Hey, who knows? Bioware could still remove it and devote the rest of the resources to improving SP.
Don't think that will happen buddy, sorry to say.

So how much space will this "optional" content be wasting on the game disc, and will any single player content have to cut to make room for this crap??

What I expect is for the story to suck really bad and have no closure, the gameplay to be quite good, the dialogue wheel to be implemented incompetently yet again, previous decisions to make virtually no impact on anything again, and Garrus to misinterpret my friendliness as an invitation to butt**** me. And, yes, probably some mind-numbing BS padding.
But like I said, I still have some hope.

Dude, if I expected that out of a game, I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. Why even bother?

I'm still not happy about this.
This should have been a stand alone downloadable game and not have been attached to Mass effect 3 proper. I'm a completionist and despite the fact that I have a choice of not playing this, I will feel forced to since I want to play all aspects of a game that I paid $60 for. A lot of gamers are like me in this regard so a lot of people will essentially be forced to play this just to get the most out of the game.

It's a game, Bioware's game.

Any particular reason you keep deliberately quoting me? 'Cause I'd really rather you'd knock it the hell off. Thanks a bunch.

Right. 'Cause two separate disc and box printings are really quite practical. Oh, wait: make that four. Gotta have two different editons of the CE (which are only practical because they charge significantly more for them). At best, you can hope it's just in DLC form. Sorry, but economic realities aren't on your side here.

And it helps Microsoft becasue people will be mroe tempted to get Xbox Live in order to access the extra content, so everyone wins!

Sure, but the onus is on them to convince me to buy their game. "Whining" is also called voicing your opinion as a consumer. If they really listen like they claim (which they don't, or they wouln't have included it in the first place) they'll be taking the negative reaction into account.
The fact that their Twitter says :"There will be a multiplayer component for ME3. Full details soon, so wait until then before making your decision. We think you'll like it!" tells me they knew it was going to ****** people off, but they did it anyway, for the cash and for the dudebros who look for that bullet point.
