The MP is separate and has nothing to with Shepard. One of the faqs even state that ME1 & 2 save data have no impact whatsoever.

I am amazed on how fast people have drank the Kool-Aid.
I'd say it's more like people who positivley hated the mp idea are still going to be disappointed that it appears they have pulled off a very palatable compromise that should sounds like it will keep most people happy.
We will see how happy it keeps you when it ruins the Single player.
In ME1, Bioware Edmonton worked on SP.
In ME2, Bioware Edmonton worked on SP.
In ME3, Bioware Edmonton is working on SP.
Bioware Montreal is a new element, and they will work on the co-op side of it.
Same amount of effort is going into ME3 as before, except... more.

Couple of questions if anyone's looking
First: for XBox, would both my spouse and I have to register respective copies of the game to play, or is our one copy enough? (or will it be downloaded/purchased separately from the main game?)
Second, will Galaxy at War be part of the Collecter's Edition?
Galaxy at War is part of all editions

Still up for debate. It is also likely that the resources required for mp was never going to be used by bioware unless EA told them to do it.Dionkey wrote...
1) This will mean fewer resources are used on the singleplayer campaign. Yes, I know that the Montreal studio is making the component, but those people could have been used to improve the singleplayer experience, never mind the fact that some of the people working there were from the original team.
2) Getting the good ending is going to require you to have a high "Galatic Readiness" score, which is stupid in itself and arcady for a game that takes itself in a more serious/cinematic tone. This also means that people who play co-op are going to have it easier, thus making it tougher on people who play singleplayer strictly. This just negatively affects it and is stupidity.
Whatever, you guys can defend it to the end, I'm just dropping my two cents.
This was mentioned in the FAQ. You can get a full SP experience without MP. The MP is purely optional.

Depending on how this is implemented, this could potential screw over explorers. Many people on BSN try to achieve the awful endings only after finishing a few good play throughs. Will a completed co-op game prevent us from ever having a bad playthrough?

I am split. First its there is no impact on the single player campaign but then the Galaxy at War mode allows you to raise the "Galactic readiness level" which impacts the single player campaign?
You're conflating two different contexts: effect of developing MP on SP and the gameplay effects of the MP mode on the SP mode.
I was merely confused b4, now im very confused.

So, Co-Op is interweaved with SP? I don't exactly understand how that will work.
Do co-op, readiness meter goes up.
Do planet scanning or some other sh!te thing they throw in to give SP players a chance, and the readiness meter goes up.

What I said is that IF the single-player campaign has the same amount of time as ME2 did, THEN I'm fine with that. Maybe you missed the whole IF/THEN construction there. If the single-player campaign gets short shrift, then I will not be a happy camper. See that? There's another IF/THEN!
That being said, I also don't view co-op as the end of the world. There are plenty of games where multiplayer has enhanced my gaming experience like Portal 2 in which the co-op is, in my opinion, innovative and complements the main story. The single-player campaign was also strong. Meanwhile, you can go be irrational and cry in the corner and bemoan your fate or whatever it is you're doing in here.
Hey, believe what you want.
You should not be a happy camper now.
Sorry? Hmm, you know...maybe one day I'll let myself be brainwashed and swayed by the opinions of others who think I should feel exactly the way they do - right after I get myself an all-expenses-paid lobotomy. In the meantime, since I'm not an idiot who jumps to baselsss conclusions based on my personal biases, I'll continue to think for myself and wait to see exactly what the game is like based on reviews close to/after launch.
I also like multiplayer in general and have quite a few games with multi-player despite my propensity for playing mostly single--player games, so I don't necessarily view multi-player as some great evil.

Or on your own, for that matter.
Not know thing one about multi-player, this is my main question as well. The only person I could play with is my husband (easiest to coodinate schedules), so I won't have player 3 or 4. Can I still play, or am I SOL?
I'd like to know this too. Then I can decide to be either tentatively excited or totally meh.

What are you trying to say?
Is it that Bioware can still make someone cry while adding in mp to there SP?
If not then is the addition of MP after the SP was basically finished is what is making you cry?

So is the equally weak assumption that this will work without ruining the game.
Again, I need to know exactlu how this affects single player in action, not just because some PR faq from the company was rushed out to quell insurrection....

But I was wrong. This MP sounds excellent now. An entire team devoted to making a MP game in addition to a SP game? Hell yeah.

I imagine it will be the same as one Shepard playthrough not affecting another. We could get GR boosts to future Shepard playthroughs, though.

The former, that the story can still cause an emotional response such that the SP was not "ruined".1136342t54 wrote...
