So anyone else a fan of this series? Been a fan since Dynasty warriors 5, and have been happily kicking the crap out of armies ever since. Anyone else with me?

Been playing through some of the old and new titles and have been having trouble deciding on my favorite kingdom. I like shu and their ideals for the time, but wu has some pretty great characters and have been making due without any "cheating" geniuses like shu was lucky to have.

Also feel free to discuss your favorite game. Mine is Dynasty warriors 7 so far, sacrifices a few gameplay elements but makes up for it with a coherent and dare I say it, good story mode. Really excited about what the empires version might bring.

Also jim just did a jimquisition episode on why he likes Dynasty warriors, and in general I agree with him. Enjoy.

I play them myself actully. Some of them are "meh" some okay. I'm enjoying Dynasty Warriors Empires 6 atm. Haven't played the latest DW game. I've been thinking of trying out DW Gundamn 2 but I'm not so sure on that yet.

I think I stopped at DW4 and started at DW2, when the games were obviously recycled. Also Wei rocks.

The recycling isn't as bad anymore. Same old mechanics, but revamped graphics and story. I have to say I didn't enjoy DW6 that much. Less characters, less moves... The graphics were great but the gameplay suffered.

Although DW6 did pave the way for some of the later features. I have to admire what they did with it.

I agree that the way the story is told in Dynasty Warriors 7 is good. My only problem with the series is that I don't like playing through the story over and over again. So while Dynasty Warriors 7 improved in story-telling, it's still getting hard to care about what happens in it.

I started with DW4.

I bought DW6 and Empires, I like Empires a lot better. I also have Strikeforce, it's a nice departure from the other games.

You collect items to make weapons and stuff and each character has a super saiyan transformation.

As for DW7, after DW6 and watching my brother play it, it doesn't look interesting to me. I honestly don't like the way the story mode is.

But so far my favorite of all of the DW style games is Fist of The North Star: Ken's Rage.  Exploding bodies, can't beat that.

I've been playing since DW2. Huge fan of the series.

Also, I can't wait for DW7 Extreme Legends.

Empires is definitely my favorite spinoff of the series. DW5 and SW2 empires are my favorite empires versions though. I am looking forward to how 7 empires will be. I just hope they give us a more proper character creator.

Dw6 empires had the best character creator, and brought us the officer mode (which brought it closer to ROTK) but the overall gameplay was kind of terrible compared to previous entries. Deciding how to rule your land via random cards was annoying. At least in the other empires you could manage your kingdom with base commands, and learn the advance one later.

Been playing since DW2. I was going to skip 7 but I ended up getting it. I liked the storytelling and the addition of Jin and Yuan Shao's new look but it's my least played Warriors game to date. If an Empires version comes out I might pick it up - get a lot more replay value out of Empires.

Yeah thats actully fun I mean Empire mod, I beat it not long back as an officer lol I loved the ending video, more so when my dude was sitting with his rulers women joking and drinking his tea, then he comes in all -_-. Lol gets up and stand behind him, you know he'll kill him some day and take over.

i really like the "one against the horde" gameplay of the Dynasty Warriors series. i hear there's a Gundam version that's pretty awesome.

Indeed, it actually has much baser gameplay than the other "warriors" series, but if you are a fan of Gundum they do all sorts of fun crossovers, and even bring back old voice actors when they can. I heard that the latest one even allows you you to customize your mech.

Koei also made a "zombie" warriors that allowed you to play as one of three characters. The twist is you are leading the zombie horde and fighting the humans! It was a little wacky, you had to keep your zombie alive and use them for puzzles. (make a bridge, stop a trap, etc) Too bad it was only for the psp.

But Rain Mikamura isn't a pilot and neither is Allenby from G Gundam. They should be pilots!

i am not a huge fan of the whole of Gundam, but G Gundam I really like because it was more like Street Fighter type stuff. Not sure if that's a really good analogy, but it sound good enough to me.

And Gundam Wing, though I'm not entirely sure on why I like it over the others but not as much as G Gundam.

So, no one else has played Fist of the North Star: Ken's rage?

Yeah, I guess you could consider me a fan. I guess my connections with the series have dipped over the years though. I went from getting every game and every expansion to just giving the base game a spin. After DW4 and its expansions, I just stopped. I prefer the SW series though. I was disappointed by 3. It had some good stories but it was just so sluggish.

I think I started with Dynasty Warriors 4 and ended it with 5. The recycled everything really gets boring fast. I played through all of the 4th installment including empires and xtreme warriors. The empires version is probably the best of all of them, though. The rest are pretty suckage.

I rather enjoy Dynasty Warriors. I rock out as Sun Quan and slay whole armies.

Heh I am actually kind of the opposite. I only ever rent the main entries and then I buy the empires version when they come out. Although Dynasty warriors 7 surprised me enough that I bought it.

I was dissapointed with SW 3 if only because I can't play it. I curse whoever decided to not port it to the 360.

But with DW7 they have shown they are willing to revamp. They have finally got out of that silly rut. the musou's for example now have an incredble system to them... They all have a basic "type" of musou but all characters now have to musou's, and the second one usually has a condition you have to fulfill to do it. (I.E must be in midair, must guard, etc)

They also implimented a "seamless" battlefield system they experimented with in SW (2?).  You now play "parts" of a battle, and parts of the field unlock as you progress.

Yeah, I finally got a chance to play DW7 and did like it. I just wish there was more incentive to replay the stages. I love hearing character interactions and the like.
I guess my love for the whole series has been rekindled in a big way, ha. Been playing WO, SW2 and DW7 almost exclusively. Just bought the second WO and the xbox version of SW1 off ebay and am looking to get stuck into those too. Plus, I'm really looking forward to WO3 which is due within the next couple of months.

SW3 was one of the biggest duds that KOEI has come up with. The Wii exclusive release didn't do the game any favours however their partnership with Nintendo does seem to have its merits. I mean we've got the crossover with Pokemon!

Way to necro a thread...also the Gundam one was pretty bad, but the regular dynasty warriors is pretty cool, although I miss the unique stories, they have gotten lazy

Uh, posting in a thread that's only three months old with established discussion seems rather more sensible than creating a new thread on exactly the same thing. It's quite simple, really.

I personally hate those games as they pretty much ruins KOEI. KOEI used to make good historical strategy computer games based on China and Japan culture (Romance of Three Kingdoms series and nobunaga's ambition series). Now they just keep recycling those warrior games and it takes ages for them to release a new RoTK game.

I'm a big fan of DW ever since I played 4. It's just so much fun and really good in Co-Op multiplayer(two of my friends love it as well) But man is it hard to unlock high level items in it. My favourite factions is definetly the Wu(Red) and fav character is Sun Shang Xiang(the girl who uses chakrams). I also like the historical aspect of these games, got introduced to Three Kingdoms-era history because of these games. Likewise I also love it's counterpart series Samurai Warriors(I just wish they brought the PS3 SW3 to English, I don't wanna get a Wii just to play it, it's ridiculous)
