Will all squad members introduced in ME2 be sidelined?

Jack's getting a redesign so she'll be a squadmate for some of the time.

Yeah, it was impossible to kill her until the last segment.jreezy wrote...

They shouldn't exclude ME2 characters just because they might be dead. If you lost a character in ME2, you don't get that squadmate...simple as that. It's like how you could of played ME2 without unlocking some of the squadmates.

Well, they're already getting the multiplayer backlash, so now would be the perfect time.
Yep but i bet they still won't say anything.

Eh, I like Vega so far. But we're also getting that mysterious DLC guy, and probably another female squadmate as an alternative to Vega, and I'm pulling for a batarian.
I thought the news of a DLC character was debunked, did I miss an update?

Sure i guess some people will miss having them on the ship..just standing around doing nothing, But in the end it seems to me that it would be the amount of interaction that counts.

Realistically put; Do you think that Bioware would invest a great deal of time and effort, to grant one character a vital/significant role within the story, if he/she is dead..? All characters in Mass Effect 2, as squad-members, as much as I dislike, will get minor roles. ( Like Garrus, for example.. All the game he was in the middle of some calibrations, and his relevance was almost zero, he just filled the background and pleased the fans from the first game. )
Only way for a character in Mass Effect 2, to play a substantial role in Mass Effect 3 is trough a potential retcon, case the player in question decided to whack him. Obviously, retcons are never good, however Bioware done it plenty of times in their games ( Lately.. )
I do feel like Garrus will get a larger role in ME3 as he is the second hardest character to kill in the SM behind Miranda. No joke look at the statisics on the earlier comment "Harmless selfpromotion"
All the Characters that played minor roles in ME2 will have bigger roles I think. Well at least: Garrus, Tali, Mordin, Legion, Grunt, Miranda, Samara (When recruiting Asari), and maybe Kasumi with the greybox. The rest : Jack, Zaeed, Jacob, Thane, not so much.. unless thane helps you recruit Drell assassin's but I doubt it

However, I'd say Miranda and Jacob would likely return - they're LI, and current squad list doesn't include Vanguard-like char and may not include Sentinel if you saved Ashley.
Rest of them?
Mordin - likely stay as cameo
Grunt - tank role is taken by James. Maybe stayed on Tuchanka to help Wrex?
Jack - I honestly don't know. Having other biotic spec than Liara will be wonderful, and there are talks about her redesign, and she's LI... but there are too many humans already, and "adept" role is kinda covered, and she isn't among most popular squadmates.
Thane - leak from magazine implying that he's temporary. The sheer fact that LI may be temporary squadmate get me worried.
Samara - replaced by Liara. That's sad.
Legion - looks like cameo in demos.
Zaeed and Kasumi - were DLC, and I don't think there will be that many humans

But I'm starting teel like a fan of the wrong cast.
Welcome to the world of ME1 LI fans, back before ME2 was released, and it was announced that Ashley, Liara and Kaidan would not be squadmates. You are getting as much sympathy as we were. The general consensus was to suck it up and embrace the new. Miranda is my favorite member of the ME2 cast, and I will definitely miss her if she's got a small role. The only thing to do at this point is wait and see, but, as others have pointed out, the total cast from both games is huge now, and with new party members, it's getting to where something has to give.

5 Core squad members + ~5 free slots free to fill as we like.

What they should be apologising for is the way femShep talks to the man. There was nothing essentially wrong with his character beyond his rude 'I don't have any more lines in the script at this time' dialogue.Xilizhra wrote...
Personally, I think Vega is Bioware's apology for Jacob.jtav wrote...
Heh, but I'm losing hope for Miranda. We've already got two humans, and I'm expecting a new human female.
