We can officially confirm that there will be a multiplayer feature in Mass Effect 3. However, please reserve your appraisal until we are able to give more information. Our Executive Producer Casey Hudson says it best: "Yes, co-op MP missions for ME3: they're real, and they're spectacular. Rest assured it's nothing of what you've feared. More soon..."

Yes. Direct. "We tried to get it in, but it didn't work". As much as I like the guy, that's an outright lie. Yes. He was referring to Multiplayer, not Co-Op. It doesn't matter. Co-Op counts as Multiplayer, technically and that's dishonesty from a producer right there.

So, it's co-op multiplayer only? The settles a few worries. Do we know if it's Firefight or actual Co=Op missions? Because I can't see Co-Op missions working unless they're a separate story... which I'd seriously consider breaking something over, because I'd hate having to get other people to help me in order to play something. It's why I don't play MMOs, damnit.

I suppose we should've expected this, ME3 is the last game in the series(untill Bioware comes up with an idea for a spin off) so they gotta add something to keep people playing long after release.
One thing i'm wondering about is will everyone be able to use kinect voice commands while playing co-op?
"Garrus, use concussive shot"
"Hey, shut up! I'm giving the commands!"
"No you shut up"
"No you!"

Well, now that there's co-op missions, there's more to the game than a single player campaign.
So yes, the single player is no longer THE game. There's more to it.

What appraisal? Besides a couple of people, all I see is disappointment.
And Casey lied. Blatantly lied. Eff this crap.

Yes he did. When he said "But it didn't work". And "it doesn't fit". There is no way in heck BioWare didn't have running Multiplayer demos by E3.IsaacShep wrote...

Nope, he didn't. As much as you would want it, they never explictly said there will not be MP in ME3 of any kind ever. Fact.Jonathan Shepard wrote...

No he didn't lol. "It didn't fit, the mode we at Edmonton developed, but the stuff the guys at Montreal is developing is amazing!". Interpretation. You interpreted originally his words as denial, I saw that as PR question dodge.Phaedon wrote...

Good on them if they can pull it off without compromising the SP element. However, I’m concerned that we’re either going to get stuck with a very limited MP component that gets stale quickly, or see a few cuts to the resources allotted to the SP campaign (which I would not like at all). Call me a pessimist.
The trouble with MP in ME is that it requires some game mechanics, UI elements, and powers to be completely re-done, which is costly in terms of time and resources (especially since changing them is only necessitated by MP). Currently, the game is designed so that the user pauses often to change weapons or activate powers. With MP this would be impossible. Also, some powers make use of time dilation; these wouldn’t fly with MP and would thus have to be altered/discarded. The game has been built from the ground up to be SP, so tacking on an MP element presents a fairly significant challenge. I don’t want the SP core of the game to be adjusted simply to accommodate a tacked-on MP.
Now, I’ll admit that I’m highly biased; I don’t play multiplayer games, I don’t really like multiplayer games. I wouldn’t mind the inclusion of the feature were it not to cost anything, but the sad reality is that it probably will absorb resources that could have been otherwise spent on SP features. And sure, any newly implemented feature does that, but the issue I have is the scope of the work and the changes required for its implementation; there’s a big difference between opening up a romance option by adding a few altered lines of dialogue and tweaking an animated scene or two and adding an entirely new component that requires fundamental changes to the game design. I just hope they can pull it off. I’ll still be here, and I’ll still buy the CE version of the game. I just hope they don’t focus on this one novelty to the detriment of SP campaign that made people fans of the series in the first place.
