There's a correlation around here between trolling and not having registered games. I think people make too much of it, but I understand why.

So imagine a Co-Op mission with a massive, sprawling levels like the original Deus Ex or even something approaching Far Cry's massive sandbox with multiple ways to complete objectives. Infiltration and Techie oriented characters may have some unique ways to bypass checkpoints, Biotics could interact with the environment, moving heavy boxes and obstacles out of the way, etc etc.
If we had something like that, I'd be really happy and probably play more for multiplayer than single player.
Of course, another possibility is that we get Bioshock 2 all over again.

I'm near certain that this 'Lard' person is some sort of troll:
-Randomly comes out of the woodwork to post on one thread and one thread only
-No registered games
-Continual barrage of snide one liners
-Total failure to address opposing points
Taken together, these provide strong evidence for the conclusion that 'Lard' is a troll, and should not be replied to

The simple fact of the matter is that MP adds absolutely nothing to the game, and is only being done to sell to casual gamers and dudebro shooter lovers. Oh - and to sell us more DLC maps.
There is no concrete benefit to adding MP to the game, and the points raised about ME being a personal game both here and by IGN are completely valid.
Get off your high horse and remove your head from your anus.
Now I can play as a variety of different species while co-oping with members of the BSN. Thats pretty guddamn fantastically concrete and beneficial to me.

Just one question, what about the different decisions each player has made in the previous games? How would these technically collide in multiplayer? Or is the influence just omnidirectional and single player has no affect on multi player just vice versa?
The OP said our ME1 and ME2 saves don't influence the co-op.
Thanks.
But then that only raises my question as to why not? I mean ME has always been about YOUR personal input into shaping the galaxy. Your decisions making an impact on the grand scheme of things. So yeah why not? Because that'd actually be pretty cool. Also I don't see how you can't mention the Rachni in the multiplayer if it's purpose is to make the single player more fulfilling by providing you with more assets in your galactic fight. I mean how would they not mention something like the Quarian, Geth war which you could have supported or frowned upon. Unless that's just there to soothe Shepards conscience and make him feel good about saying the right thing rather than doing it. I guess I'll just have to wait for future details and clarifications if not, then the game itself.
How do you know the Rachni won't be there just because you killed the queen?

Only thing I really want to know at this point is if it can be used in a off-line co-op or is it strictly online multiplayer. Cause it sounds nice, but I don't know if I want to have to upgrade to gold membership just to use it.

ME3 is still a very personal game, as the co-op will only have an effect if you choose to partake in it. A fact you, and the esteemed writers at IGN seem to overlook.
Also, the benefit of MP is that people want it. The exact same benefit ME has itself.
You are shooting oh-fer. Practice, man, practice.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with BioWare going ahead and optimizing for a smaller squad. They're quite literally looking to to do in the same way as 'Lair of the Shadow Broker'. It allows, as they've said, for more interesting interplay and much more intimate character development.
I expect nothing less from BSN though.
Lucky you if all your favourite characters are on the squad. You can get 'more interesting interplay and much more intimate character development ' with the characters you really like and care about.
I'm happy for you, really. Alas, most of my favourites are confirmed cameos so I will get 'more interesting interplay and much more intimate character development' with squaddies I couldn't care less about. And it would be kind of you to offer me sympathies.
If there was a way to form the smaller squad according to your own taste, I wouldn't mind the situation either

It's something like this that really shows. If someone calls me a troll, what would I do? Write a polite, carefully worded response as to why I believe am not a troll, and are just opinionated. But then you had to go for some personal insults. I'm not stopping you - by all means continue, this is very amusing to read.

Systems Alliance Prime Minister Amul Shastri conducted a surprise, hour long visit with rank and file staff at the Alliance Embassy, today. The visit was meant to show the Prime Minister’s gratitude for the embassy staff’s hard work over the past few years, especially as the Alliance has faced greater diplomatic obligations associated with its new role in the galaxy. The Prime Minister reportedly made a small, off camera speech, and then shook hands with, talked to, and posed for photographs with several embassy employees. Most employees seemed thrilled with the visit, with one saying, “It was a great morale boost. We’ve been working so hard here. It’s nice to know we’re appreciated.”

Does anyone else feel like this is an immersion breaker?
I mean Mass Effect so far has all been about forming a dynamic, yet personal relationship between the player and the universe through the tool that is Commander Shepard. Now this relationship and the temperamental fabric of immersion has been ripped apart for a social cause.
Mass Effect isn't about being social dagnamit! It's about escapism from the trappings of reality; real relationships, real issues, real people. I can't imagine why Bioware would spend so much time crafting and expounding this kind of imaginative inspiring/facilitating world just to violate it like this. As the reader and the novel form a single entity, in this game the player and the cybertext have been given time to form their own connection, which imo should be treated with more sanctity and respect.
I feel like I'm in a damn polygamous relationship now!
The worst thing is that we can't even ignore the insidious thing and class it as something distinct because it actually impacts upon the single player playthrough, forced inevasibly into the SP formula. That above all is what really irritates me; particularly as a completionist.

Also;
Systems Alliance Prime Minister Amul Shastri arrived on the Citadel today, beginning a planned, week-long visit to the station. The Prime Minister was greeted as he arrived by a small crowd of onlookers, who watched as he was whisked away by C-Sec and his MoJ bodyguards to visit with the Citadel Council. Most of the Prime Minister’s visit will be spent at personal meetings with individual Council members, as well as in talks with representatives from throughout Citadel Space. It is expected that trade and defense concerns will be high on the Prime Minister’s agenda, though he will not spend all of his time working: This evening, he is scheduled to attend a showing of the salarian play Saramel[/i], followed by a reception at a private diplomatic residence on the Presidium.

Now, why couldn't you guys just save the multiplayer portion for a spin-off series instead of shoe-horning it into the final chapter of the Shepard trilogy? Why couldn't it just begin and end with his/her story, without shoving a bloody Galactic Readiness meter in our faces telling us "the galaxy isn't as ready as it could be commander Shepard, sir, maybe you should play some co-op multiplayer"? I'm sorry, but that's bull****.
You guys must know by now that many, many CRPG fans (your fans!) are completionists; that one of the things we've enjoyed so much about your games is stuff like different plot outcomes and story endings based on our decisions, and that that is what makes us re-visit and re-play those games for years after their release... What you're doing now is telling us "hey, you can experience the "full" story in singleplayer, but if you want to experience everything we put in the SP campaign, you're gonna have to play multiplayer as well" Lame! And that is NOT what "optional" means!
Seriously, what happened to you guys after DA:O Awakening? DA2 was horrible, ToR is just not looking good (I'm in the BETA -- awesome cinematics, but the actual gameplay, story and NPC's do not draw me in in any way whatsoever; they just feel like soulless, two-dimensional cardboard cutouts compared to KotOR, which I loved) and I'm worried about the incredible amount of resources you guys poured into that one... And now this. I was really, really hoping that *this* Mass Effect trilogy, at least, would be safe from this kind of crap. Majorly disappointed.
