Talihating is so last year. If it wasn't Tali, it would be something else. There's a subset of creepy obsessive types out there who will cleave unnaturally to a fictional character or a fictional idea of a real person. It really doesn't have anything to do with Tali, other than that her character traits seem to form a "perfect storm" for that type of "fan". But that doesn't mean that ALL Tali fans are gross weirdos. Just that the lunatic fringe camps closer to Tali than other characters around here. But there are gross weirdo fans of EVERY character, let's not forget.

Every community here is creepy to some degree. Some, more then others.

For instance, I thought Kasumancers were all normal people. Until I accidently clicked on a Kasumi fanfic, not noticing the "M" rating. I stopped reading right around the part she grabbed Jacob's... ya.

I've never entered the Liara thread. How bad are they?

I enjoy secrets so i never researched anything about the new romance options. I've loved Tali more and more. Every word was just another layer of glue. Her voice and personality were first to raise my eyebrows. Then her movements came in, slowly I began to love her body, the designs of her suit her hands and her legs. I fell in love with the recurved legs they were so fascinating. I was disappointed that I couldn't pursue anything with her.

ME2 comes around. Again, i like secrets so i do no research into the LI's, I didn't even know that you could recruit Tali and Garrus back. When i first saw her on freedom's progress, I'll say that my heart did stop and my mouth opened slightly. The "No Way" factor came into play which became a "Please Recruit Her". Finally when I saw the mission to recruit Tali, I dropped every mission i was doing and immediately recruited her. Stayed in my team ever since. I visited engineering after every mission, I visited everyone after every mission. And this is the part that I remember the most.

"The most intimate thing we can do is link our suit environments and even then we will get a little sick. It's the biggest sign of trust among our people. I haven't trusted anyone enough to... well not quarian..."

I think I stood looking at the top option for five minutes, i was in shock and slowly breaking into a large smile. After my pause, I clicked it immediatly, and smiled more as she freaked out with her arms flying around nervously. I was speechless. It was amazing, everything. I stopped talking to the rest of the crew and only went down to engineering. Everyday i went to talk to her, it made my day. It was always simply amazing.

Then right before the collector mission, the final romance scene. I couldn't stop smiling and I couldn't stop staring at the screen. Liz actually managed to make her sound nervous and desperately in love with him. The strains and cues in her voice were spot on to the situation. When Shepard took the mask off and the screen faded after the pounce. I was so mad. I played the suicide mission the next day. I couldn't do anything more after being led on by that scene.

Far better than you'd probably have guessed - not bad at all

Sometimes... they even have friendly and productive discussions about things

I'm glad I've never got into fanfic.
I've heard bad things man.
As far as the other fan threads go, the Garrus one is sorta creepy.
Other than that, I have no idea.

Garrus is awesome, but I for one am not interested as to what naked Turians look like.

Ill say this again.... more fans means more creepy fans. Its simple probability. Tali fans are no worse than other fans. Do you ever go to any other fan threads? If you do then you probably arent very observent.

Yeah, being a Talimancer myself, i find these people's obsession a little unsettling.

But you admit that they are no worse than other fans? Theres just more of them.

I loved Tali as a character myself for the most part.

I didnt want to romance her or anything because to me she was like a nerdy little sister and because Quarians arent sexually compatible with humans according to ME1 established lore. So for me it wasnt even a possibility.

The fact that she was made a possibility in ME2 by ignoring Mass Effects established lore struck me as blatant fanservice. And I like to pretend it didnt happen. lol. Thats just me tho.
In ME2 I liked her as a character more than in ME1 but I found I could only talk to her so much and then i would have to avoid her because she would always ninjamance my MaleShep (a problem with ALL the romances in ME2 actually. The rampant and annoying ninjamancing.) which made me sad cos I really did like her.

Then I came onto BSN and encountered the Talimancers.

And now I no longer like her, because of the rabid creepy Talimancers. They put Tali into such a negative light for me that she was ruined for me. Course it didnt help that some of these Talimancers are so anti-ss (being total hypocrites about it).

1. please tell me how the lore was changed to allow for her to be a LI.
2. Tali fans are no worse than other fans. Theres just more of them. Also, if you let other people`s attitude towards a character obscure your perception of that character, then thats your fault.
