That 40+ hours also has to be non side quest eatra things to do in game.

Even though neither of the other games has given you any reason to expect such a thing?

The previous games all lasted 50-60+ hours playtime for me from start to finish.

It took you that long without all the side-quest stuff?  Because that's the requirement of yours I'm responding to.

I'm sure some of time was part of paused gameplay at time. But can't remember how much hence the rough times not exact ones.

Why? Why is it automatically a bad idea? You have no idea what it will even be like. Calm the hell down and wait until you know something about it.

Hmm, lets see.

1. Not needed in this SINGLE PLAYER GAME

2.  Majority of fan base does not want or care about co-op so it is a wasted effort to begin with.

3. It shows EA's fingers in Bioware and the decreasing independence that they have from their corpoate masters.

4. Any kind of multiplayer takes resources and time aways from perfecting the Single Player.  It can be said that the Single player could suffer just by there being MP because of this.

So if we add this all up it comes down to: Why waste money and resources for a traditionally single player game to add a co-op mode that most of your fans of the game will NEVER use and hardly ever play?  It can't be for new players because this is:
A). A terrible time to bring in new players since it is teh END of the trilogy and

B). An RPG.  Adding co-op is not going to change casual fans perceptions of the game and what it is.

You're making too many assumptions to be taken seriously. You assume that you speak for the majority of ME players. You assume that Bioware is adding this because their evil overlords demand it and not because they want to extend the life of the finale of their biggest IP. You assume that they don't know how to make a MP mode that works well, even though a lot of the people working on TOR are also working on ME3. You assume that they took resources away from the story/campaign to do this and didn't have a separate team working on it. You assume Bioware should be fine with each installment selling just as many or fewer units than the previous installment.
All you're doing is making assumptions and not making an argument to support your pessimism. I'm optimistic and hopeful. This could be a great way to add life beyond several playthroughs to observe the differences choices make. And it should help ensure a lenghty DLC schedule.

Good for you, glad your optimistic.

I don;t think those are assumptions at all.  I do think they really can't do multiplayer well.

I think it is a waste of time.  I don't need multiplayer to extend the life of a game series I have beat four times with different Shepards.  I think it is extended enough for most of us.  And DLC? Really?  Lol, whatever...

It is time and resources however you slice it by the way, but whatever you want to think.  Check the net, lots of people don't think this is a good idea.  I

Just looking at this thread, on a forum which is notorious for overblown negativity, it seems there is just as much optimism as there is negativity. You don't have a leg to stand on here, bud.

As long as another developer makes this, I'm happy with this and will enjoy. I want BW themselves to be working on the single player experience from sun-up to sun-down, though. I don't want any lost threads that could have been just for the sake of appeasing the multiplayer-obsessed masses.

Charming.

Nothing in the opening post backed up the claim made in the thread's title, so pardon me for requesting clarification.

There was enough proof. The official ME twitter alone should have been enough for you.

Welcome to BSN, where we blow everything out of porportion. Good, bad, unneeded, who cares? Everything deserves a 90 page thread of rage and hate.

On topic though, I have to wonder if this means ME3 will require Origin.

Yes? Maybe? Possibly? Plausible? Other words? No?

That's the one I was hoping for. But I guess we'll see.

I think the jury will take a while to say if that constitutes a life jav :D. Just kidding.

I already have money problems because of all the games coming out. So I kinda liked the fact that ME3 got pushed to March (same month as Max Payne 3 tho, my wallet is going to hate that).

Impossiburu! Let's all pretend that Half-Life never revolutionized the FPS genre, and even if we decide to admit that, never, ever addmit that it was the mother of multiplayer gameplay as we know it today.

Or else, all will be lost forevah.

Most popular theory (supported by some dev tweets) is that Bioware Montreal worked on the MP missions, while Edmonton focused on SP.

I clicked that link and it took me to a page with the following tweet.

ME3 will have a multiplayer option - we'll have more details in the coming days that will address your concerns!http://www.oxmonline.com/oxm-december-issue-reveals-mass-effect-3-multiplayer

That doesn't confirm CO-OP multiplayer missions.

Yes I do, played only the first. But this is much different. It was never on the first two games, why add it now?

Pinnacle Station was outsourced, so be careful what you wish for.  Not that it matters, as it's very likely being done at Bioware Montreal.

It was managing the inventory while looking out a window while going down an elevator, while "driving" the Mako.

I don't mind MP so long as the SP campaign is up to par, but one has to admit the journey so far has been a very personal one. Even in co-op I can picture my non-Shepard friend getting tired fast if her/his role is relegated to point-and-shoot Fable III style. What I find curious is that, originally, Bioware had stated there would be no MP in ME3. Well, I guess nothing's set in stone, but I'd like to be able to believe statements are definitive rather than subject to change according to time, place, or person.

If it doesn't mess at all with the single player game I have no problem. My biggest concern is the save game system they use.
