!!This thread tries to attend to all possible encountered bugs during Mark of the Assassin DLC!!

In addition, I'll try to collect all possible solutions from different members during their gameplay and what the did to solve those bugs.

Please be gentle with me, as this is my first topic.

So far ../../../images/forum/emoticons/angel.png

Installer integrity check failure/bug:

- Users are reporting that the installer is giving out an integrity check failure. Bioware's currently taking an inlook to that problem, please refer to this thread for more insights.

Edit: Bioware's currently analyzing the problem, their are trying now to trace the users which are having problems to find out, if certain servers are adressed with problem of a corrupt file or something like this. Stay tuned!

Intro sequence bug:

- When the intro sequence is played where Cassandra is interogating Varric, there can be a slight delay/lag where the scene stops for a few seconds and a Loading... text is being displayed. Didn't encounter a complete freeze so far, just a small lag.

Chest highlight bug during the gate puzzle:

-
During the gate puzzle, where on each side of the room is a chest located, if a companion quest (like Anders one) is active, the chest on the left is impossible to loot. The trick here is to close the gates again, so that you can't access the main door. After this, the chest should be lootable again (important for the companion quest item and the chest itself).

Edit: When Tallis and Hawke both stand at the same time on the switches, the chests should be lootable afterwards.

Edit: After getting to the second chest I had Tallis stand on the stone in
front of the right chest and Hawke one the stone in front of the left
chest, the loot became clickable and the gates reopened.

!THX to Aluslim for this response on highlighting the chest bug!

Switching character bug during gate puzzle:

- During the gate puzzle, if you switch very fast/often between Tallis and Hawke, you might be unable to select on of the mentioned characters anymore. Pausing the game or leaving the area won't help, you'll have to load a save which you've hopefully created right before.

Cahir weapon invisibility bug:

- During this scene, where Tallis throws a dagger towards Cahir and misses him, he is not carrying his axe as he should. Instead, it looks like he's just holding an invisible item. This bug also takes over during the whole fighting.

Edit: On my 3rd playthrough, everything was fine with the appearance of Cahir's weapon, so I'm guessing it just was a graphical bug/glitch of my pc configuration.

Fight with Cahir bug:

- There seems to be a randomly bug during the fight with Cahir and his mages. When Cahir is killed and not looted within a certain time window, the chance can appear, that his body becomes unlootable. This can be resolved if loading a save before the fight or if the player is going to loot his body right after his death.

Wyvern fight bug:

- The main attack of the wyvern is a bite which swipes to the left or the right. I was able to trigger him into a "circle mod", in which it tried to bite me but was instead following my warrior around as my other members where attacking him from range. Didn't last the whole fight long, but I was able to bring the wyvern down to a 1/3 of its health bar.

Edit: I took Aveline this time with me and couldn't trigger the bug/exploit. So far, it only happens when my main character is a warrior. Didn't test what happens when Hawke is a Mage/Rouge and you've got a warrior with you.

Edit: Bug didn't appear anymore, so I guess it was a random glitch during my playthrough.

Free Bonus Item bug:

- According to the dlc page at bioware, there should be an additional free item if any of the achievements for Mark of the Assassin is unlocked, but it won't trigger. This needs further inlook as perhaps only a dev/bioware member could contribute a solution or even may know about this bug.

Edit: This has been solved. The website you need to go to to redeem The Deep Green unlockable item is http://social.biowar...da2/mota_bonus/

Thanks to Mr. Bartel.

Random crash bug:

- Some players encountered random crashs during fighting scenes (Hunting Grounds West, fight at the "creep" altar :3). May happens due to certain graphic drivers which are interfering with the game (nVidia pubished a while back a release of drivers which caused DAII to randomly crash during fight & cut scenes, officially solved with the release of ver 280.xx). There seems to be a possible solution if you disable DirectX 11 and switch back to ver 9.

Equipping bug with Tallis:

- If you've installed the additional Item Packs, Tallis won't be able (I can confirm that as well) to equip daggers that require dual weapon skill. Even if her skill tree is skilled for that, you get no chance to equip her so.

Edit: Just a small clarification from a dev post I received recently, this is to be intended. So Tallis has her own unique weapon set which cannot be switched during the whole DLC.

Tiles puzzle "bug":

- There seems to be a little confusion about the tile puzzle to remove the fire barrier. You've got two pictures, one facing the big hall and the other one (though both look the same, there's a difference at where the faces are positioned) where you had to get the colored symbols or solve the picture puzzle. When using the solution for the tiles, always be sure to use the picture which is located inside the smaller room (I hope you know what I mean).

Final fight bug:

- After defeating Duke Prosper and his pet Leopold, there can be a bug in which you can't finish the DLC. In fact, the final cutscene won't trigger. This needs further inlook of a dev.

Gate puzzle character glitch:

- When Hawke and Tallis are each on a side, where those two statues are located and the game is being paused, immediately after you clicked on one statue, pause again and do the other one, there's the possibility, that one of the characters is going to switch sides and it looks like one of the characters is kicking both statues. Bioware member Animositisomina is uploading a video to youtube, I'm going to link this as soon as its up.

