Staying on topic:
MP is a great source of extra revenue. EA can sell MP DLC that will make give your Shepard OP armor/weapons. You can faceroll all those poor noobs that cant afford the DLC.
Also EA can sell co-op DLC that will allow you to kick all those noobs that dont have the co-op DLC gear.
Plus EA can open cash shops for MP dyes.
Yes, MP is a viable business model.

Hey, Id' still be Brotherhood's super fun multiplayer if it wasnt for the awful, awful lobby and matchmaking. I'd spend 10 to 20 minutes waiting for a single slot to fill. And even after everything is done, we'd have to go through uneccesary options and loading.
Only to enjoy 10 minutes of gameplay. It wasn't worth all that hassle.

About...four months ago I tried it a couple times, and I had to wait for about ten minutes. It was very challanging (I'm no multiplayer person, at all) but also very fun, the whole stealth thing. That made it acceptable to me.

I'm gonna buy all of it. FOREVER! Then immediately afterwards get upset because I suck so hard at shooters but am the prettiest, heavily armed Spectre in the galaxy.

I really doubt it will, though. The mediocre first-attempt at multiplayer will be just that, mediocre, and people will stop playing it after a year, just like AC Brotherhood.
People here still talk about KotOR. Will MP acheive that longevity? Of course not.
A year? You're too kind.
I'll give it three months tops.

Because this is going for the 10th page without a single rage post. What makes you think there will be in the morning? What, all the level headed people leave after 10 AM?

That's long enough for us to have a duel in deathmatch.

This all depends on what we mean by 'people will stop playing it' -- dropoff is inevitable and eventually it will be substantial; that's a basic understanding. But MGS4 still has servers and a decent-sized dedicated online following and that's another example of a strong single-player series that made the leap to online capabilities back in 2008.
Three months? Rather silly estimation if you don't mind my saying, unless you're just implying that within ninety days it will stop being a huge thing. In which case yes, certainly possible.

Metal Gear Solid had multiplayer way before MGS4 too.

Oh look. Another magazine that claims Multiplayer for ME3.
Exactly why Bioware needs to come out and confirm or deny it
Why? It's good free publicity when people go on and rage about it. Why deny or confirm the rumors now?
I suppose the forums would get boring if they did, i see your point i suppose
That too. These forums would get rather empty without half a dozen multiplayer threads popping up every day. But it's not just the forums. Every time some piece of paper has 'gaming magazine' and 'mass effect 3 has multiplayer' stamped on it, it'll be all over the web and on renouned gaming websites and many people will read it. They'll see 'Mass Effect 3' again and again and, if they haven't already, will eventually be more inclined to check it out. Because something being repeated this often has to be something amazing right?
Bioware must be doing this on purpose cus they get free advertising out of the poeple who rage, never thought of that before. then again after that **** storm with FOX a few years ago, it's not that surprising
Indeed. We've all been used by EA to help their marketing. It's rather easy to just 'leak' some details hinting at multiplayer. Soon some 2nd rate website will pick them up, write a sloppy article about how 'reliable sources' told them there would be multiplayer. Add some fanrage and... free marketing.
Like King Cailan would say: Glorious!

If ME had a special controller that fell apart 5 minutes into using it during an ME game, I'd buy it. I'm a merch wh*re.
