EDIT @Prince Zeel: Ahh - then please don't speak as an authority for what "roleplaying games" should be. Since you've never played one.
CRPGs (the C is for Computer) are more like advanced choose your own adventures.

OH go suck yourself. I'm so tiiiiiiired of these oldage ****s always trying to "school" me on the history of games. Listen, if this was a game design course, then maybe you'd have some sort of ground to speak of. but right now, we are dealing with 2011. The definition of RPG's have changed and as such, i can speak of playing them.
regardless if i've rolled the dice on a dungeons and dragons board.

The vision... I think it's still there. It's just, evolved.

Speak as an authority all you wish - you're wrong, and you sound stupid to anyone who has played an actual RPG.
Multiplayer has only recently been removed from Computer RPGs - I played through Balder's Gate just using my own character and my friend's character. We didn't use any of the NPCs. So you don't even have to go to tabletop games to discuss how wrong your assertions are.
Say what you mean - you don't want Multiplayer because you feel it doesn't fit your view of RPGs.
You're the one preferring your old world view over change - not I.

Do you expect roleplay to have any existence in multiplayer?

Now, all I would want is to allow my friend to make his own character while I play Shepard (or vice-versa) and we can leave everyone else on the Normandy.
---
Note: I don't care about multiplayer and I won't be using it... but saying that ME is a "real RPG and shouldn't have multiplayer" is among the stupidest comments made on BSN.
Not liking it is one thing - trying to say it's "wrong" for a CRPG is another.

Also the whole Mass Effect series being a single player game for both games. It's not just my "views". it's the views of Bioware.

Bioware hasn't just lost its vision. It's lost all common fcking sense. Some suggestions I read sound like they come out of an asylum.
I do not understand why Bioware wastes so much time on these fangirls and casual market losers. They are the bottom tier of the game hierarchy. They know little to nothing about good games and yet Bioware thinks its wise to appeal to them.
When Bioware made ME1, it was bloody brilliant. me2, still good, but trying to appeal to BANG BANG idiots. and now, what do we got in me3? multiplayer and fking men in the bum. YAY, I'm so looking forward to this.
thumbs down Bioware. thumbs down.
That's where the money is my friend. So it IS wise to appeal to them - from a business standpoint.

Been playing Gears 3 online the past couple of days and most of the people I run across are straight A holes who need to be knocked on their nerdy asses. Is this the community Bioware wants? This is Shepards last story, every ounce of funding should go towards making it the best it can be. Wasting money on a feature that the majority of your fans dont want is silly.

Bull****. I doubt it was a natural evolution from the company. Like someone put it. the Multiplayer fanbase is too influential to ignore.
I have a right to complain when moronic things are happening to my game.

That being said - I only took issue with you stating that rpgs are not multiplayer - that's not true.
If you don't like multiplayer - and think it's moronic - then gather up the folks on here who share a like mind and fire away.
I've got bad news - you're going to lose - but again, speak with your wallet. Maybe you'll be able to change the trend in future Bioware products.

You're right. I will amend my previous complaints. Multiplayer has a role in RPG games, but.
THIS series. the MASS EFFECT series, that is completely character driven, heavy plot and all those RPG goodness shouldn't have Multiplayer. I don't see how a multiplayer would mesh well with THIS type of RPG game.

Anderson stayed on earth to lead whatever military was left. That alone has an MP application in it, not to mention other planets fighting off the reapers.

There are a lot of little changes that make it feel like the original vision of what they wanted at the very least begun to change by the time the first ME was released.
