Since the article is about multiplayer, don't you think they represent other PCs? If true, that means we'll be able to play as other races! That would be cool!

Which would suggest the Krogan is not Wrex. Which in turn makes me think of the 4-player co-op rumors. Maybe you create new character for co-op (you can be Asari commando, a Krogan etc) and an AI-Shepard leads the team of 4 players?

Hence the cover? No? Ahh well, just trying to figure it out why would they put 4 NPCs alongside Shep ;P

Maybe they aren't actual characters at all, but in this new co op mode you can customize a new character from different species!

Like I said before, guy on the left is Shepard with Death Mask while woman on left is also Shepard but with Recon Hood.

Also that Asari looks nothing like Liara and actually looks like Asari Commando from ME1.

Fairly certain they're showing Wrex and Liara; the artist is just different.

4 player co-op was confirmed by Priestly, I'm now sure these are either predefined characters for co-op mission or class/race examples of characters we can create

The one to our left is Vega. As a previous poster said, the structures at the shoulders are a dead giveaway.

The female on the right could, conceivably, be Ashley in armor. Just a thought.

Oh wait, this is just bad cover artwork that might or might not mean anything, and in any case, I won't know if I like any and all new characters until I meet them in the game. Oh well, it was fun to rage while it lasted...

Looking at this large scan of the image I can confirm that the Krogan is Wrex.
The guy in the Death Mask is probably James judging by his armor.
Something tells me the Asari isn't Liara.
The lady on the right has a Kestrel armor. :3

Kind of unrelated, but this looks pretty rushed compared to Patryk Olejniczaks earlier work, same for his rendition of redhead FemShep. Is he getting short deadlines?

Uh...I thought they were all generic characters really.

2 soldiers wearing Shepard's helmets, an asari wearing something that resembled Morinth's outfit and Wrex's head on Grunt's armor lol.
