So yes, I better not see an achievement for "completing [my] first co-op mission." Not in Mass Effect 3. Dead Space 2 had a full-fledged mutliplayer mode with zero achievements associated with it. ME3 should follow suit.

I actually do think that's the way it should be, but I also don't personally care about achievements in general. If I can get them via doing stuff I'd probably do anyway, great.  Otherwise, whatever.

I can understand the argument but I *really* don't want to see multiplayer achievements anywhere near ME3. We should still be able to max out all achievements through the singleplayer campaign alone. I have all achievements for both ME1 and ME2 and I definitely intend to do the same with ME3; if online multiplayer is required for even one of them, I would be disappointed.

Like I said, Dead Space 2 did it best. Even though it did have a multiplayer mode, all of its 58 achievements are specific to the singeplayer, which is what ME3 should do.

The "Galaxy At War" system worries me. I really don't want the multiplayer impacting my single player experience in any way.

It doesn't.

Mass Effect 3: Galaxy at War

As a bonus to the campaign, BioWare is introducing the Mass Effect 3: Galaxy at War system, a new way for players to manage and experience the galactic war from multiple fronts, including a new 4-player co-op mode.
The key to saving the galaxy is the “Galactic Readiness” level, measured by Commander Shepard’s ability to apply every possible asset – people, weapons, resources, armies, fleets – in the final battle against
the Reapers. Players can impact their game’s Galactic Readiness level in multiple ways via the Mass Effect 3: Galaxy at War system, including multiplayer.

It Does.

The quote " Players can impact their game’s Galactic Readiness level in multiple ways via the Mass Effect 3: Galaxy at War system, including multiplayer" is the bit people selectively ignore Image IPB

lol true.

But still this needs to happen to Bioware nonetheless
Agreed, especially as it's an extremely annoying advert on TV, but I'm not sure even an M1A2 would do any good now.

The 'bean counters' think they've seen a way of making ME3 attractive to the 'spotty brigade', and I think they've made a severe miscalculation.
The tank would just be for effect(MASS effect? xP), maybe show Bioware the true might of their fans.

And you're right, just because they added some flashy feature doesnt mean it;ll increase sales or anything. :/

TOTALLY AGREE.

EDIT: If Bioware confirm that to be the case, and that it will remain the case for all ME3 DLC, then I'd re-order (subject to the " Players can impact their game’s Galactic Readiness level in multiple ways via the Mass Effect 3: Galaxy at War system, including multiplayer" being addressed).

Otherwise ME3 is dead and buried as far as I'm concerned.

And when you actually got what you paid for lol

I remember when video gaming was nothing more than "insert quarter to continue" (well, and the Odyssey 1, which was a glorified pong machine whose solution to improving graphics was to tape a plastic overlay to your TV).  If anything, with microtransactions, those are the old days we are returning to.

I don't understand the ''Just wait till you have the game, before judging''. The damage at that point is already done, you've helped finance rubbish.

I think it's more a case of people trying to say "It doesn't effect your SP game in such a way that you're forced to play co-op", rather than them refusing to acknowledge the fact that it can have an effect on the SP.

I'm not old enough to have experienced the arcade days, but what do you mean those are the days we're returning to?

Will we have to pay a quarter just to start up our consoles? (:LI

I think people's argument is "Just wait until the game comes out, before judging". That way you see reviews from gaming websites, comments from people on BSN, watch videos on YouTube, etc...

If one has not bought the game and is waiting for the reviews, he/she hasn't financed diddlysquat. Never mind the fact that BIoWare put up the capital to fund the development of the game, not us.

Well, reviews have hardly ever been accurate for me personally and Witcher 2 is one of the most recent examples of games, that people say to be great, while being total rubbish in my opinion. Image IPB I guess I just stick to buying games, that I am excited about.

Reviews/ you tube video's of people who played MP and also playing MP yourself, then a judgement can be made

Except that, in ALL other shooters, if you don't start on the MP from day one (or preferably sooner if you've got early access from a previous 'limited edition' version), you just end up as canon fodder for those who have been playing from the first possible opportunity and upgraded their weapons. Very difficult to catch up.

I have to wonder how successful that strategy is overall.  Unless your instincts are supernaturally good, you have to have run into disappointments more than a few times.

So wait is it a good thing or a bad thing now to cancel a preorder over the addition of multiplayer?  I mean, reading the reviews after you've already bought the game is kinda pontless...:innocent:

Some reviews can be out the same day the game comes out or even before.

I suggest you keep your pre order because if you dont like the game from the reviews you can still return it if its unopened. =]

(for most places I know of anyways...)

You're pretty much correct. However, one actually needs to be interested in MP to worry about playing catch up. Besides, MP in ME3 is a cooperative effort, so the fear of getting your **** wrecked gets axed right out the gate.

I realize I could be thinking about this in entirely the wrong way, but that's how I see it.

Systems Alliance Prime Minister Amul Shastri conducted a surprise, hour long visit with rank and file staff at the Alliance Embassy, today. The visit was meant to show the Prime Minister’s gratitude for the embassy staff’s hard work over the past few years, especially as the Alliance has faced greater diplomatic obligations associated with its new role in the galaxy. The Prime Minister reportedly made a small, off camera speech, and then shook hands with, talked to, and posed for photographs with several embassy employees. Most employees seemed thrilled with the visit, with one saying, “It was a great morale boost. We’ve been working so hard here. It’s nice to know we’re appreciated.”

That isn't a problem in co-op though, as if you don't start on day 1, you just might not be at as high of a level. And since you can play by yourself, you can level up on your own before playing with others.

I personally use IGN, Metacritic, and GameRankings, and i've never yet been let down. I know some people hate IGN, but I actually think they are pretty fair and they do a pretty good analysis of the big titles. The other two sites are averages of all main reviews, which is a very good indication of the quality of the game.

You can also always listen to people on BSN; they will definitely be some of the most critical people on the internet regarding ME3.

Oh I intend to.  For one more day, at least.  I'm curious to see how this...decision...gets justified in th Pulse episode.  Afterwords, I make no promises.  But they've got an uphill battle to convince me .

That's true there are failures now and then, but they're usually just mild disappointments like Dawn of War 2. Age of Conan is probably my largest disappointment, but otherwise I've been quite succesful.
