Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger (the point we are now). Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering...

Those are just a few that I've played that had an excellent co-op component, Mass Effect will not suffer but grow, this will give us a chance to play beyond the end story for awhile as well!

Hell. Yeah.

Not to mention  The Merecenaries.....

Left 4 Dead 2. Best co-op game of all times (no single player though).

Ya great game, worst community in the HISTORY of gaming though.

You called Left 4 Dead 2 the worst community in the History of gaming,  I think you mispelled DOTA

This is going to be either really really good.
Or be really really bad.

New Super Mario Bros Wii. Though that could be both frustrating and hilarious. IMO, even bad games can be made enjoyable with co-op.

Okay guys here is the thing. Every single one of the titles that has been mentioned in this thread so far that has had co-op/multiplayer was one game spin off or franchise that they implemented the feature in the middle of the series. ME3 is the LAST installment of SHEPARD's story. I have never heard of a game doing well for implementing multiplayer in its final installment that has had all its previous installments been singleplayer. Most games have had multiplayer put in either from the start or somewhere in the middle never at the LAST butt end of a series.

Oh CS had the worst community for a decent amount of time.  But DOTA is by far the worst.  My friend tried one of those games once and he quit after the second game simply because of the community.

I LOVED White Knight Chronicles! I preordered WKC2 and picked it up on the day that it released, but I'm sad to say that I got stuck and haven't played it since. Stupid Duke Gigas. :?

I beat WKC1, but yeah...gave up on WKC2. Dang it. I was all excited to be able to import my Georama from the first one, and to use the same character, but my excitement soon fizzled out.

Resident Evil 5. With the Mercenaries. A small part of the game that actually turned into people wanting full on versions of it. Not to mention the campaign co-op was one of the best ever.

i just hope for 2 things

1. i hope the campaign doesn't turn out to be short just because the spent time to make the co-op mode.

2. i hope i don't have to "share" my shepard's romance moments >____>

3. i hope that this mode will be independent from the SP campaign with equal length of experience and good DLC to keep the fun up.

They extended the release 4 months, so obviously they were happy with the single player long ago.

I love you. Let's be friends.

RE5 is still my favorite co-op experience to date. Every facet of the game was tailored to a great co-op experience, and I still play Mercenaries regularly now, nearly 3 years later. I've been posting in multiple places that if (and now it's confirmed, so whatever) ME3 has a co-op feature, I'd want it to be a Mercenaries.

I'd actually like to write out my entire idea for a Mass Effect Mercenaries-style gametype, but it's kind of useless at this point. We'll find out in only a week or two exactly what this co-op thing is.
