I don't remember any member of the BW team ever making a definitive comment on the matter. Anything that does not have an undeniable "no" cannot be used as evidence. Saying "likely won't" or "might not" is not the same thing as saying "ME3 will not have multiplayer in any sense of the word".

@jeffoconnor Yeah if not longer - I'm at 30+ hours in my play through"
I don't think that length of the game is a good indicator of quality or richness of content. Theoretically, developers can let the player do a lot of similar quests for the same NPCs in the same locations for a long time without having to create new ones.
But no worries, I am one of optimists here.
Therefore I am relying on what I have seen rather than what I think may or may not happen. And I've liked what I have seen so far.

Yeah yeah, new fanbase, blah blah blah. I get it
But this will not increase the sales. People don't by games like Dead Space 2, Dragon Age, or Mass Effect for the multiplayer, we buy them for the story
Now I am still excited about the game, but now I know that the whole game will be diluted from what it should have been. THere is no doubt in my mind this is more of an EA move, than a Bioware move. People who made this franchise should stand up to these idiots and say "EA this is a bad idea"
Kind of like some people should have said to George Lucas that SO many things in the prequel trilogy where bad ideas
Another thing it says certain multiplayer missions... I pray, I doubt it will happen, BUT I pray that you will not, REPEAT will not NEED to do thse multiplayer missions with another player. That would be bull. Not to mention the achievements to get for playing multiplayer which not many will get because THE MULTIPLAYER WILL NOT BE COMPETETIVE TO GAMES LIKE BF3, Halo Series, COD, or even GOW!!
This is likely the worst idea for this franchise. I stood by thinking (and after reading the GAmeInformers first reveal: No MP. Its a SP game)
Like seriously, first the Kinect. I was a bit miffed, but was like ok, no big deal its just voice command. Took a breather there. I like the melee attacks. Those are cool. But THIS! Sorry bioware, but nothing you can say will help me with this. Why Start a MP for this? Your greatest franchise?? Why can't you just leave it alone and do it on another game that you guys are developing? Why ? I almost guarantee most fans are NOT happy about this news, so why would you add it? We all know its EA! You are slowly slowly losing ground bioware.
Please don't lose one of your longest fans. Redeem yourself somehow
For **** sakes

But I sincerely doubt Bioware will ever answer us in that regard. They wouldn't even give us a straight answer in regards to MP.

That's not what his comment is about and you know that. Don't act like it's anything different.
In any case, they were dishonest. Do you want to argue that?

1) Quality? Why does Call of Duty have amazing sales? I see the quality of the multiplayer in CoD as absolute trash. Quality is subjective. You can't say quality has to do with sales when many people buy a game without having tried it before anyways. ME3 has plenty of hype. It's had a ton of marketing since the beginning.
2) What is every other shooter then? Why is your opinion on quality everybody else's opinion on quality? Does a game have to have a run-in-with-guns-blazing type of thing for it to be "quality"?
3) Nobody will ever know if the production of multiplayer has truly effected the single player. Unless they somehow possess the power to go into an alternate reality in which BW didn't put multiplayer in the game. If you can do that, then I'm impressed.
4) Hotkeys and slight alteration of the adrenaline rush power would solve that issue. You have no proof that the majority of fans don't want MP. Have you undergone a study of the entire population of ME fans? Not likely. You have no proof that the inclusion of MP has any effect on the single player whatsoever. They may very well have anticipated the extra cost and time and added it in accordingly. How can you say it is a waste without having experienced it? If many players enjoy it, how was it a waste?
1) Bad example. CoD once had good MP. Now it lives off name recognition. ME3 has hype off of SP, not multiplayer.
2) Most people don't think much on the quality of ME2 from one aspect only. Everyone tends to get caught up in the little stories that are happening. What Jack escapes Purgatory you're not thinking of the combat much. You're thinking, "I can't believe that guy betrayed us. I can't believe Jack's a girl. I can't believe a little thing like that cause all this damage."
3) That's why people use logic and evaluate conditions. Fanboys tend to turn a blind eye from such reasoning.
4) There are more powers than hotkeys. I have plenty of proof in that the game has continued to sell despite poor gameplay. I didn't say it would have an effect on the SP. I said either it would have an effect or play nothing like the SP, in which case it doesn't even belong. It doesn't really matter what they anticipated because it's still time and money going into something that, frankly, will not be any good because it is completely out of Bioware's skill-set. Players won't enjoy it because it's going to be a tacked on feature which is beyond Bioware's ability.

