The only reason multiplayer is being added is to make money off of casuals, not to improve the game.

Yes. Brilliant and powerful observation, Columbo.

How dare they try to make money? You know, being a business and all...

I don't know about you, but they aren't getting my money. The fact they kept the multiplayer hidden for 4 months is because they are greedy and want MY money too even though they don't deserve it.

Did anyone else laugh as soon as they heard there was going to be multiplayer and immediately thought of BSN.

I literally lol'ed thinking of BSN [soiling] their britches.

I, personally, couldn't care either way. If there's multiplayer I'm sure it'll be fine. I don't understand the issue, but w/e.

The... I guess I'll call it pessimism (instead of blindly labeling it ignorance) in this thread truly depresses me. I cannot fathom why the inclusion of a CO-OP multiplayer mode somehow ruins the game. Co-op modes in games are quite possibly my favorites and I'm very excited to see one implemented in my favorite game universe.

A few months ago bioware was specifically asked if there was going to be multiplayer.  They responded by saying that no, ME3 is a singleplayer RPG.

Know you know why people are so upset.

I really don't care about multiplayer and don't understand why it's being included other than the raging reasons stated by others. ME1 & 2 didn't have this so why all of a sudden would they think it's a good idea? I think if a ME game is going to have anything of the sort it should be a separate MMO, the singleplayer game was working fine.

For all the bi-err, complaining going on about multiplayer that nobody outside of Bioware has playtested or experienced at all, it still stands that separate teams were and are working on SP and MP. Even if multiplayer caused the release date to get pushed back until Q1 2012, I'm *glad* about that. That gives the single player dev team time to polish the everloving heck out of the experience, something every studio wishes they could have.

I already knew ME3's campaign was going to be awesome- given all we've seen thus far, I firmly believe that with all the extra time they've got to polish it, the campaign will be well beyond simply "awesome". To me anyway, that's more than worth the delay.

I really would have preferred the trilogy and Shepard's story to be finished before they tried something like this.. They should have just finished ME3 as an epic SP game and then focused on making another Mass Effect game with "multiplayer elements" later.

I honestly don't feel like the combat is built for multiplayer and even if they make it work, it'll fail when compared to other shooters like CoD or Halo which are solely built for MP type games.. this just seems stupid. Mass Effect has stood apart from them because of the story and RPG elements but gameplay wise, as much as I love it, isn't going to compare and will end up just looking cheap and tacked on.

this is terrible, bioware hasnt had a good game in a while, there trip into facebook gaming was one of the worst games Ive ever played with the level it forces you to spam friends to be playable. And now this junk, yea ill just read a plot synopsis to see how it ends, cause clearly there is nothing left worth playing after the last two disapointments

I just find it amusing that mods are deleting posts here, judging by the constantly-changing posts at the beginning of the page.

I find myself wondering if people said what they thought they said.

I remember being blown away by the first commercial for ME(1)... I was amazed at how much a brief segment was able to hook me. I'm not sure what control Microsoft Studios had over Bioware and the content of ME1. When I heard Bioware was scooped up by EA, I was disappointed. My opinion of EA is not high, so being purchased by them only caused me fear with the sequels. ME2, while still good, cut out a lot of 'small' elements I loved (I do find the combat a lot better in ME2). While excited for its release, the changes / directions taken for ME3 make me wonder why new ingredients were added into the recipe? Why did Bioware let the EA commercialization engine affect the game design and features? Why couldn't it be designed for the dedicated player...and not for the larger audience? Why do they have to cater to the "new player" while trying to please the die-hard fan who put it 70+ hours in both games? Money drives too much influence. I guess we'll find out more on Wednesday.

Here's hoping single player doesn't suffer. Some games just don't need multiplayer tacked on to it. Bioshock 2 was a good example.
Le sigh.

It is going to suffer, because we can't mod the game.

Like you could mod ME1 or ME2?

Yes. The most important:

make the idiotic thermal clips to go away
add resources so you don't need to strip mine planets.

You call that modding? I call it cheating, tbh. That's like me putting my strenght to 99 in Kotor using KSE and saying I'm modding it, lmao.
And how are thermal clips idiotic? Infinite supply of fire with frictionless materials was idiotic as it destroyed anything challenging about the concept of the shooter part of the RPG-shooter ME is anyway. This is what I mean, every single ME1 elitist refers to things they don't like as stupid, as if people who don't like them are stupid. ME is just as much shooter as RPG, and guess what, a shooter with infinite ammo isn't challenging. ME2's system was better and more tactical, and actually made you think about where you aimed and what guns you carried. (eg. Mattock has low ammo capacity but high DPS)

It is literally impossible to cheat in a single-player game.   Cheating requires that someone else be harmed, put at a disadvantage, or otherwise wronged.
If I want to see how a single-player game plays with different parameters on any particular thing, then there's nothing wrong with me doing so, and it's between me, myself, and I.  It is literally no one else's concern.

Tell me changing the paramaters to completely rid the need to do certain things that are key to the feel of the game (thermal clips especially) doesn't fit with the below definition. Sure, may not be against anybody else directly, but it gives you an advantage against the average ME2 gamer.
cheating  present participle of cheat (Verb)Verb:[list=1] Act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage, esp. in a game or examination:

Who is the player modding an SP game "gaining an advantage" over?  There's no one else involved.  Just that player, and that player alone.  It's their business, and not the concern of any other person.

In a multiplayer game of any sort, the advantage is gained over the other players.

On an examination or test, it's the other people taking the test.

There is no other ME2 gamer to gain an advantage over, as there is no absolutely connection or comparison between me player ME2, you playing ME2, and other people playing ME2.

If I change the ammo per clip on the Carnifex, that has absolutely no effect on you, on your experience of ME2, or anything else involving you or having to do with you.  Each and every player and their experience exists in absolute isolation.

And of course, if they can lie about multiplayer, they can lie about the game being good. And the same people who lied before, are now saying how great the game is. See how the loss of trust changes things?

Why is this thread called co-op confirmed? There is no mention of co-op in anything.

So this is what ME3 was delayed for? Not additional QA? Not bugtesting? Not balancing?
Thank you, Bioware. You made my day.

Kinect and multiplayer gimmicks is why was delayed.

I doubt including MP is going to doom the single-player to mediocrity, but if I want to play MP I'd put games that actually put a large emphasis on MP like Halo, Battlefield, or Call of Duty.

I don't mind if it's 3 player co-op in the story, but otherwise, not a fan.

Bioware: So yeah, we're implementing a Co-op feature in ME 3 that enriches the game and is completely optional!
BSN: Raaaaaaaaaaagggggggggggggeeee! Betreyal! Sellout *****! We hate you!!

Or something like that.

Ignore something when I can raise a big fuss about it on the forums and demand that everyone play the game how I want them to play it? That's absurd.

They weren't going to get my money regardless of the MP element; I don't like the games.

How does this make them greedy, though? I mean... what are you paying extra for? More content? You're right, it does suck to get more game for your money. And let us be clear; you get more for THE SAME PRICE.
