Though I'm really damn interested to see how the multiplayer turns out, I honestly have to wonder why BioWare felt the need to lie, to us, their loyal fans no less, on the matter.

"Mass Effect 3 is a singleplayer game"

And you know who said that?  A forum mod.  A volunteer forum mod.

Really? Hmm, my bad I guess.
Well forgoing my  'Bad Bioware, none of ze tricky tricksies from you!' stance, I will go back to quietly anticipating the co-op.

I love how quickly everyone drops their own opinion and blindly follows the bandwagon after Priestly comments.

Um, everyone?  Are we reading the same thread?

I don't think he's even reading the same board.

I know the immediate reaction by some is to panic and think of how this will ruin the Mass Effect series or whatever.

When has that ever happened?

Oh yeah, pretty much every time a major announcement has been made. :D

S/S romances still are a horrible addition, if only for the fact that they took precious time and resources away from the multiplayer mode(s). :bandit:

FLASH NEWS - Casey Hudson is a lying liar who lies!

BREAKING NEWS - Casey Hudson and no one from BioWare ever said "there will be no multiplayer in ME3 of any kind ever" and fans are just trying to blame it on 'they lied to us!' because they were deluding themselves for the past year+ of the ME3 multiplayer rumors saga.

They were clearly not diluding themselves given in fact there is MP based on those rumours which in reality is a truth and was BW who used misdirection, misleading plus withholding the truth and telling others not to put much faith in rumours, that rumours are rumours and does not make them true.

There is atleast couch co-op right? If we are going to be playing co-op, then why not couch co-op?

Still iffy on it all tho. I am just hoping is it better than Assassin's creed MP.

None of the announcements have given me pause -- although I really don't like the omni-blade heavy melees by the look of them -- until now.

Nope. I'm a paragon who's quite saddened.

The reverse is true when it comes to me.

w00t, way to buck the trend pal

All these stupid generalizations...

I really don't know what to think about this. I'm glad to see we're talking about co-op missions and not PVP, but I'm still worried. Is this what ME3 was delayed for? To shoehorn in a multiplayer element to try and appeal to a wider audience? It just feels unnecessary to me. Nobody really wanted this and yet here we are.

What annoys me the most really isn't that they added it in, it's how they went about it. They told us for months that ME3 would not have multiplayer, but then they turned around and added it in. This "change of heart" combined with Bioware's relative silence on the Origin debate has me worried that there's more changes ahead that we're not being made privy to. Which sucks because Bioware has always been a company that's kept a close relationship with their fans.

"We couldn't find a way that didn't compromise the Mass Effect single player experience."

While I'm not jumping to hysterics, but as an English teacher IRL, this tells me that either this was a lie through omission type of thing, or he is basically saying "Multiplayer has compromised the single player experience."  Funny and sad, either way, though we obciously knows what he means.

Back to the English teacher thing, though- I'm insanely OCD, as it bugs me to no end that he said "an multiplayer...." in that tweet.

ACTUALLY you're not, because you just said you're "OCD."

As in, "I'm insanely Obssessive-compulsive-disorder."

For those of us who are TRULY OC, that is annoying as well.:P

You know, this makes me sound like a jerk, but I thought about that, and added the "D" becuase I didn;t think most posters would pick up on "OC"

Why is this guy "Orange County"?

lol, GOOD CATCH.  I'd love to gie you a gold star! :o

YES! Co-op missions sounds great!

It will bring a whole new experience to an already awesome experience. Co-op is HARDLY like the Call of Duty series. Lots of great singleplayer games have had a co-op element in the past.

All of you sucking up to Bioware, you think you're going to get a special treat or something? You're only fooling yourself.

Good grief, speak for yourself. I haven't played a game of theirs I've remotely disliked so naturally I'll be one of the people here who are anticipating details on this newly-confirmed feature as I would any other.

I think I'd enjoy co-op missions if I didn't have to play them online. I play Mass Effect on Xbox and I don't really want to pay for a gold account that I would rarely use.

Yet they never exploctly denied it. Just as lots of folks here like to say "it ain't truth until BioWare confirms it", they should also tell themselves "it ain't untruth until BioWare explictly denies it".

Thankfully they're an optional feature that not everybody has to use.

I want to note my keen disappointment at the "Boycott Bioware!" thread being locked before I could make a snarky comment about childish over-reaction.

I see a DRM coming along with this. I hope I'm wrong. If I'm right, that means you need interw3bs to play singleplayer.

You know guys, this respectively isn't that bad of a thing. It's been confirmed that the Co-op is being developed by a different Bioware studio and truly doubt it will have taken resources away from the main single player portion and if it does I will personally punch every manager at Bioware and EA in the face.

That said, where I'm really disapproving of is in this trend towards multiplayer games. While I doubt it will detract from development the inclusion of multiplayer was obviously unnecessary. I'm almost positive it was a mandate from EA, and that's just terrible. It seems that they have it in their minds that games without a multiplayer portion won't sell and this will cause a trend. It will lead to smaller freedoms within smaller studios as they will be forced to add portions to their games they had no intention of developing in the first place and there will it actually detract from development.

Honestly, this trend is despicable. EA is a corporate giant and little more and I hate to see an entire ARTISTIC medium be dictated by the whims of a bunch of corporate fat-cats. Yes the budgets games require these days are astronomical, but there should be a symbiotic relationship between developers and publishers, not a parasitic one.
