Yep. They KNOW there would be people who would not pleased. The least they could have done is to prepare detailed explanations along with the first release of info.
The "wait for more details later" approach showed that they don't care.
They could have simply said they intend to add multiplayer to ME3, but are working on the implementation.

While I'm not going to boycott ME3, I'm quite sure a lot of people will in light of this news. All that's left is origins clarification.

Anyone who'd seriously not buy ME3 because of this is either:
a. Someone who's lying and will buy it anyway or
b. Someone who never intended to buy it in the first place.

Still trying to get the "Call of Duty" crowd, Bioware?...That didn't work too well for Dragon Age 2.
Some people need to learn that the only thing that can attract the Call of Duty crowd is Call of Duty.

The Krogan is definitely Wrex, which is an odd choice considering the confirmed perma-member squadmates so far...
The Asari, while I THINK is supposed to be Liara, is rather poorly drawn. It's hard to tell, it kinda just looks like an average Asari Commando.
It looks like Morinth.
Again, weird choice!!!!
Maybe it's Aria, I've heard speculation that she and Wrex have a past.

Do people that there is no way of knowing that multiplayer was the reason ME3 was held back, and definitely not because of all the major titles being released?
Yeah okay, you actually believe that they were just trying to make "a better quality product"?
I don't believe anything, but I won't make an assumption with no knowledge of what happened.

Hate to break it to you but the average age of a gamer in 2011 is 37. So I don't know how your going to find so many 13 year olds.
Really?
SUCK ON THAT, MOM!!!
Really? Then I have apparently been running into an awful lot of high voiced, foul mouthed, immature 37 year olds on mulitplayer for mulitple game franchises.

It'll be alright, love. You'll see. <3
But *sniffles* I trusted her! She was the first of her kind that I grew to love! And then she...she betrays me! *weeps some more*
Turn the pain into something positive. You can come out of this stronger and tougher...and your friends will always have your back.
I don't know if I can.

Sorry but small community called BSN =/= ME fanbase. Try harder.

Well they're not in the educational mood it seems. Everyone tries to be CoD. It's really a shame that the originality in the game industry is being compromised because developers are trying to be like CoD which is the same exact game with new skins. It's nothing new!

I just wish they will come out and say that the single player is the same length of ME1 or ME2. And I know that they said that before, but I need to hear it again, after this announcement.
-Polite
Casey Hudson has stated that the campaign is the about the same length as ME2's, he said that on twitter (sorry I don't have an image for proof right now).
Mike Gamble also just said any new features won't detract from the core game itself.
EDIT: Just saw you the before and after part of your statement. Lulz

Personally, I think this is one of the stupidest things they could have done at this late in the series. If they wanted MP they should have waited until the next ME game and integrated it fully into the series they would be starting then.
I will not cancel my CE game, but I will not be playing ME MP much or at all. Waste of time and effort Bioware.
Indeed.
Could've had ME3 by the end of the year, but nope. Some moron decided that multiplayer is the future of games and that all their games should have it, no matter how half-assed and generic it might be.
I agree.

'Gamer' is obviously including farmville and angry birds. I'd say the average age of someone playing multiplayer on Xbox is likely early 20s, late teens rather than 13.

Not exactly news to me, but I'll maintain my initial reaction:
"Meh"
Not a disappointed meh, or even a particularly annoyed meh. More an apathetic, why-is-this-happening? meh, combined with that slight twinge of frustration that this is what they pushed the release date back several months for?
Yeah, pretty much this.
Could be fun, hell it could be a lot of fun. Doesn't stop it being a massive 'whaaaa' moment for me. The franchise wasn't going to run off guys! It could have waited. Thesedays multiplayer is a massive deal with most gamers and will be picked apart with a fine comb, really hope those extra months are enough to deliver the sort of quality BioWare prides itself for. If not I really just cannot understand why they didn't just wait and release a follow up spin off game that focuses on the multiplayer and allowed them more time to perfect it.
ME3 was always going to sell like crazy, anything after that could do with a big hook to get the massive numbers the high ups no doubt want to see. First ever multiplayer could have been a massive draw in a post trilogy world, and it's been proven to be possible to push out a quality MP emphasised game in a relatively short time.
It's also undeniable that multiplayer in ME is a controversial feature, regardless of how large a group you feel is opposed to it. Saving MP for after the trilogy would have negated much of that backlash.
Eh it just really puzzles me.

And if it's cool? I mean, wouldn't they leave it to the Montreal team for that reason? Because they didn't have time themselves to come up with a good/creative/fresh co-op?Someone With Mass wrote...
I know they polished the game and all, but I could've lived just fine without some generic multiplayer mode.
IF, yes.
They should've kept working on something they know works for sure instead.
I also don't see the point of co-op in Mass Effect 3. What if the players are in a disagreement (inevitable on that front, by the way) about which choices to make?
A co-op mode separate from the campaign? What the hell does that serve?

Either that or the gaming community is so far apart that half are 16 year olds and theother half are 70 year olds that got their heads shoved in a toaster, averaging out to around 37 years old.
