[*]Everything you do in the singleplayer campaign will earn you in-game currency called “War Assets”. War Assets allow you to purchase things such as allies, friendly fleets, or even a facility such as a radar station.
[*]Successfully completing various side-missions, larger plot points, and destroying your enemies will net you the War Assets needed to purchase the upgrades.
[*]“The more you play and build up your multiplayer characters to surive increasingly tough odds, the more power and influence your single-player Shepard will wield by the time the endgame comes based on the amount of War Assets earned.”

So what are SP only player gonna do with the War Assets, is it only usable in the MP or there is things we can do In the SP , Since your Multiplayer Characters will increase power and influence for your Single Player, what if I just play as a Single Player, is it gonna affect my influence and power in the game. Or will I have to do MP just so that My SP Shepard is good enough to continue the story.

These are the fears of the anti-MP coming true.

"While you’re going through a variety of locations in singleplayer, you’ll see first-hand how the war has hit different colonies. Galaxy at War mode follows suit, allowing your individual character and team to take up arms to defend these various locations. Your squad is under the command of the Alliance Navy officer Admiral Hackett, making his return from each game. Fighting in each various area will and successfully defending it will “win for interstellar freedom”."

So are these areas locked from Single Players?, are these areas none accessible by Single Players, and is only enjoyable by Multiplayers.

[*]| Maybe one can do it alone.

So....what then? You saying you'd prefer the co-op stuff to just recycle maps from single player?

Honestly, that's ridiculous. They've said themselves it will affect your success in the game. What is more likely, do you think? Hmmm? That all that stuff you do in MP will simply lead to SP points or that SOME content of SOME kind will present itself in SP as a result of MP. Seriously, you're the one who's choosing believe the least logical possibility. Don't ask me why, but you are. Stop kidding yourself.

Logic demands low risk.  Adding yet more branching into the SP based on an MP input is higher risk.  Points affecting a total is lower risk and also allows other revenue streams to contribute to the same concept (think mobile Galaxy at War enabled game or something on Facebook).

The "Galaxy At War" system worries me. I really don't want the multiplayer impacting my single player experience in any way.

...but that doesn't necessarily take away from the fact that it is a developer attempting something it never has before and throwing a massive game changer into a sequel to a beloved single player experience.

If you mean MP in general, that ain't true.  Bioware has done it a few times in the past.  Their very first release was a mech combat game with multiple MP modes, in fact.

We also have Neverwinter Nights, which was designed primarily as a multiplayer experience.

And BG. Then there is the fact Mythic is around. I dont know what the crossover is but Mythic knows a bit about multiplayer.

And then for everything we know this is not anything more then "here is a mission group up and beat it" multiplayer. As far as multiplayer goes that is at the bottom of hard things to do.
Its no WoW. Its no Counter Strike.
The best thing so far in this thread is how there are those that want to harp on "it affects single player" as the word of god but in that same post from the same person it being optional and a alternative are just lies or "PR speak".

Even tho we know nothing about how this will go. Best to save the rage untill it is clear what these statements actually mean for the game.

but you see how can one not be overly dramatic, especially when Bioware officially stated that DLC was being developed prior to the revelation of the MP Co-op addition.
And now that its revealed, what were those DLC they were developing if SP was already at its prime and being polished. Are we going to be seeing more and more MP dlc's and will SP be done and over when the campaigns are over, because now they got something they can expand on. <---the MP

There will undoubtedly be MP dlc.  There will be SP dlc.  I'm 70/30 that the first dlc will be SP since MP is new and Bioware probably has a very good idea of how SP dlc will be bought based on sales of dlc in ME1, ME2, DA, and DA2 so the SP dlc would be the lower risk option.

"Mass Effect 3 multiplayer has been planned since the original Mass Effect " Apparently Multiplayer Co-op were planned since the first Mass Effect, so its not new so the fear that all new DLC will be Mp is still quite valid

I understand your fear but I just don't see "all", and I really don't see most.  I might be wrong.  I guess I'll leave it at that.

I think it's a good addition to the game, and to those who don't like it, Bioware said it was optional and it would not affect to single player campain if you don't take part in the multiplayer.

Unless it's on a separate disk labeled "multiplaye"r, or a seperate dlc I don't have to instal, it's not optional enough.

I said from day one that I would not buy ME3 if they added multiplayer.

Thank you Bioware, you have managed to save me $60 now and potentially hundreds in the future. Kudos!

For those wondering, you’ll also be able to choose your gender when choosing any class.

Does this mean...MALE ASARI?!?!

It doesn't affect indeed. Well, it can impact singleplayer but there's a paragraph saying that basically as long as you do all the quests you won't -need- to do multiplayer in order to increase Shepard's influence in end game. So you can still enjoy your singleplayer experience, and if it's so dear to you (which it is to me!) you -are- going to do all the missions.

You can quote the PR faq but come on. It was put out to deflect anger about the multiplayer.

They can't just lie their asses off and not care about backlash.

Really? DA2 springs to mind, they didn't give a damn about the backlash to that. I'll take the same approach to DA3 and ME3, that means waiting until detailed reviews are in with solid positive ratings. My days of buying BW product on the day of release are over.

And i think that is the essence of what people worry about. Not getting that neat experience MP offer in SP.

Personally i dont care atm, i just want to know if ME3 will require Origin. <_<

I hope it's more than just Cerberus troops we're facing. Husks make for perfect horde fodder.

Plus, with them, we won't have to worry about an otherwise inevitable zombie DLC...

I get the concerns over MP content eating disc space and all that, but this really sounds like nothing so much as a child complaining that the vegetables just touched the meat, and they don't want to eat anymore.
