First of all, I just want to say that I myself am a Talimancer.
She's my Li on every one of my MaleShep playthroughs and she is always in my squad.
I guess why I like her is because she is that shy nerdy girl that you rarely get to meet in our messed up little world.
But I like her as a character in a video game.

Some of the Talimancers here just creep me the hell out.

For instance, I saw a "What Does Tali's Sweat Taste Like"  thread awhile back.
I dunno if they were trolling or if they were serious, but that is hella creepy.
Who even wonders about this kinda stuff anyway? People are really this obssesed with Tali?
To the point of complete and utter zealousy? It's like there's a damn cult forming because of Tali.
It makes me embarrassed to call myself a Talimancer.

I'm all for Tali and her "normal" fanbase, but some of the extremists here are a odd bunch indeed.

I'm sorry if this offended you, but I needed to vent. We truely have and epidemic on our hands here people.
We need to get these over-the-top Talimancers some help.

*braces for the ****storm that is about to ensue*

Did you also know that there's an entire separate forum dedicated to Tali?

Some of the Tali fanbase can be a little creepy, but for the most part I think they've calmed down or have moved on since Tali became romanceable. It was much worse on the forums before the release of Mass Effect 2.

Yes, but this isn't about Tali. It's about the fanbase.

The majority of the fanbase doesn't post on the public forums.

Yeah, Tali'Zorah.org.
A whole site dedicated to her.
That's not good.

That was precisely what I was referring to.

Now I mean, there's liking a character, then there's just ... well, that.

As I said, I like her, really like her, but not to those kind of extremes.

Funny, there hasn't been any creeping in the ME3 Tali thread, nor do I remember any in the last ME2 Tali thread.

There were more creepy types when there were more people needing to let the internetz know how much they liked Tali. Back in the, by internet standards, ancient thread which you pull the infamous sweat tasting... thing from, there was a huge amount of people posting. Just that thread beat 10,000 pages, and subsequent threads kept up, even with most of the people from the original moving to a private group.

I've yet to see anyone creeping on Tali in recent *months*, and can probably count on one hand how many times I've seen someone make lewd remarks, which usually gets the poster smacked around.

EDIT: In fact, now probably the character with the least lewd remarks, from what I've seen glancing at fanthreads...

But the BSN needs to stay true to it's soul, and so keep thinking of negative things to say, even if they don't make any sense, are pointless, or aren't relevant. It's proper etiquette here.

Speaking of TaliZorah.org, this thread is a perfect example of the creepy Talimancer:

http://talizorah.org...hp?topic=1894.0

The OP is talking about Tali as if she's his real world girlfriend, rather than Shepard's, and as if he's actually in love with her. Some of the other posters follow suit.

Everybody is different. What you may find as normal another may find weird. I too find those kind of comments off putting but I just ignore them. I'd also be careful singling out the Tali fanbase, I'm sure you'd find similar content in other character threads, but I've never kept track.

My personal rule of thumb on BSN and the internet in general really is to never say anything I'd be too embarrassed to say among my friends, which is why I'll gush over Liara as much as I want but I'll never go in to marriage/babies/i dream about her etc. kind of things because it's just ... well I find it a bit much.

For example, the posts on this link are just flat out strange:

Read. Or don't, if you value your soul.

I enjoy secrets so i never researched anything about the new romance options. I've loved Tali more and more. Every word was just another layer of glue. Her voice and personality were first to raise my eyebrows. Then her movements came in, slowly I began to love her body, the designs of her suit her hands and her legs. I fell in love with the recurved legs they were so fascinating. I was disappointed that I couldn't pursue anything with her.

ME2 comes around. Again, i like secrets so i do no research into the LI's, I didn't even know that you could recruit Tali and Garrus back. When i first saw her on freedom's progress, I'll say that my heart did stop and my mouth opened slightly. The "No Way" factor came into play which became a "Please Recruit Her". Finally when I saw the mission to recruit Tali, I dropped every mission i was doing and immediately recruited her. Stayed in my team ever since. I visited engineering after every mission, I visited everyone after every mission. And this is the part that I remember the most.

"The most intimate thing we can do is link our suit environments and even then we will get a little sick. It's the biggest sign of trust among our people. I haven't trusted anyone enough to... well not quarian..."

I think I stood looking at the top option for five minutes, i was in shock and slowly breaking into a large smile. After my pause, I clicked it immediatly, and smiled more as she freaked out with her arms flying around nervously. I was speechless. It was amazing, everything. I stopped talking to the rest of the crew and only went down to engineering. Everyday i went to talk to her, it made my day. It was always simply amazing.

Then right before the collector mission, the final romance scene. I couldn't stop smiling and I couldn't stop staring at the screen. Liz actually managed to make her sound nervous and desperately in love with him. The strains and cues in her voice were spot on to the situation. When Shepard took the mask off and the screen faded after the pounce. I was so mad. I played the suicide mission the next day. I couldn't do anything more after being led on by that scene.

Please explain.

Firstly, the majority of the entire fanbase does not actively post on BSN. Many of my friends only have BSN accounts for DLC and CNetwork activation.
Those on the extreme ends of any fanbase are generally far more vocal, searching for forums and sicussion boards to discuss the subject that they are 'obsessesd' about.
Thus, TaliZorah.org

Those who wanted to avoid the obsessiveness, but still were major fans, created/joined Clan Zorah.

The simple fact that there seems to be more creepiness over one character does not neccesarily mean anything. It's really just basic statistics.

Regardless of the fanbase, there will be a similar percentage of people who are: Creepy, more vocal, or both.
If you notice that there seems to be a huge amount of creepiness in the Tali fan base, that does not mean that there are a higher percentage of creepers in that fanbase, it only means that that character has a much larger fanbase in general.

Ever since the monster threads of old, the real creepiness has actually subsided manyfold. In fact, I've been far more disturbed by what I have seen in other fan threads than the Tali one.
In the Tali one, the creepers went off and formed Talizorah.org, leaving the vocal people who were not as creepy here on BSN, thus forming a visual inbalance between the normal fans and those who were extrememly vocal about her.

And referring the the 'Tali's sweat' thing, I don't get why people think that that is such a bad thing.
Let me give you an example.
I loved my physics class. I loved it so much that I started applying my knowledge to other things.
Before I knew it, I had calculated the effectiveness of using Volus as the ammunition in Everest class dreadnoughts (roughly 23 times more energy than the standard slug based on rought estimations on mass and size, assuming that the volus would reach the same impact velocity and has a consistant density and 100% of the energy was released on impact).
If I was hugely into biology, applying my knowledge to other subjects would come as a great bonus and I would spend much of my own free time to such.
Before I knew it, I would probably have something similar.

So it's less of a 'creepy talimancer' thing and more of a 'Holy sh*t I'm smart' kind of thing.

And besides, I know the person who wrote that blog. He is probably the smartest person I know and is definitely not one of the 'creepy' talimancers.
