For the nth time: "could have" =/= "would have".  In an ideal world, sure, but this ain't an ideal world, and realistically, it's very much a possibility that those resources would have just not been expended on ME3 at all.

Another thing it says certain multiplayer missions... I pray, I doubt it will happen, BUT I pray that you will not, REPEAT will not NEED to do thse multiplayer missions with another player. That would be bull. Not to mention the achievements to get for playing multiplayer which not many will get because THE MULTIPLAYER WILL NOT BE COMPETETIVE TO GAMES LIKE BF3, Halo Series, COD, or even GOW!!
This is likely the worst idea for this franchise. I stood by thinking (and after reading the GAmeInformers first reveal: No MP. Its a SP game)
Like seriously, first the Kinect. I was a bit miffed, but was like ok, no big deal its just voice command. Took a breather there. I like the melee attacks. Those are cool. But THIS! Sorry bioware, but nothing you can say will help me with this. Why Start a MP for this? Your greatest franchise?? Why can't you just leave it alone and do it on another game that you guys are developing? Why ? I almost guarantee most fans are NOT happy about this news, so why would you add it? We all know its EA! You are slowly slowly losing ground bioware.

Totally feel you bro, I almost feel physically sick by this news(Im a MAJOR Mass Effect fan ) and Mass Effect 3 really doesnt need multiplayer of any kind, it really doesnt. Bioware already said they were going to expand the franchise past the third game, so why not make ME3 the best single player experience of all time then move on to make a really great multiplayer Mass Effect game? Like an MMO or whatever? That would be perfect, but noooooo. This is definatly EA's doing however. I'm fairly sure Bioware knows that their theres no need to cram multiplayer into a their single player masterpiece(especially the last one of the trilogy ffs), they arent the money grabbing ass bags some other companies are(like Activision. x|). And my personal history with EA games hasnt been all that great. (Dead Space 2' tac-on multiplayer, the tragedy of C/C4, the list goes on). 

We can only hope that Mass Effect 3 wont be ruined by this at all, I'm not trying to flame or troll ppl but lol Mass Effect is truly awesome series which I'd hate to see ruined. Imagine how even more awesome it'd be for being the only SP trilogy too... :[

I guess Half Life's the only one left that can carry that title whenever lifetime Valve decides to finish the damn thing. xD

No lesson to be learned for those who have been OK with the idea the whole time.

The lesson to be learned is be that people should stop sticking your bloody head in the sand doesn't make the piles of evidence go away, no matter how much you fear it. Aside from that, "Word of God" only applies to plot related stuff, and under no circumstance extends to simple PR/marketing as well

But we've had this before, both on a smaller and equally big scale as this time, respectively Legion's role in ME2 and the PS3 version, and we'll have it again in the future. Probably the remake of first game, so PS3/Wii-U owners will get to experience the full series...

Technically, ME3 is a single player game. The co-op missions are separate from the main game. The core game and the majority of gameplay is a single player experience. Also, no one at Bioware has said that there was no multiplayer.

If he is the one that officially confirmed it, then yeah - it would help as the OXM link doesn't really have any details on what the multiplayer component will entail.

Hmm, lets see.

1. Not needed in this SINGLE PLAYER GAME

2.  Majority of fan base does not want or care about co-op so it is a wasted effort to begin with.

4. Any kind of multiplayer takes resources and time aways from perfecting the Single Player.  It can be said that the Single player could suffer just by there being MP because of this. 

So if we add this all up it comes down to: Why waste money and resources for a traditionally single player game to add a co-op mode that most of your fans of the game will NEVER use and hardly ever play?  It can't be for new players because this is:
A). A terrible time to bring in new players since it is teh END of the trilogy and

. An RPG.  Adding co-op is not going to change casual fans perceptions of the game and what it is.

You're making too many assumptions to be taken seriously. You assume that you speak for the majority of ME players. You assume that Bioware is adding this because their evil overlords demand it and not because they want to extend the life of the finale of their biggest IP. You assume that they don't know how to make a MP mode that works well, even though a lot of the people working on TOR are also working on ME3. You assume that they took resources away from the story/campaign to do this and didn't have a separate team working on it. You assume Bioware should be fine with each installment selling just as many or fewer units than the previous installment.
All you're doing is making assumptions and not making an argument to support your pessimism. I'm optimistic and hopeful. This could be a great way to add life beyond several playthroughs to observe the differences choices make. And it should help ensure a lenghty DLC schedule.