Edit: Thanks again to Bioware member Animositisomina, the video is now uploaded and can be watched here

Edit: Thanks again to Bioware member Animositisomina, here's the video for the glitch with the magical teleporting of Hawke

Final cutscene bug:

- There seems to be a bug with the final
cutscene, in where the duke should die. In fact, afterwards the duke is
positioned on the battlefield either in one of the wooden parts on the
sides or on the main battlefield or anywhere, sometimes visible,
sometimes not. Bioware member TheKobold79 posted a few pictures, so that you can get a clearer picture of this bug.

MotA crash bug with ATI Series 5800 cards:

- There seems to be an error with ATI series 5800 cards, where the game crashes back to desktop. Please refer to this thread http://social.biowar...0/index/8508492 and post your system specs so that eventually a bioware employee can take a further inlook into this problem.

There appears to be some bugs involving certain chests in the DLC. They sparkle at a certain distance, but not up close (and cannot be clicked). The chests in the switch room appear to be this way; standing on the switches seems to affect this. Some clickable quest items are also very difficult to click on as well, such as the very first body to loot, and the companion quest items in the switch room.

Thanks for the response, I encountered this bug as well. There's a simple solution for that, I'll add it after my lunch :3

There is another major bug associated with the gate puzzle area. When repeatedly switching back and forth between your character and Tallis, one or the other will become impossible to switch to. You can't click their icon or switch to them by directly clicking the character. Only solution is to load a previous save.

There is apparently a bonus item (a ring) that is supposed to unlock with Mark of the Assassin. I've finished the DLC 3 or 4 times now, but never had any item unlock. Has anyone?

According to the DLC's promo page:

"What Triggers the Unlock?
If user has any Mark of the Assassin achievement / trophy"

I have all 5 achievements. No bonus item has unlocked for me.

My main issue is the game crashing every 5-15 minutes. The first time I had to pull the plug on my notebook, cause I couldn't even get to the task manager anymore or anything else for that matter. Just some really creepy loud noises, it froze and well, that was about 2 minutes into the dlc..As I said, now it just crashes every now and then. It seems to work better if I run it as the administrator and deactivate my internet connection, that worked fine for about half an hour now.

So far, I only played it on the notebook, so I have no idea as to how it'll work on my pc.
specs for my notebook:
Windows 7 64-Bit
Intel Core i5-2410M CPU @ 2.30Ghz
4gigs of RAM
Nvidia Geforce GT 555M

drivers are all up to date, DA2 has the newest patch installed.

Which version of Direct X are you using?

Hmm, your crashes would hint me at a malfunctional driver, I've had that issue with the 276 driver from nvidia, just crash back to desk without any errors, even during cutscenes. By installed the newest driver includes that also beta for you? Might be a solution to try.

Thanks for reminding me, there is note about nVidia driver issues on the DA2 patch page

On June 1, nVidia released their new 275.33 drivers. We have confirmed that these drivers can cause a 100% reproducible crash for some users. Although Dragon Age II PC Patch 1.03 was released around the same time,
this specific crash is driver-specific and is unrelated to the patch.

We are working with nVidia to ensure they correct the issue in their drivers. In the meantime, affected users are
advised to roll their nVidia drivers back to the 270.61 version to correct the problem.

I guess that must be it, then ^^ I'll roll my drivers back to the old version to see if it helps.
Oh, and @casamar: I'm running DirectX11

The game crashes constantly during the conversation arriving at the castle for the great hunt. Never even made it to the end of the conversation before the Wyvern hunt. It doesn't always crash at the same time though.

Played the main game and the Legacy DLC without problems.

Win 7 64 Bit, AMD Catalyst 11.9, ATI Radeon 5870, DirectX 11.

Almost identical stats to the above (Mihoshi) and similar problems. The conversation about the hunt went fine but it has crashed twice so far. Fighting the mobs that spawn from the altar in the hills and then again just as I zoned into the eastern section. Seems unconnected to those instances though as I fought the mobs once (died), second time crashed, third time fight went well and neither did it crash.

Just after the second crash I noticed a pop up fading from my screen saying 'display driver had stopped but has now recovered'.

Mah little Felicia can't equip any dagger from the Item Packs 1 and 2, gave me a message that dual weapon must be learned. But she uses two daggers, isn't this a dual weapon?

Made it past the conversation after several more crashes, then played for a while until I crashed oustide of a conversation. The screen went black and I even had to reboot my PC. Can't remember a game ever crashing my whole system since I moved to Win 7 64.

Might be the game isn't compatible with Catalyst 11.9 drivers. That's basically the only thing that changed since I played the Legacy DLC without problems.

Okay, added a few more bugs/exploits/crashes. If anyone encounters more, just post them here. Some bugs like the missing free item after achieving may require an inlook of a dev.

Ok this time I crashed again after a few seconds. And I got the same AMD display driver stopped and recovered message. Game seems really have a problem with the Catalyst 11.9 drivers. Do you use 11.9 too?

Hmm, interesting. I could alway rework that with closing the gates to access the main gate.

I solved the puzzles in the vault, but when I input the solutions from the paintings on the 3x5 tiles, I still couldn't turn off the fire barrier completely. The one solution that managed to work consistently was on the floor tiles to the left of the barrier on the map.
