience; everything any ME fan could have ever hoped for. Because, seriously, if it wasn't it would be pretty damn unwise to spend extra resources on an optional feature few people ever wanted...

So horray for the epic conclusion of Shepard's story!! Image IPB
