Considering the reduced amount of time Bioware had to implement multiplayer (when compared to, say, the amount of time they had to revamp the combat system for ME2), I'm assuming that the multiplayer mode will be little more than co-op missions against AI.

Which is a damn shame, because a melee free-for-all or Capture the Flag type multiplayer game could actually be quite entertaining. What with the new powers and everything.

Is that Liara on the right? If so, she's unrecognizable.

The art is pretty atrocious overall.

I wouldn't say atrocious, it just looks rushed. Patryk's probably not used to deadlines I suppose. His other work is top notch, and I'm sure he had more time to work on them.

Could be the case. Unfortunately, still an ugly cover though.

I can't believe people are willing to give up finishing Shepard's story over this.

Before giving up finishing Shepard's story over this, I'd like to know what "this" is. If "this" means something really horrible, like changes in main plot for multiplayer, then my Shepards' story ended either in ME1 (Reapers didn't arrive at all. TROLOLO) or in ME2, depending on Shepard. On another hand, "this" might end up absolutely harmless.

Nothing is for certain now and, I'm afraid, it will be so until release.

Nothing is certain, but I really don't think it will be anything but an extra feature. They would be slitting their own throats if it affected single play in any way. :)

Honestly? I'm not sure in anything now. Nah, someone being shot will definitely make me feel better;)

LOL. Just remember it's all for Kaidan. He's the priiiize! :P I'm crossing my fingers for co-op. I don't care for PvP, so I just wouldn't make use of it.

I do find these rebellious noises about Origin pretty amusing though, we all know 99.99% of them are going to put up with it in the end.

But it's skin off MY nose that I don't get to play ME3 the way I wanted, so I LOSE.

Yes, they have the right to abandon the single player gamers after pretending to care about us all this time. They didn't tell us about the decision until now because they wanted to hide it.

No, they don't care if I don't buy it. But I care that I lost a game I want to play. So don't tell me I have no grounds for complaints just because you say I am unimportant.

You understand there is still single player, no one is forcing you to plat with multiplayer. Stop pretending this is not and optional way to play the game.

*applauds Bioware*

A strange part of me wants ME3's multiplayer to resemble that of Dark Souls.
(Meanwhile, the other part wants 1v1's, Team Objective games, PlayersVsAi Horde mode, PlayerVsPlayer Horde mode, Normandy minigames, Competitive Arcade modes, an MeleeAssassin gametype and more.)
A guy can dream =]

Since multiplayer is optional, and is being developed by a different team (or so I hear), which means it won't take away from the actual single player campaign itself in any way.

But surely he can't be the only artist at Bioware.  Also his artwork with Femshep seemed a little off too.

Of course not, but he was just hired by them, so they probably want to give him a chance to help out with some of the marketing. His miranda, shepard, legion, etc... portraits were excellent. Just give it some time for him to adjust his workflow to the time constraints. :)

@Javier - Nobody was taking the thread off topic man. We were simply recalling that you constantly opposed multiplayer.

What do you mean "I don't get to play ME3 the way I wanted" as far as we know, the single player is still the way it was before.  Unless you're going to argue that the fact that knowing multiplayer exists ruins the singleplayer experience, you have nothing to cry about.

About the art on the cover. Since they dont look like the characters from the game, what if these characters are the multiplayer characters?

Is it really that big a deal to you? It's not like they're cutting the game down to ME1 size or anything. They are just adding a new gameplay mode.

It's not April, Bioware.

This made me laugh far harder than it should have. :D

In all honesty, I'm on the camp of "not sure what to feel". I'll just wait until we get the real picture of what this "Multiplayer" is like. And that said, I probably won't touch it more than once or twice, for a number of reasons.

I just wished BioWare had shouted out the news before we had to know it from teasers for magazines and rumours. I get that they're still developing it, and it's not 100% set in stone, and it's bound to be changed, and all that jazz. But really, we're here for you BW. We wouldn't stick around if we didn't like (read: DEVOUR) your games. If you can tell it to magazines you could tell us a bit more before Udina's favourite kind of storm blows full-force.

But then again, the speculation and drama! We need those TO LIVE! :P

Frankly this makes no sense at all...Bioware has positioned the entire trilogy as your story that you shape through your decisions (so, okay they haven't turned out that big of a deal yet, but there was always hope that they would in ME 3). Now just ignore that and go jump into the multiplayer map of council races fighting reapers on xyz map.

But that's okay 'cause it's multiplayer, none of that story/character stuff matters!

I can see it's too much to hope that people will wait until they see how something will be implemented, or have played through the content, before yelling about it. Geez. Common sense tells you that the single-player game isn't going to suddenly become a stripped-down Angry Birds just because they added a multiplayer element. But I guess expecting people to be calm and reasonable about a video game feature announcement is too much to ask.

I sure hope not!

I though this was a no-brainer, specially now with multiplayer confirmed.
I'm seriously considering switching to PS3 for ME3 just to avoid Origin.

Is that right? For people like me who have valuable information on our computers, no we won't. In my case, why would I want to give EA access to source files of the games I work on? I'll most likely play ME1 and 2 on PC, and create custom saves based on those playthroughs for ME3 on xbox. But anyways lets not pull the discussion towards origin in here, this is about multiplayer.
