I like it. People ARE capable of producing a good singleplayer campaign that you CAN (if you want) play cooperatively.

Hopefully you can solo the co-op missions (like you can solo the horde mode in GoW3 if you wish) or play them with an AI companion, my friends (who are buying the game) are console peasants and I'm definetly buying the game for PC only. :)

Ok co-op missions don't sound too bad. I'm still warry though.

I'm not hugely impressed by this, but from what I've seen and heard so far, ME3 looks far superior to ME1 and ME2. It is possible to have a good SP and MP mode, such as you know, that one game often considered the best of all time, Deus Ex. Besides, the fact that it is a co-op mode will actually work well. I'd have little interest in a death match mode, but a co-op mode might be cool after my first or second play through by myself. As Chris Priestly says, if you don't like a feature, don't use it.

There's no reason to suggest this will detract from the SP campaign.

Pah, who cares about the people who are cancelling their pre-orders? One thing I notice is most of the people owning up to it are dark age gamers who think ME2 was "dumbed down" and constantly belittle and insult those who prefer ME2. Change isn't necessarily bad. Even if you don't like this change, cancelling a pre-order because of one design decision shows you have no faith in Bioware to produce a good game, and frankly raises questions as to why you even visit these forums.

As David Sarif would say, some people will be left behind, it's evolution. Or in this case, Bioware bringing back a feature they've already used in the past. Does Baldur's gate appeal to COD fans simply because it has an MP component? What nonsense.

Yes, co-op MP missions for #ME3: they're real, and they're spectacular. Rest assured it's nothing of what you've feared. More soon...

PHEEEEEEEW.

Phew? That sounds like the worst case scenario to me. Story oriented Co-Op? Great. <_< Now you either are forced to play online or get to miss part of the story.

where did you get that from? I am betting on combat-heavy missions with very light story elements.

I'm pretty sure it's co-op same as most games. You don't have to miss part of the story (unless it's something along the lines of Portal 2, and even then I'm certain that it'll be split-screen. God help Bioware if they don't include split-screen.

This pretty much what I suspected. Co-op missions.

I'm willing to bet they are either outside of the main ME3 story or take place before or after the main events. I see this as being like Portal 2 or SC: Conviction co-op.

People need douse the flaming sword of rage and let it temper a bit. If it is done right I think it might be fun. Since it's BW-Edmonton, it is not the same group who is working on the SP. campaign.

Well said, fella.

Question is how would that work for an RPG/Shooter game where alot of the game is conversations.

Wow, 34 pages already and just 2 hours from when the thread was started.

No need to Rage about this until we play the main game, gotta wait to see if it effects the Mainstory or not. But since its just co-op doesnt sound that bad.

Never change BSN... Never change...

Someone in the locked thread that preceded this one already said that the entire writing staff should be fired for ME2.

That doesn't surprise me at all.

"Because BSN...BSN never changes."

"Fans do, through the roads they walk."

At least that's what I want to believe.

If this is anything like Bioshock 2, Assassin's creed: Brotherhood or Dead space 2 then Mass effect is in serious trouble. All of those games I mentioned have one thing in common; their single player modes suffered because the developers had to divert resources towards MP.

Why do companies feel the need to shoe-horn MP into games that don't need them? This is a terrible idea that could potentially ruin the Mass effect franchise. I'm hoping that this turns out like Uncharted 2 and ME3's SP will still be strong despite MP being available but going by history this has a good chance of turning a once great series into a mediocre one.

I know that this is a futile gesture but I implore Bioware to reconsider this move and remove the MP from ME3. Make the MP it's own separate game if need be but please don't tarnish what I and many people consider to be the best franchise of this generation by cramming in MP that no one asked for in the first place.

If I had to take a guess, it'll be like Modern Warfare 2 and 3's Spec Ops mode.

Co-op missions that are not a part of the campaign. You can do them solo or with another person.

This morning, the BSN handed Bioware a final note stating that unless we heard from them that they would deny the existence of multiplayer by 11.00 am, a state of war would exist. I have to tell you now, that no such undertaking has been recieved, and so consequently, the BSN is at war with itself

God be with us all

Save your prayers.
There is no god on BSN.

Sounds like it's going to be like GRAW 2's multiplayer, with separate co-op missions.

Ok I didn't want to stoke the rage inferno, but REALLY?  People are that anti-social that they refuse to participate in anything that involves other people?

I'm not willing to count the MP as good until I see it, but to completely dismiss it as garbage because anything MP is garbage reaks of... I don't even know what.

This is 2011, games have online multiplayer.  Get some friends and play it, or don't.  But chill out.

I really, really dislike having to schedule fun. And generally finding people to play Co-Op with means just that, unless you're looking for randoms.

Group huddle! My friends and I often debate what choices to make when playing tabletop RPGs.

Stop being such a goddamn peasant. Gears of War had both SP and MP campaign, and they were EXACTLY the same. You could play either without missing out on anything story-wise. I can only assume ME3 co-op will function exactly the same.
