I see someone ran with my "could name 10 games that added multiplay right now" comment, good for you

I'll add in Uncharted 2 (game of the year in bout everything, full 20+ chapters that stiill managed to add story objective co-op sepretly AND a kickass multiplayer mode, imagine that! (also uncharted 3 to which i'm enjoying the mp beta as i type) AC: brotherhood (which everyone was all "omg single players ruined!!! and then oh wait, it was still a 20 hour well made single player....lol you mutants never learn)

I'm going to say that RE5 had a good multiplayer.
But it killed the essence of a survival game, and I don't think any of you can deny that.

The multiplayer didn't necessarily kill it. Every other design choice did.

Linear campaign. Shooter-style level design. Nearly unlimited ammo/health/other resources. Enemies on motorcycles and holding guns and throwing missiles. Boulder punching.

RE4, which had no co-op at all, already killed the survival horror aspect of RE. It was just a shooter disguised with "horror" elements, like a dark color pallete and gruesome deaths. Much like Dead Space. From a gameplay perspective, it was just a quality third person shooter.

Ya because RE games never wandered into the realm of the ridiculous before 5...........

Besides the giant pharma. company creating zombies and having safety procedures worse than
Cerberus?
I personally found RE4 to be terrifying, if mainly because of my innate fear of chainsaws

I'm curious are you able to play COOP yourself? If you don't have online Access? I have both systems, I'm only WiFi now.

Baldur's Gate series and Neverwinter Nights made by Bioware and arguably their best games had multiplayer.

Lara Croft Guardian of Light.
Portal 2. I LOVE cross-platform online and I really hope ME3 has it.
Left 4 Dead 1 and 2
Trine
Magicka. Probably the most fun ever.
Terraria...well not really co-op but very fun online.

Pretty much most of the fps's released in the nineties before most of them got scripted events (and dumbed down level design....shhhh!), which was during the Quake 2-engine era, excluding Quake 2 itself. Thus I had lots of fun with the following:

Doom 1 & 2
Heretic (both Hexens didn't went real smooth when doing coop)
Duke Nukem 3D
Blood
Shadow Warrior
Quake 1 & 2

And from the more recent titles just Gears of War, still have to tryout Borderlands and Left 4 Dead though.

Personally I fealt The Transformers Multiplayer was racked on and Resident Evil does not lend itself to co-op or daylight. My over all problem is the pointlessnes of a Multiplayer aspect, created by a B team, that could be making DLC or focusing on marketing. Look at Uncharted 2, a game with actuallly good multiplayer, but really how busy are those servers? At its best this will be as good in quality (not content) with Uncharted 2 but 90% of the fan base wont use it and the people who play Multi-player games will be too busy playing COD:45.

Demon/Dark Souls are action RPGs, not storydriven RPGs. They're exceptionally GOOD action RPGs, but they are not what you think of when you think of a Bioware RPG title.

I never played Baldur's Gate, unfortunately, but as I recall all of the multiplayer content for Neverwinter Nights was USER CREATED. In other words, Bioware added an engine where modder community could create content based off of AD&D core rules, but their actual campaign was single player.

I could be remembering wrong because I never played any of the MP.

But I do also recall that Neverwinter Nights was a pretty weak game, in particular with how it ended, by Bioware standards.

I honestly can't think of a single game where being able to play with your friends is (or would be :P) a bad idea.

Then you have a couple of hundred games to choose from.

The number of games where those of us who think differently have is dwindling every day.
