........*sigh*

They've reduced the Reapers to something that can be beat by winning in a multiplayer mode. I can't believe this. They would waste two games hyping the Reapers' return just so they would be able to be beat with no effort!

They've done more than that. Bioware has taken the Mass Effect series (a character-driven story and narrative, individuality-based and something that shines on its own for simply having one of the greatest campaigns), turned it on its side, and sliced its throat. Then they have the audacity to come out and say "Hey we know you don't like it but we don't care. We want money."

Then to top it all off, anyone who is pro-multiplayer feels the need to flame and dismiss the anti-multiplayer Mass Effect fans as narrow-minded and whatever other negative word and/or characteristic that can be thought of. Brilliant.

Did you READ that OP?

If that stuff is implimented well, I am going to play the sh*t out of it.

Okay so heres how i think it stands
Confirmed playable races: Asari, Turians, Krogans
Probable playable races: Human, Drells, Quarians, Salarians, Maybe Batarian
Less likely to be playable races: Geth, Hanar, Volus, Vorcha, etc

If there's no Hanar, pre-order cancelled. Hear that BioWare?! *rage*

Oh, silly! :P You can't abandon Kaidan, not even for no Hanar rage.

I just have three points to make...

1. What is the point of wasting resources to implement a feature a very small number of people will actually use?

2. What is the point of wasting resources to implement a multiplayer feature in a single player narrative driven game?

(Don't worry Chris, I already know it was an EA mandate so they can push the Online Pass, otherwise known as Used Game DRM.)

3. So...would a couple of specific people like to tell me how I don't know what I'm talking about again?

1. Money.
2. Money.

Ok seriously, Darkeus if you hate BioWare so much now just because they made an optional festure that you don't like, why are you still posting here? If you aren't going to buy the bloody game, then why not find something better to do with your time? I'm certainly sick of your negativity, but I can't speak for everyone else.

And???

I am not so sure it is as optional as they say and I am concerned because I am a fan of BioWare and I am seeing a bad thing here.  As is my right.

So who cares what you are sick of??

Whad? Has the defintion of optional changed in the past ten minutes. Why wasn't I informed about this?

Didn't say it changed.  Just saying that I have a feeling it will be needed to get the best playthroug, no matter what the faq says.  The OP is a rushed out post to quell anger.  I need to see WAY more to be sure this is not ruining a great game.

My wife just commented to me that "Galactic Readiness" sounds like something out of the Department of Homeland Security.

Well the Galaxy at war thing is reminding me of Tom Clancy's End War Theatre of War.

So thats why it sounded familiar ^_^

Yer... like, it'll make you cry when the ending sucks because you didn't play co-op.

Why do people post without reading the FAQ?

I could ask you the same question.

The methods by which a player can succeed without co-op have yet to be defined, but if past games are any indication then it's going to mean either exploring 100 copy-pasted warehouses or scanning 100 planets for minerals.

GaW is going to imbalance the game, no two ways about it.

Now I see you haven't even played attention to ME3 info. In ME2 many N7 missions on uncharted worlds could be avoided to complete the game you just scanned crap. In ME3 there is no scanning nor a lot of UNC or N7 missions.
The decisions in the past game and actions in ME3 heavily affect the game. Playing the MP isn't necessary and the FAQ never stated how much it affects the game.

Read the FAQ and brush up on ME3 knowledge. Then come back to the thread.

I never said you had to do N7 missions in ME2, and I already knew everything else you just posted. Unfortunately I'm still missing the bit where I'm wrong and/or should give a rats ass wtf you think I should do.

Then why claim you would have to do 2 things in ME3 to win when you just stated you know it isn't true? Its starting to seem like you are intentionally lying .

Knew it.

Bet it plays just like SWTOR, with the dice rolling dialogue system. I will never play it, but it should be probably a great CRPG roleplaying experience. No more player and henchmen model.

And it kind of makes sense. I mean, pretty much your whole squad can be dead from ME2 so the role of the characters in the story has to be optional anyway. They'll still have story, of course, but it won't be central to the storyline, except for the VS and Liara.

Huh?  The co-op probably has very little dialog.  There may be some cut-scenes...if it follows a story narrative at all.  I'm seeing more like a bunch of different maps and you form a group and go.

That is where your opinion and mine differ.  I think Multiplayer ruins games and has a history of doing so.

Multiplayer traditionally does not look good for traditionally single player games.

You can believe what you want, just don't try to foist your opinion on me and tell me what to think or how I should feel. And while we're at it, don't try to frame your opinions and feelings about multiplayer as some sort of incontrovertible fact or proof that the game's single-player experience will be deficient. I certainly don't claim that every game benefits from multiplayer or that it's always done well - just that it can add to the experience when it is done well.

That is a lot of "if" there.

Proof usually shows multiplayer takes away from single player.  But believe what you want as well.

And the problem with that is? I'm not the one who's trying to make out as if my opinions are proof of the game's future success/failure/deficiencies. There are currently no "facts" like the number of total projected single-player hours yet or much of anything concrete right now other than co-op being confirmed.

Hmm interesting. You say you're a fan, yet you automatically assume that BW screwed up the game without knowing anything about the quality of the single player.

The biggest problem I have with this is that horrible sounding Galactic Readiness level crap.  So essentially all our choices boil down to a bar and how far filled up it is?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...

I have now moved from concerned, to worried, to panic mode.

Christ's sake...it's OPTIONAL.

And completely UNNECESSARY. Honestly, I want someone to explain to me why coop play is important to the series?
If you're playing for mindless combat you're already playing the wrong game.

I've got to admit this sounds impressive. Considering it's being done by another studio it might be really big. I'm just curious as to whether or not we can customize our characters face, and gender. Being able to play as a fully customizable turian or asari would be awesome, especially if there's the same level progression and class/powers as in single player, or more. I don't see why people are so bummed out about this. Quite frankly this makes me more excited, and the wait for ME3 much harder.

Anyways, time to pre order the CE for the 360 now :D

So long as you pull something of at least Brotherhood's caliber I'll be fine. But please don't make parts of Galaxy at War platform exclusives (i.e., if you do a iOS app, do an Android/Blackberry too for those of us who refuse to have Apple products in our houses) so everyone can have the complete experience.

Hence why I said "If EA wouldn't have impregnated this series with their greed". Those same resources could have been taken out and invested in ME3.

So. What.  That doesn't mean they WOULD HAVE been.  How hard is this to grasp?

So....this is how it ends.

I think I'm going to cry. Seriously.

We've gotten to the point where our ability to win is measured by a "readiness level" and you could completely screw up in the past 2 games and make up for it by playing some STUPID multiplayer mode.

Unbelievable.

For **** sake....do you even READ?

"It is important to note that the system is entirely optional and just
another way players can have control over your game experience – it is
still possible to achieve the optimal, complete ending of the game in
Mass Effect 3 through single-player alone."
