I like it. People ARE capable of producing a good singleplayer campaign that you CAN (if you want) play cooperatively.

Question is how would that work for an RPG/Shooter game where alot of the game is conversations.

Sounds like co-op mode is seperate from the main story, like how they did it with Modern Warfare 2 where there was a special section for co-op missions

So, ME3 just went from a two/three month after launch discount purchase to a possible day one one for me.

Oh happy joy!

I know, right?

If we can arrange them here, that would be cool. I doubt it will be day one for me though, the list of other games in the way is too long. :wizard:

Yes, co-op MP missions for #ME3: they're real, and they're spectacular. Rest assured it's nothing of what you've feared. More soon...

PHEEEEEEEW.

Phew? That sounds like the worst case scenario to me. Story oriented Co-Op? Great. <_< Now you either are forced to play online or get to miss part of the story.

Still jumping to conclusions, I see. There is no indication that online play is not optional.

So the game was pushed to 2012 because of the development of MP? I'm not happy and I won't play the MP. I'm buying your games because I'm interested in the story, characters and lore... I don't care one bit for the multiplayer part.  I'll probably still get a collector edition, but if I'm not satisfied with the quality of the single player... this will be my last Bioware game purschase.

Given the nature of multiplayer titles especially shooters generally having tiny SP and rest of time devoted to MP (insert almost every single shooter with MP) and Bioware avoiding the truth recently all the time as opposed to out right lieing but still avoidence. I completed ME2 main story alone with no side missions in about if I recall 10-15 hours tops, and they say ME3 will be about same length as ME2 so I'm guessing given lack of trust since they use misdirection and PR lingo to avoid the truth most of time; that when say same length as ME2 what they mean is 10-15 hour SP and rest is MP. With removal of all the side missions and all the extra single player content off the beaten track of storyline which they have said are also cutting back on to "concentrate on main story". So I'm calling it now that will be 10 hour game with removal and cutting out of most non main plot content and replaced with measly MP content.

I'm pretty sure it's co-op same as most games. You don't have to miss part of the story (unless it's something along the lines of Portal 2, and even then I'm certain that it'll be split-screen. God help Bioware if they don't include split-screen.

I really, really dislike having to schedule fun. And generally finding people to play Co-Op with means just that, unless you're looking for randoms.

Then don't play it.

Wow, 34 pages already and just 2 hours from when the thread was started.

Yeah, only slightly faster paced than the last (now locked) thread, and that one was open while most of the English-speaking world slept. Definitely a "hot" topic.

Honestly, so long as there aren't things for single player that can only be unlocked in multiplayer, I'm cool with it. I'm rarely able to go on Xbox LIVE.

Ok I didn't want to stoke the rage inferno, but REALLY?  People are that anti-social that they refuse to participate in anything that involves other people?

I'm not willing to count the MP as good until I see it, but to completely dismiss it as garbage because anything MP is garbage reaks of... I don't even know what.

This is 2011, games have online multiplayer.  Get some friends and play it, or don't.  But chill out.

Dont think that's it. I think people are very concerned it is taking away resources from the SP mode.

The co-op missions wouldn't have a lot of conversations and wouldn't be part of the SP campaign?

How is that in any way related to what I said? It has nothing to do with rage - I just dislike Co-Op specifcally because its fun scheduling, versus competitive multiplayer that's just random drop in and frag.

If this is anything like Bioshock 2, Assassin's creed: Brotherhood or Dead space 2 then Mass effect is in serious trouble. All of those games I mentioned have one thing in common; their single player modes suffered because the developers had to divert resources towards MP.

No, they didn't.

I think your NPCs should be able to cheat on you with the Co-Op Shepard.

Again, I think its gonna be like MW2 and MW3's Spec Ops mode, in which case, that's not bad at all.

LMFAO!

They've confirmed Co-op and suddenly people are all "Awww, that ain't so bad. I guess I'll stop raging... for now"

Perhaps if you waited to find out more in the first place, you wouldn't have suffered from the psychological meltdown that we've witnessed today.

Stop being such a goddamn peasant. Gears of War had both SP and MP campaign, and they were EXACTLY the same. You could play either without missing out on anything story-wise. I can only assume ME3 co-op will function exactly the same.

actually, Casey's words "co-op missions" kinda hint otherwise.

I heard that there are special items and rewards that are only availible if you complete the multiplayer/co-op missions.

The statement that MP is not affecting the single player experience at all is not necessarily true. You have three factors in software development projects: time, quality, and money. Of those three, pick 2 to be done well and sacrifice the other. Yes, Bioware has another studio separate from Edmonton working on MP. But you still have to fund that studio. Bioware/EA had to allocate the budget to have this second studio work on MP. If Bioware increased ME3's total budget to compensate for adding multiplayer, then the quality of single player should not be effected. If Bioware did not add more money than was originally planned, then the single player quality will suffer simply because there's not enough money to go around. We just don't know at this point how Bioware has allocated funds.

Oh, FFS.

Ya know as much as I do that there is always going to be people like don-mika making such stupid comments as this. Soon as I saw the comment I just eyerolled.

As for the people whining about missing out on story as they have to go online. What are you doing right now? Are you not... online? Are you not... in a social environment? You are to both? Well then what is the issue?

BS2, DS2 and AC:B all had competitive MP- no co-op. Saints Row 2 had co-op (and PvP, but we can ignore that feature) and it had a fantastic single player campaign.

Someone in the locked thread that preceded this one already said that the entire writing staff should be fired for ME2.

That doesn't surprise me at all.

"Because BSN...BSN never changes."

Hah, good one!

How exactly? What about when you are on the Normandy talking to your crew? Or when your strolling around Citadel?

I'm saying some of the reasons people blame DA2 for being bad was due to bioware listening to some of BSN complaints.

Wait? The BSN wanted race selection and origins to be gone?
The BSN wanted no blood mage recognization?
The BSN wanted decisions not to matter at all?
The BSN wanted iconic outfits?

And we are supposed to take your posts seriously?