I don't have nearly enough patience to read through 80 pages of this, can someone tell me if co-op is separated from story mode? Or is it campaign co-op? Thanks!
Edit: Nevermind, post above mine says it already (wasn't there when I typed this). Dang, thread's moving too fast to keep up!
I don't think it's been expressly stated either way as yet.

2) I mean pure shooter as in non story elements. ME2 was a boring, bland shooter without the story. The balance of powers, weapons, enemy health, how health and shields recharged, how cover was designed, and level designs made the game extremely repetitive and extremely easy.
4) I named two problems. One of them is linked to three different primary abilities used by three different classes; the Soldier's main power, the Vanguard's main power and every time an Infiltrator looks down a scope. The other is a key component to power-based classes especially because there aren't enough quick action keys on a controller to use them in real time.
2) The playthrough you're describing sounds like soldier on casual. Everything you just discribed contributed to the game being tactical and challenging. Visit the ME2 build forum if you doubt me.
4) That still assumes co-op would use the exact class structure as the singleplayer campaign. Is it not reasonable to assume that players will have less powers to compensate for the presence of four of them?

I prefer this response, it's already more convincing, that " they have the right to lie us, or they lied us, so what ? " That's totally ridiculous. And if there is no S / S in Mass effect 3 as they promised ? They lied, too bad for you, so what Sansiona ?Icinix wrote...

Finally got the time to log in here and post my comment, I have been following the story via Twitter for some time.
Well, I am glad that it is Co-Op. And not MP, not in the traditional sense of the word. I am not worried particularly, though I am against the feature. I'd much rather have something akin to single player Terrorist Hunt or Hostage Rescue for the earlier Rainbow Six games. Those added quite the re-playability.
There is only one thing worth getting angry over, however:
The direct rejection of MP by Casey Hudson multiple times, the latest one being shortly after E3. Yes. Direct. "We tried to get it in, but it didn't work". As much as I like the guy, that's an outright lie. Yes. He was referring to Multiplayer, not Co-Op. It doesn't matter. Co-Op counts as Multiplayer, technically and that's dishonesty from a producer right there.
Sure, it isn't as bad as some dev promises from ME1 that were never actually refuted until after the game was released (which seeing how Bioware fans tend to be towards the mentally unstable side, I am surprised how someone didn't promise suing over their consumer rights, or whatever), but, darnit, Casey, you've been a bad boy.
I feel the same way. Maybe we're two of the only people who cares about honesty and respect for fans/consumers, because most other people seem to be focused on whether or not the added content will be "good" or "bad." The quality of co-op is irrelevant to the issue here, at least for me.
No - its just the fact that in the gaming / entertainment / government world - EVERYTHING - even outright dismissal can be taken with a grain of salt. Most people hate it. But you just shrug it off and make your own conclusions based on the evidence.

I'll bite. Name three (you wrote developers, not developer) who are the ones who consistently put fans first and profits second. I'll allow the people who made the Witcher 1 &2, that's CD Projekt (I think). So give me two more. I'd like to check them out.

Sure, and I get that. But if there's any story content involved, I'd like to be able to play it, but I won't play with other people.
No, I get what you mean. I was trying to suggest that I think it won't have bots, based on the design.
I'm in a similar boat in that I don't have that much free time to around coordinating with friends, barring this weekend thanks to Canadian Thanksgiving
I guess this probably isn't the thread for it, but I was hoping to get the devs to realize that some of us might like to play through the content (since we're paying for it) without having to play it with other people. I actually thought about starting a separate thread about it, but I figured it would be locked.
It's a good thought. It certainly didn't occur to me, but it would be a feature I'd appreciate. It depends on what the gameplay is like, I would imagine.

It isn't fixing Vehicle exploration since there will be no vehicle exploration during a Galaxy wide war.

Ah. Well if it's 4 person co-op like I read in a different post, they couldn't really do it with story mode.
