As much as i want multiplayer in games I REALLY don't think that Mass Effect is the franchise to do it on.

ME is a single player game. Adding multiplayer to a story driven game like Mass Effect is nothing but a joke to bring in shooter fans. EA at it's finest...<_<

I'll be buying it, but it's definitely going to be the last Bioware game I buy. If it wasn't for the story and characters, I probably would have dropped it after 2. 

I see no reason not to get whatever garbage they push out in a steam sale.

Sellout? Skyrim is also geting streamlined as hell, your post is another good example of "didn't do research".

Oh really? So skyrim has a predefined character like ME2 and  ME3? They have dumbed down RPG mechanics, completely removed exploration and loot, and included multiplayer? Oh I guess I didn't do my research then. :innocent:

As long as it doesn't take anything away from the story (which I'm 99% sure it won't) then it's fine by me. I won't be buying ME3 for the multiplayer by any means though, anyone who does is a fool.

I went to Gamestop while I was away from this thread to go preorder Skyrim, MW3, and Assassin's Creed Revelations.

While there, I told the girl behind the counter than ME3 was confirmed to have multiplayer(or at least, a component of it).

She exploded into sheer...

Joy. She looked like she won the lottery. Like she was about to cry.

I told her the BSN exploded into mainly negativity and she was like, "Pfft, whatever."

Playing Mass Effect together with someone else is like playing WoW offline alone. What made you think a single player game loved for what it is would be better if it isn't what it was anymore?

So by your reasoning ME3 is no longer a RPG? It has no more stats, no level progression, no party members, no dialog options, Hell even the story must be gun. All that hard work was sent to multiplayer. You know what you are correct. Your overreaction is accurate. Bioware is too incompetent and cheap as a gaming developer to even waste money on single player games. All of the videos of gameplay vid we saw of ME3 was just a trick by Bioware to get us into thinking ME3 had a singleplayer.

Meh, is pretty much how I feel about MP in general.
I'l give it a go, if it's fun then ok, if not I just won't bother.

It's not going to make me cancel my pre-orders though (Xbox since I started with ME there so need to finish there, and PC since I've got a smexy new Alienware laptop now and have started playing all my favourites on this too.)

As long as it's not essential to finishing the story, it doesn't really bother me - like a lot of other options in Bio games, if I don't like it, I just won't do it.

Just an observation... many are convinced that this is just a gimmick to attract new players that mostly play MP games such as CoD, Battlefield, etc etc. I seriously doubt that adding this new element for that reason will be successful. I have been trying to get my younger brother to play the Bioware games for a long time because I wan't him to recognize that games can be something more then virtually killing other people over the internet and random swearing. I have failed countless times, I guess he just finds them too complicated or not fun. It's not that he dumb, he just doesn't get the same satisfaction in it.

So I do think that the MP is going to be aimed at the fans they already have. Whether or not that's what we wanted or not is another issue.

Since I have never played MP games, I have a few questions, how will the inclusion of this affect the modders?

I can't speak for those who play on the PC, but what about the xbox 360 crowd that uses the gibbed save editor?

I know there is no worries when it comes to SP games, but what happens if someone tries to play the MP content? Will their console send a red flag to MS?
