I am split. First its there is no impact on the single player campaign but then the Galaxy at War mode allows you to raise the "Galactic readiness level" which impacts the single player campaign? Why? I understand its an alternative to raising the level solely thru single player campaign only but wont that cheapen the story somewhat? Wont it reduce the urgency of the situation... (one man leading an unprepared galaxy against an almighty reaper fleet) when suddenly the galaxy turns out not to be unprepared after all.
If I do manage to make three friends btwn now and launchi will play multiplayer, after all I would have bought the game, which I feel is going to be worth every penny of those 90 preorder Euros.
Ill be your friend... depending on what platform

I am amazed on how fast people have drank the Kool-Aid.
Must have been some blue or red text in there somewhere.
I'm glad I cancelled my preorder. Needed to be done...still keeping an eye out just because I want to know how the story will end.
It sure as heck did effect the single player story. Resources used on multiplayer could have been used adding more features, planets and unique missions. Four-player co-op....how will dialogue work with that? It can't. Which means its a shootfest.

Multiple races? All the classes? Impact on the campaign?
Actually looking forward to it now.

I am sorry to say but I do have no interest in a co-op section of the game.
The Mass Effect series has always been about, for me, tailoring the events from the perspective of Shepard. It's about creating that personal experience that is unique to me alone.
Co-op, no matter how well done it is, can only detract from that. I will not be having that unique experience as I will have to now share it with three others.
Ah, you didn't even read the FAQ posted with the news.
Co-op is completely optional.

This, co-op is pointless without split screen.NOD-INFORMER37 wrote...
I'm a little confuzed by this....
Also is it JUST online co-op or is split screen an option?
PLEASE TELL MEH THERES SPLIT SCREEN CO-OP!

Wait, am I reading this right? The "galactic readiness" thing in the SP campaign will be determined by some MP "Galaxy at War" feature?
(goes back and reads OP again)
I *did* read it right! Holy crap, BW, way to fook it right up. This will be interesting...
And yet you still apparently missed the part where readiness isn't solely determined by the MP component, which is entirely uneeded to achieve the maximum, thus allowing you to ignore it entirely if you so choose.
Uhuh. You also don't "need" a harvard education to get a good job, but it helps.

In DA:A, to get the best ending you had to fully upgrade the keep, which required gold and locating various resources. What if, instead of having to fully upgrade the keep, you could instead do a series of co-op battles against darkspawn to lessen their numbers? This would achieve the same result of allowing the keep to survive the darkspawn attack.
That's kind of how I see this Galaxy at War thing working.

I want this to not be in my Mass Effect but it seems to late for that.
Is your sole purpose in life to be a miserable negative-nancy?
I feast on your tears. They are delicious.
Do you mind sharing those tears? I'm a bit parched right now.
The implementation of co-op sounds interesting, and...it is completely optional. As long as the single-player campaign itself has roughly the same amount of time as ME2 did, then I'm fine with the new addition.
Keep believing that there... Keep believing that.
Sorry but this is a bad idea and I just feel it is going to mess up the game, through bugs, being rushed, or many other reasons. Yeah, I don't have good feelings about this at all and I am not quick to fall for the PR they rushed out to quell the anger.
ME1 and ME2 had bugs. ME3 won't be rushed since it has been delayed for few months up to a year. The first set of problems didn't ruin the games and the second isn't likely to happen anytime soon.

Did you not read what was typed?
This sounds awesome if implemented well and I think Bioware has done some amazing work with the customization thus far.

Am *I* twelve?
I'm not the child sitting far away from all the other kids, pouting with my lip jutting out.
No, I am the one not drinking the PR kool-aid.
PR Kool-aid?
I'm indifferent on the co-op implementation. I'm just enjoying the sights.

A seperate team developed the MP not the same so different resources so your pouting is invalid.gammameggon wrote...

I agree. I don't see how any of that in any way contradicts what I said.
Heh, fair enough. (Multitasking so blame it on that.)
GoW is an MP feature, that much is clear. They have "unannounced" methods of allowing SP gamers to get the benefits of the GoW feature in their SP games (so they're not at the disadvantage that they otherwise would be) which means even if this is just Marketing 101, it's still going to suck.
Funny, I never had a problem with the MP thing until now, as I always imagined it would be seperate to the SP game. One more reason not to buy ME3.
I don't agree though. "Galaxy at War" sounds a lot more like a total-game term to me from that press release. Again, much like the squad readiness of ME2.
I'll need to get confirmation though if possible. I'll bug him about it.

Excellent question !
That was the first thing that came to my mind too...
If thats true then all the rage I ever had against this multiplayer madness will vanish. :]
Offline multiplayer I find is the sweet spot between no multiplayer and annoying pvp multiplayer

Bioware has done the impossible.
BSN: I'm pissed off. Bioware is nothing but a bunch of liars and money grabbing Candians.
Bioware Dev: In the next game you get to play a Krogan.
BSN: I...really? OMG I love you so much I'll never get pissed again.
Bioware Dev: Of course not <_<
BSN: I'm pissed off. Bioware is nothing but a bunch of liars and money grabbing Candians.
Ironic. It's sort of like the cycle in Mass Effect.
Except instead of happening every 50,000 years, it is more like 50 minutes.

You're conflating two different contexts: effect of developing MP on SP and the gameplay effects of the MP mode on the SP mode.

I thought the official announcement was going to be on Wednesday. I guess the reactions moved up the timetable.
Chris Priestly posted in the other thread that he would attempt to get some information regarding mp before Wednesday. That same post was attacked multiple times. Now that he got it everyone is just praising it like the second coming.
Stay classy BSN.
This is why I always shake my head and laugh when people jump to conclusions when they have little to no information. I see it all the time with many things. Kind of reminds me when many people jumped to the conclusion that Leliana was insane from her trailer. I was just waiting to see them proven wrong.
As for the co-op I don't know if I will ever be able to do it, I'm a loner so I really don't know anyone who plays mass effect

On one hand, I like the idea of seeing the war from different fronts and playing with friends. On the other hand, I don't like how it affects the singleplayer mode. I think they should be completely seperate.
Also "galactic rediness level" conerns me. Is this going to be like Fable 3, where we can only play up until a certain point like an invisible timer?
It seems interesting but I'm concernec about it's implementations.
