I played on a NWN persistent world for upwards of 2 years.  So yeah, pretty funny to me.  Especially the part about D&D not being a valid comparison.  Good stuff.

If you were actually literate, you would have read that I said pen and paper RPGs were more compable to MMOs than single player RPGs.

And if you weren't so simple you would realize the logical falicy of "NWN was a mostly single player game" and the fact that it lived on as a multiplayer game for years and had far more multiplayer content as a result of that.  L2logic.

Mouse vs. game pad?

That never goes well.

The only thing I really hope isn't going to come into play here is an iOS game, which since we already know one is under development means I won't be holding my breath.

I have no interest in smartphones so that's one optional component I'd readily skip. Ah well.

Pen and paper RPGs are the inseration of all video game rpgs. Are you forgeting a Game called Never winter nights that is D&D in electronic form made by this very company?

And the main part of that was single player.

So what? Single player rpgs are still based on D&D.You can play BG1 and 2 as a sp game and it hasoptional mp and the game is cut from the stone of D&D. Also, ME3 has MP now, so the single player point is mute.

What if I don’t like multiplayer – will my experience be negatively impacted?
Mass Effect 3 is a complete, standalone game that will deliver a satisfying story experience, even if you choose not to try multiplayer. The Mass Effect 3: Galaxy at War system and all of the individual components are meant to complement that amazing game and can be enjoyed on their own or as part of the Galaxy at War experience.

Correct me if I am wrong, but it sounds like you can do any component of the GaW thing and have it effect the SP game. In other words, if I don't care for MP, I can still do all the other stuff?

Oh Jesus Christ...

I see people responding to this post, thought no one is offering an explanation as for why MP would not in some way diminish the SP campaign. I'm not saying it will, jsut playing devil's advocate, because intuitively it would amke sense for this to be the case.

didymos has been doing so for hours now.

Does half the forum have him on ignore or something? Is everyone allergic to useful information today? :wizard:

I jumped on to the most recent thread page and saw two responses to the post within a couple posts, assumedly that means it was being responded to with a great deal of frequency, I apologize but I have neither the time of inclination to search back through the pages.

The proper integration of a campaign and multiplayer component.

You're opinion on this voids any weight you have in the argument. You must really hate fun.

Well MP games aren't fun. Neither are Ass's Creed games. If that's your definition of fun, you can have it.

 We both know that won't happen given how much M$ hates Sony and vice versa I can't see them doing it.

360 and PC though. And I could see PS3 and PC since EA/valve did that with Portal 2 co op.

No, I don't want coop in the last part of a Single Player Trilogy. You want coop? Go play a game that is coop. I like my single player games to be single player games. There are plenty of mindless combat games out there. The strength of Bioware game have always been their stories and npc's. The reason Baldur's Gate and NWN coop was successful were because they didn't affect the single player game at all.  If bioware is so hard up to make a coop game, fine. Call it ME4 and do the best job possible in making a complete coop game. But leave it out of my single player game.

So because your toy has a new feature you don't like you want to take that feature away from others. Gotcha.

Yes absolutely that IS my entire point. Go play coop somewhere else!:D

Interesting thing and totally off topic: if you go to BioWare's Twitter page at 1020x1280 resolution the background says DragonA: Mark of the Ass

The first Ass's Creed game was so absolutely terrible that I haven't touched any of the others. I have absolutely no idea what point you are trying to make.

Oh, even better: you disqualify a game from being an example of one that has a good SP campaign and that also has a MP component, and you have almost no knowledge of it all.  Fantastic.

Baldur's Gate co-op, quite literally, involved adding another player to your game world. I'd say that's a perfect example of affecting the single player game.

After reading what coop will be like, I guess it doesn't sound so bad. I hope it doesn't end up being like every other coop experience though. Playing other races sounds interesting.

Hmmm...I was a little hesistant at first but DAMN BioWare, you good! I'm loving the fact that the multiplayer can affect the single player campaign, plus creating a custom character even as a different race.......you have me intrigued. Damnit, March is too far away....

Do you honestly think most people are going to pick up the third game of a science-fiction RPG trilogy and say "Hmm, I think I'll start with this one?"

I'd like you to take a look at the number of people who bought Gears of War 3. Then Halo 3. Then GTA IV. Then MW2. After that, look at the public facination with games like Elder Scrolls, Battle Field 3, and MW3, and predict a pattern.

So your argument is dumb the game down for casual players? No thank you.

Adding MP =/= dumbing down.

Lowering difficulty settings, making linear levels, adding deathstreaks = dumbing down.

I still don't like having a Co-op/multi-player system in ME3. Take a look at how Fable 2 and Fable 3 had game breaking bugs, game immersion broken, storyline affected. Again not a fan of this being implemented especially if you include achievements for this Co-op that affects the 1000 max points rating for the game itself. Those of us who like the single player campaign can't earn those online achievements unless we find someone willing to join us in an online campaign and not many people who enjoy the single player game only have any friends who play Co-op/multiplayer games like what you are implementing. So how do you propose that we who like to get the 1000 achievement points for the single player game get those for the multiplayer if we don't like it or can't get people to help us unlock said achievement?

Yeah... you can be sure I'm not happy.

I didn't disqualify it. I never brought it up. I've never played it, have no interest in playing it. Why would I talk about it?
