I'm confused. First we're being told there is confirmation that there is no MP. Then HAI GAIZ, WE GOT MP HERE.

*Itches head and sighs* Well I'm all for this co-op aspect but this better not make the SP experience suffer. Because they (BioWare) can't afford to mess up or have some half-assed SP mode. Because... yanno, it's ME3... end of Shepard's / Reaper story arc. And... yeah... just saying, otherwise I have no problem.

But... mmmh. *scratches chin* I'll keep my pre-order. I'll just have to leave it to blind faith that ME3 will be good. Because... ah whatever.

*loads Human Revolution and punches civilians*

I've never been crazy about multiplayer myself but I guess the nature of the industry eventualy pushed them in that direction. We'll see. I care way more about finishing the story than I do about "pwning noobs" but oh well

Everyone thought Assassin's Creed Brotherhood was a cheap multi-player cash-in. It ended up having a really deep, fun, story-driven campaign, and an unusual, but super fun multiplayer that didn't effect the story and had a reasonable in-universe explanation for happening (Templar recruit training).

I hope ME3 goes the same route. Not sure who I'll be playing with though as have very few (= none) RL gamer friends.

This but many seem to ignore the existence of Assassins Creed and assume Bioware is run by a group of incompetent chimps who are incapable of making a game.

The Assassin's Creed example from what I hear is debatable. Some people say that SP didn't get affected and others say that AC:B was shorter than the others.

Now I honestly don't think that ME3 will necessarily suffer in length (unless SP content is cut out to accomadate MP) but think of what could have been without MP being implemented. Perhaps more refined sandbox vehicle segments, better AI or more non-linear gameplay mechanics. Focusing on MP in my opinion has led to the stagnation of SP gaming because there is no developer going out of their way to focus on extending SP longevity.

Thanks to BioWare for finally putting the rumours to rest. I actually have no problem with MP or co-op unless it's forced on me to enjoy the game.

What I do have issues with is when people skirt around issues and make vague statements about their intentions. Very misleading, very deceptive. If this co-op/MP feature is so wonderful, why hide it for so long? It doesn't suggest to me that there is a great deal of confidence in the product.

So, any more stupid ideas you want to throw in your games Bioware??

I know you guys are smart enough to realize that this game does not need any kind of co-op. You are taking money and resources away from making a better Single player game on wasted MP that I am sure will come up in the Raptr stats as played for teh equivalent of one hour or so. Wasted effort or something the majority of your fan base does not want and does not care about.

We have a multi-player Bioware game called Star Wars: The Old Republic. This is Mass Effect and Mass Effect does not need this crap.

I see EA has struck again....

Yes, all weapons are being replaced with snowballs, you can upgrade them by putting rocks in them.

You know, seriously with the fan vote crap and that ugly ass red-haired Fem Shep on my collectors edition and now this news.  It really would not surprise me.  I am curious on how they can try to screw this up more....

Hey, you leave my ginger Shep alone, we gingers gotta stick together.

Sorry, I hate red-haired Shep.

Shepard has black hair....  NOTHING will change my mind on that.

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving everyone. I am at my inlays having dinner, so ma typing this on an iPhone. Excuse the larger than usual amounts of spelling errors.

As mentioned by Casey on Twitter, we are confirming that there will be 4 player Co-op multiplayer missions for Mass Effect 3. We will have more details on this feature on Wednesday when the announcement was supposed to be made.

I know the immediate reaction by some is to panic and think of how this will ruin the Mass Effect series or whatever. PLEASE do not over react or assume the worst until you actually hear details on this feature and how it will work. I will try to get approval to give you details so you can make up your minds with the correct details. Marketing's plan was to announce on Wednesday, but I'll see if I can speed this up.

So, until you learn the details, I urge people to have cautious optimism or wary negativity until you get the real details. Thanks everyone. Stay tuned.

Wow. A non trolling Priestly that is informitive. Somethings wrong here...

