So this is what we experiance a delay for? I thought a more impressive campaign would be the important place to put resources - now i see. Have Bioware proven they dont place the core experiance as the utmost priority? Rather cash in on a back-of-the-box bullet point to ensue mass appeal? I also think if this is something as they claim 'always wanted to do' then they would have done it to begin with. Lets hope the main ME3 campaign is not a let down and doesnt show any areas of dissapointment - or this will compound what i consider a lame afterthought This really should be standalone, or introduced after the core trilogy. If its awesome i will check it out, but can anyone point to a series that added this after the first game to amazing effect? Metroid? Dead Space? Metal Gear? The list goes on.

Bah ... one more "feature" that I don't care about announce as a big new thing. I hope the next "feature" is something I'm going to look forward to.

Gratz to those that will look forward to it ...

And it still will impact single player content, these things always do. And the weird thing is me buying ME3 would impact Biowares perception of the "success" of them including it in the to main game (aka release). I wish they would have released it as a DLC so I don't need to buy it.
Thing is even if part of the budget didn't impact the single player budget (I don't believe that so) it still need to pay itself by increased sales. Meaning that they would need to sell more units to make i profitable and a lot more to make it a commercial success. That is what it does at least.

It is good for those that enjoy "co-op" game play. For me it doesn't do any thing in regards to ME3 that is not why I buy and enjoyed this game.

As to it not impacting the single player campaign, it will .. being an alternative path means also that it makes it easier to obtain the top readiness level if you play co-op. Most of the FAQs sound more like marketing to me trying to sooth those that don';t like / wanted that feature. As said earlier it is good for those that enjoy this type of game mechanics, bad for those that don't as it adds nothing for them to it.

How can you say that the development of a multiplayer component doesn't at all diminish the quality and scope of the single player? Even with a different team, there are a lot of resources that went into making the multiplayer. Resources that could have been used making the single player experience longer/better.

I am upset by this.

Another irrational person... They had 2 separate teams. They know better than you what they needed to acomplish their goal of making the best Single player expirence they had in mind. The game was finished single player wise a year ago. Just cause YOU have no knowledge of running a team/ being part of one doesnt mean you know better than Bioware. They said it didn't so trust them or dont. They used what they needed ot get the job done and formed a new team to separately handle Co-Op and were overlooked by Casey himself. What are you whining about? You havent played the full game and you think by them forming a separate team that wasnt needed to complete single player somehow hurt them? What?! You do know they work for EA right? EA is global and one of the biggest companies in the world. EA wants all their franchises to do their best and if EA needed to pump more money into ME3, they have billions at their disposal. Not that they'd put a billion into 1 game, but your logic is flawed. At least have an arguement that makes sense...

Ok, let me start by saying that I haven't read the hole thread yet (made it till page 22) so excuse me if this has been already mentioned.

At first I was negative about having MP in the last game of the series. Today's news though made me want to give it a chance. So I will if the answer to the following question is NO.

Will we have to pay extra bucks for the online pass?

Bringing in mind the first leaked front cover that mentioned that CE will contain an online pass, I conclude that the standard version will not have it and therefore we'll have to pay for it.

Hope I'm wrong, only time will tell.

Gaaah how did I miss this? I only saw the galaxy at war part of the thread title from the forum home page and ignored it assuming it would just be more nerd tears.

This sounds great.

That's a pretty minor impact though, verging on a technicality, unless you assume the single-player alternatives will be comparatively more difficult (which basically means the single-player alternatives would have to combat-oriented as well) and/or somehow more time consuming in the end (i.e., time spent doing co-op stuff would have to be significantly less in order to say it's "easier" on that score).

Jack I'd pin as having OK odds of permanent squadmate status though, if for no other reason than Casey Hudson liking her. We'll see!

Also: she's an LI.  Might up the odds a bit.

Oh, yep. Good point.

Guys, don't have your hopes up. Thane is also a LI (together with Jacob and Miranda)and we know he is not on the squad.

Not to be completely offtopic, I must add that if coop is a chance to play as female turian or female krogan, then it is a nice thing:) Maybe not the best thing ever, but still fun.

No, a dev dropped in earlier to confirm it's included in both editions.  Finding it is a pain though, because he was using a personal account without the handy "Bioware" tag.  It's buried somewhere in the middle, I believe.

Hence the "might".  I imagine it's one of the factors they considered when determining squad composition, but not a decisive one.

Hmm, good question.  I don't think any difference would be drastic, but there could easily be some use of less detailed textures and dropped effects to keep performance up.

I remember reading that. I have the feeling that what he said meant that both editions will have the ability to use it and not that standard version owners won't have to pay extra.
Correct me if I'm wrong though!

Now you making as much a big assumpt as the people on the other side of the fence ...

with easier means you have more optioon to accomplish the goal. If you like CO-OP then you got 1 more avvenue if you don't get max readiness level on your own, either because one didn't have the skill or due to story related choices that you wanted to make / have made in the past.

This is what I'm thinking.

I won't say I'll not buy the game -but I certainly won't pre-order. If the ME3 sp-campaign doesn't get anything other than stellar reviews I'm waiting for the bargain bin.

I protest Bioware's decision to add ME3 co-op. gameplay. It is very much against the spirit of Mass Effect.
