I guess its not a big deal. I mean its only a game right? I can still go play hockey with my bros, or go mountain biking, spar with my buddy's at the dojo, or even go kite boarding in the winter. I guess yes, your right I shouldn't be upset with this because I have a fullfilling life outside of video games, however THIS does upset me. Not sure why it should, and I never nerd rage Never have. I didnt even nerd rage at Jar Jar or C 3POs lame comments in the prequels (and im a huge SW fan). But this actually upsets me
Again like I said, likely just pissed off at huge companies controlling the creativity of smaller developers that they bought out
Just shows you where bioware is heading in the future I guess....
There goes our SP games boys

You realize that some of the most innovative or well recieved games had multiplayer? Or that Bioware's first game had multiplayer?

Yes I do, played only the first. But this is much different. It was never on the first two games, why add it now?

Bioware said they have been looking for a way to implement MP since ME1, I think.

Priestly came out in the thread and commented about the 4 player coop missions. The reason why it wasn't in the OP was because I have a life, I was outside picking up my copy of Dark Souls, give me a sec to add the link to read Priestly's comments.

Charming.

Nothing in the opening post backed up the claim made in the thread's title, so pardon me for requesting clarification.

I didn't mean that to come as rude as some have taken it, apologies !  Just lost a few thousand souls in my game, :P

As long as another developer makes this, I'm happy with this and will enjoy.

Pinnacle Station was outsourced, so be careful what you wish for.  Not that it matters, as it's very likely being done at Bioware Montreal.

I really hope they answer this during the Wednesday Bioware pulse.

There was enough proof. The official ME twitter alone should have been enough for you.

I clicked that link and it took me to a page with the following tweet.

ME3 will have a multiplayer option - we'll have more details in the coming days that will address your concerns!http://www.oxmonline.com/oxm-december-issue-reveals-mass-effect-3-multiplayer

That doesn't confirm CO-OP multiplayer missions.

*facepalm*
You do understand what "The official Mass Effect twitter page" means right? If they say it's true, it's true.

This:

I know the immediate reaction by some is to panic and
think of how this will ruin the Mass Effect series or whatever. PLEASE
do not over react or assume the worst until you actually hear details on
this feature and how it will work.

Tells me everything I need to know.  Allow me to translate for those of you who may not speak BioWare:

We still haven't figured out how to explain to our fans why we found it necessary to kill the game.  Please buy it before you find out how badly we raped it so we can still get paid.

The fact that they need to tell us not to overreact means they know that a GIANT portion of fans didn't want this feature.  Alas, poor BioWare, I knew thee well.

After spending the past hour reading this thread since the announcement was posted, what I take issue with is how many forum users are assuming that other people DON'T want co-op. Every one of my gamer friends has played and loved ME1 and ME2. Every one of them is excited about the addition of co-op. Every. Single. One.

It was managing the inventory while looking out a window while going down an elevator, while "driving" the Mako.

I like the Mako, just didn't like poor terrain design. I also liked the inventory, it's a game I am in no desire to rush to the end so spending time tweaking anf faffing about is fine by me. I also shockingly like the elevator as I found it more interesting than silly loading screens.

so is this the reason they delayed the Game? or is just a way they can promote the game without spoiling the story? both seems a lame excuse to me

If it doesn't mess at all with the single player game I have no problem. My biggest concern is the save game system they use.

If they're truly separate from the main story, then I suspect the co-op missions'll have their own saves.

He's right it doesn't. It confirms multiplayer but I have yet to see anything official that gives any detail at all on what form that multiplayer will take.

Who agrees that if it turns out to be a really bad, tac-on thing that'll drag down single player, we fans will reign our own Reaper Invasion on EA's asses?

Just sayin'...

I get the distinct feeling Bioware no longer wish to make single player RPG's or maybe even RPG's and instead wish to make hack and slash or shooter action titles now in order to compete mainly with GoW and such games, adding MP onto it because those other action and shooter titles have it. There is reason for lack of faith in Bioware from ME2 to DA2 to Kotor being made into MMO aswell as being decieved by manipulation of truths over past few months regarding MP in ME3.

Bioware started with multiplayer RPGs as an RPG maker, e.g. BG/BG2/NWN

The games were also huge.  BG2 was five disks.  Six if you include the Throne of Bhaal expansion.  I believe NWn was similarly huge.  WIth extra disks for two expansions as well.

Gimme a fifty hour+ rpg experience in ME3 and we'll talk. about shoehorning in some MP

It was on mulitiple disk because of the limit of technology then. Also, it was a different typeof huge.  You could quickly go throught the story but the extra quest made the game meety. This is the same case for all Bioware games. In ME1, you could beat the game in less then 10 hours if you don't do side quest. In ME2 could start the end run from the time you do collecter ship mission. It's a case of what you do in the game  and how quickly you do it the desides how long the game is.

Considering all other MP rumors are turning out to be true (standalone 4-player co-op), I say it's practically granted the inof that it's being done at Montreal is also true. Especially since the original job ad for "Mass Effect franchise" multiplayer programmer was for Montreal

Or the whiners are in an uproar and demand either a rick roll link, a trololo link, or that BW magically change the day to April first. :pinched:

Right. English isn't my first langauge, but what the offical Mass Effect twitter page appeard to say was that "ME3 will have a multiplayer option" and that they'll "have more details in the coming days".

After reading that tweet, it left me with little doubt that ME3 would feature multiplayer in some capacity, but it did not confirm the claim made in the thread's title: that co-op multiplayer missions had been officially confirmed.

It just stated that the game would feature multiplayer in some capacity. I was after clarification on the co-op mission aspect of the statement, as both the links in the OP were light on details.