Because it's Canadian Thanksgiving...
Enjoy it my friend, because this happens once a year

Are they slow enough to bypass kinetic barriers? If so, they'll at least be effective against the unarmored (read: female) characters! :wizard:

You don't suppose this is payback for railing against spandex outfits, do you?  ;)

Lol..

But come on, you have to admit this is a horrible idea.  What does Mass Effect need co-op for??

Why? Why is it automatically a bad idea? You have no idea what it will even be like. Calm the hell down and wait until you know something about it.

Hmm, lets see.

1. Not needed in this SINGLE PLAYER GAME

2.  Majority of fan base does not want or care about co-op so it is a wasted effort to begin with.

3. It shows EA's fingers in Bioware and the decreasing independence that they have from their corpoate masters.

4. Any kind of multiplayer takes resources and time aways from perfecting the Single Player.  It can be said that the Single player could suffer just by there being MP because of this.

So if we add this all up it comes down to: Why waste money and resources for a traditionally single player game to add a co-op mode that most of your fans of the game will NEVER use and hardly ever play?  It can't be for new players because this is:
A). A terrible time to bring in new players since it is teh END of the trilogy and

B). An RPG.  Adding co-op is not going to change casual fans perceptions of the game and what it is.

It hurts to say this in such a negative atmoshphere but...

Splitscreen co-op is so damn fun, regardless of the game. From Littlebig Planet to Gears 3. Too bad I am getting the PC version.

Finally got the time to log in here and post my comment, I have been following the story via Twitter for some time.

Well, I am glad that it is Co-Op. And not MP, not in the traditional sense of the word. I am not worried particularly, though I am against the feature. I'd much rather have something akin to single player Terrorist Hunt or Hostage Rescue for the earlier Rainbow Six games. Those added quite the re-playability.

There is only one thing worth getting angry over, however:
The direct rejection of MP by Casey Hudson multiple times, the latest one being shortly after E3. Yes. Direct. "We tried to get it in, but it didn't work". As much as I like the guy, that's an outright lie. Yes. He was referring to Multiplayer, not Co-Op. It doesn't matter. Co-Op counts as Multiplayer, technically and that's dishonesty from a producer right there.

Sure, it isn't as bad as some dev promises from ME1 that were never actually refuted until after the game was released (which seeing how Bioware fans tend to be towards the mentally unstable side, I am surprised how someone didn't promise suing over their consumer rights, or whatever), but, darnit, Casey, you've been a bad boy.

I feel the same way.  Maybe we're two of the only people who cares about honesty and respect for fans/consumers, because most other people seem to be focused on whether or not the added content will be "good" or "bad."  The quality of co-op is irrelevant to the issue here, at least for me.

You're not the only ones.

The dishonesty is what burns me most of all.  I'm generally opposed to MP, but if they'd laid it out earlier and at least tried to reassure us that it won't interfere with the single player game, it might have helped.  If nothing else, I might have made peace with it by now.  Instead we get nonanswers and vaguely assuring doublespeak for months before it finally gets leaked.  Now I'm left to wonder what else they may be deceiving us about.

I don't know if I can trust Bioware anymore.

I can't, nor will I ever again. Why? They intentionally twisted words around to promote the notion that there wouldn't be any MP in Mass Effect 3. The complete and blatent lack of honesty and respect towards loyal fans and customers is absolutely disgusting. I for one will not pay money to vindicate their behavior. All of you sucking up to Bioware, you think you're going to get a special treat or something? You're only fooling yourself.

This. It's an unnecessary risk to take on what may well be their most important game to date.

Assassins Creed Brotherhood, Uncharted 2, and Portal 2. All completely terrible single player games when they added in the MP, AMIRITE?
[/qoutes[/i]]

I'd not include AC brotherhood in that list. The singleplayer was so short. It suffered,

And yet it's the quickest and  best selling Assassin's Creed game right now and got Action Game of the Year. So it really didn't suffer much at all.
