I have asked Priestly for a official multiplayer forum section as I highly doubt this lone topic is sufficient to discuss the multiple ideas people can come up with.

Also waiting for more news on what multiplayer types we are getting. As for my feelings on this, I am pretty much indifferent as of now. I have a few great ideas (I will put into the forums when we have grounds for successfull and focused discussion) and as long as the singleplayer is great (read: more on ME1 than ME2 level and at best way better than both of course!), I have no problems.

And if we get such a great singleplayer AND a great multiplayer, I will be thinking of buying BioWare a cake from a local confisserie and letting it send to them ... So BioWare, if you want candy, do a good job :)

I have to admit, I didn't care much for the idea of multiplayer but the entertainment it's naysayers give me makes it all worth it.

Does that make me a bad person?

It just makes you a bonafide member of the Bioware Defense Force. But that's a surprise to no one.

ROFLMAO Oh Bioware, first you say "Mass Effect will have Multiplayer" and than you say "Please wait a few days before jumping to conclusions." You say the cutest things.

I know, it's adorable. I bet they're telling themselves that people actually care about the multiplayer "option". Oh god....the tension...it's so exciting I can resist waiting days to fin out about  multiplayer OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111

not like this.they always ride on there high horse saying its a single player experience. then turn around and betray real fans that was there from the start so they can bring in cod fans. that a sellout to me

Oh, now we're seeing the "real fans" card being played.

You'd assume that a 'real fan' would give Biwoare the chance to reveal what the MP actually is and why they put it in. I don't believe that anyone that says they're cancelling their preorders based on MP they know nothing about was ever a true fan.

Exactly.  People talking about not buying a game because of a feature they don't even know about are ridiculous.  Now the people who pre-ordered and played DA2 on the other hand.....

where did i say i canceling my preorder maybe you should read before you type

I like how it is always the same people defending Bioware's decisions, Bioware could put dog poop in a box for £40 and these people will defend them and worship them. I loved Bioware and I really enjoyed their games, but with DA2 and now this Bioware are falling from the very high pedestal they claimed. It takes many years to create a reputation. It only takes a few games to destroy it. Dragon Age 2 and this news has set that ball in motion.

Just like to add this: images
All this games have multiplayer.

The extent of the multiplayer element from the old Bioware studio in these (bar Deus ex which was Ion Storm :P) was to give you the toolset, netcode and server and then the community made everything for them. This would be comparable if the allowed ME3 to be modded and provided the toolset required to build your own missions/persistent worlds etc but that's not gonna happen.

To people who don't approve of multiplayer give it a chance, don't jump to conclusions.

There was absolutely no reason to start messing with the ME series and add a entire game mode that might have been the cause of the delay for the final game's release, that the fans of pre-existing games would not approve of.

I can bet that none of the people who played ME1 or ME2 originally played because it was solely a shooting game, or because they wanted a great co-op mode. I know personally, that I was intrigued by the game because it was all about MY decisions as Shepard, and the entire game was surronded by those actions. If you're playing the game with other people, that makes this literally impossible; the people who you are playing with have a choice of their input of the game as well.

Seriously, why try to tamper with something that is already in perfectly fine condition? Bioware is just asking for backlash from their fans, if you ask me. You may call it "jumping to conclusions," but I'd like to call it "why fix something that isn't broken."

I've been interested in ME ever since I heard about it in 2005. The story was what appealed to me, but even that early I wanted to see some kind of MP in the ME universe - the futuristic squad-based gameplay is just screaming out for some kind of co-op.

As long as the single player campaign isn't linear, short, or full of automatic dialogue - I don't care. Apparently this has been in development from a whole other studio, so there's some hope that the single player won't be 100% shooter campaign. That being said, I hope that there's some type of horde mode in the multiplayer and not coop. I just don't see that working with exploration, and side quests... unless as stated above they make it linear. But hopefully this is just a horde mode, or coop side missions with different characters/species. That wouldn't be that bad, and in fact would be interesting. Oh and - I told you so.

What the hell.
Seriously.

I'm not even mad at this point.
I'm just disappointed and depressed. I'm honestly not seeing any positive aspect about MP being added to Mass Effect now of all times. It's not going to make it any more eligible for GotY or any more appealing to the CoD crowd if it's co-op modes only like so many people speculate.

The worst part it, I'll probably end up playing it and enjoying it. Because if I don't, I feel like I won't be getting the most out of what I had hoped would be the best game I'd ever play. But I thought that because no single player experience since KotOR had ever gotten me so hooked in as Mass Effect did. I thought Mass Effect was beautiful because it didn't need to follow the CoD or Halo crowd. But it has.

I know I can't do jack about this, but...
BioWare... I am disappoint.

Ah, the Sadim (reverse-Midas) touch -- everything they put their grubby little hands on turns to crap. The funny thing is, EA used to be awesome...though that was long ago and far away. (Seriously. Go watch the Extra Credits episode about EA marketing.)

Question-

Who's canceling their preorders? And I mean REALLY.

Why take a **** on millions of fans since 2007 instead of waiting for the next game for MP?

Because they can replace the ones that leave just as easy... LOL! I never thought taking a **** was erotic so Im confused by your statement? Fan since ME1, still a fan unless EA Origin is required to play ME3. Co-OP/MP is a solid+ to me. If it goes the way of Uncharted 2, You'll be kicking yourself in the teeth come March... Waiting to watch the ignorant haters eat their words.

Ahh man, it's official now? Guess all good things have to come to an end eventually. I had secretly hoped they'd save this disease called multiplayer for ME4 and on. *Sigh*

Well it better not interfere with the single player experience in any way or ME3 will become my personal 'biggest dissapointment ever'

I'll try it, I'm sure. I don't have a problem with multiplayer as long as it's not integrated into the single-player campaign.

Appearance packs sold.
Then again, I'd rather have all paid DLC being cosmetic and leaving the actual content to either free updates or proper, disk-printed expansions. Valve style.

I love how no one has talked about the MP Online Pass. Does this mean they expect us to pay more to do Co-op?

Who wanted this? The suits at EA? Certainly not many ME fans. And if they think multiplayer will draw in a larger audience, they're sadly mistaken. There's no way BW, an RPG dev, is going to match the balance and precisions of MP games like Gears, Halo, or CoD. No way. No one is going to leave those games for ME3 multiplayer in any form.

I just don't see how this is going to add to the game. I wish they would have concentrated 100% on making this the best singleplayer experience ever.

This doesn't mean I won't buy the game, of course I will. It just seems like a very odd decision.
