I may be a bit dense here and everyone will say that the answer is obvious but were the wards really breaking down on Corypheus' prison?   And if they were, why couldn't they just be strengthened by Hawke rather than broken?   Was it that Hawke could then leave but companions wouldn't be able to?  I was rather wondering how Malcolm got out if it was meant to be a one way thing and assumed it must have been to do with the key.

I also wondered how long it is going to take the Grey Wardens to realise that they take secrecy at bit too far.  There was clearly a reason why they felt they could only imprison Corypheus and not kill him originally, so how come no one thought to enlighten Janeka and her companions about this?    Ditto Larius.  Was Larius already under Corypheus' control when he suggested killing him?  Naturally Hawke would not know about the soul jump thing but it would seem that even Grey Wardens aren't made party to the secret until Archdemons appear.

Which leads me onto Flemeth.  Was she aware of Corypheus awakening and increasing his influence in the area of Kirkwall and that Hawke blood was needed to break the seals that would allow him his freedom?   This would account for both her timely intervention near Lothering and also her need to be smuggled into the Freemarches.  Was it the attention of the Grey Wardens she wished to avoid and was the meeting she was preparing for a rendeavous with Corypheus?

I’m not convinced that there was something wrong with the wards. Maybe the wards were weakened enough for Corypheus to enter Janeka and Larius’ mind. I really feel that both Janeka and Larius were under Corypheus influence before Hawke arrived at the prison. Janeka wanted Hawke’s blood to release Corypheus so that she could study him.

It is just my opinion, but I don't think Flemeth cares much for darkspawns. I could see her setup Hawk to start the war. I don't think she cared much for Corypheus due to his role in the taint. I keep thinking she is the tricksters. She told Hawke she was the fly in the ointment.

So far Flemeth had saved Marc, the Warden, Alistair and Hawke. Could she have sent a piece of herself in the amulet because she knew the Warden was going to try to kill her? She allowed the Warden to think that Flemeth is gone for a while???

There are some things that are even out of Flemeth's control. I suspect that one of them is the blight/taint.

If we are to believe Morrigan, the dark ritual was Flemeth's idea, to allow an old god to jump from a wholly tainted body/mind to a partially tainted body/mind - the child having some of the taint through the warden parentage. Also allegedly this is how Flemeth achieves immortality - by continually body jumping to her own offspring. In which case, if she knew that Corypheus was an intelligent darkspawn, she might also guess that he would attempt the same body switch. May be once he is in a warden body, his mind would not deteriorate as a normal person's does. In fact the only instance of body jumping involving the death of both the host and the jumper is with the archdemon and even then we only have the assurance of the Grey Wardens that this is actually what happens - perhaps they are wrong.

I have always wondered how the Grey Wardens discovered how to destroy the archdemon and where Flemeth got her information from. There are too many similaities concerning the soul/body jump to be just coincidence. In the case of Corypheus clearly if there is another tainted vessel nearby, he automatically jumps and survives the process. Interestingly enough, my last playthrough I had Anders and Bethany with me who were both Grey Wardens, so I must assume that Anders was no good as a host because he was already occupied and the "blood of the Hawke" preserved Bethany from a similar fate. So the problem is, if when you kill one of these entities, they simply jump to another host or reincarnate from a piece of themselves, how do you get rid of them permanently?

What if Morrigan Lied? Flemeth warned Marc of the Fifth Blight. What if raising a child with the soul of an old god was really Morrigan’s idea? Morrigan seemed pretty independent to me. I guess I reserve judgment on Flemeth until I get more information. Maybe the book Asunder will give us more information.Posted Image
