Mass Effect 3: Galaxy at War and 4 player co-op multiplayer announced

Also, if it's just three - four co-op missions on slightly altered locations from the compaign, I'm seriously thinking they only made the multiplayer because of the EA origin thing. You know, not being able to play the full game if you pirated it. Oh, and also to put it on the box. Remember, EA can easily use it's technical know-how about multiplayer in mass effect 3.
Maybe sounds kinda paranoid, but due to the nature of origins I think it's justified.

If the single player is nothing short of amazing, and I mean utterly mind blowing, I suspect BioWare will receive a fair amount of hate mail.
To me at least, this franchise is story-driven franchise, and I have a hard time seeing how multiplayer could make the story any better. Quite the opposite actually.
Oh, well. Back to Deus Ex. Cheerio.

Now, onto the main topic:
I am.... shockingly intrigued by this system. This surprises me more than anyone (though I was always of a 'meh' mind regarding MP). Co-op is definitely preferable to deathmatch, at least in my mind. That said, I will have to await further details before making a judgement either way. The length and depth of the SP campaign will also affect this, but that isn't something I can judge until the game is released.
That said, if MP is done well it can actually have the effect of expanding the ME-universe in a way not seen before. ME has always been about Shepard being a big guddamn hero, galavanting around the galaxy, fixing people's probalems (sometimes by shooting them), and doign typical Bioware protagonist stuff. The inclusion of MP in the form stated can actually have the side-effect of broadening the perspective of the ME-universe beyond that of merely Shepard, showing us events that are occurring alongside to her/his adventure. The fact it is optional is a bonus, but for those who enjoy MP or simply want to experience life on the galactic front line, it could provide an interesting story-setting counter-point.
TL;DR: MP in this form has the advantage of expanding the conflict beyond Shepard, seeing it through different eyes.

I'm interested in making my own character. (That seems to be the only fun part of this so far.)
Ditto
But what are the chances of deep customisation for all the different races?
Just how unique with my Salarian look? Will my Batarian look any different to the common stock?
I sure hope so

I got few questions though:
1. Will mp go parallel with sp to achive galactic readiness? In short: will achiving maximum on mp render "going extra mile in sp" unnecessary? I wish to do both, but if mp/co-op will affect sp in a way which I'll be cut off from certain mission/s flagged as "achived" than I wish to know that prior launch of the game.
For me sp campaign is the most important factor, but I'd like to take the advantage of great fun in mp as well.
Thank you.

The point at which that'd kick in would depend on what the total amount "readiness capital" available for acquisition in SP is. Or alternately, how large the SP margin of error is. It may be an SM type of situation where you'd have to want to screw up.
Well it seems difficult for them to make it so it's not either too easy for people who play multiplayer or too hard for purely SP players.
Of course, they'll probably make it so the happy kittens ending is easy peasy for everyone.

Is this why the devs have been so coy about answering the questions relating to female aliens in ME3?

Well, Male or Female, humans seem to be the only species with a huge amount of diversity. Can't really tell the difference between the other species.

This has been said a lot, but I hope that we eventually get the option to play the co-op missions offline at some point. I really don't want to hear the XBL kids screaming at me because I'm not playing my character 'right'.
If it will be integrated with Origin, there might be a gazillion filter systems which will let you join your friends or specific groups and whatnot. Bots may work of course, but since the main game is SP-only, who'd migrate to multiplayer without the intention to play with others?
I mean, will playable races really be that much of a deal? Some stat changes, sure, but no new gameplay mechanics. Same TPS thing.Yeah, thanks for the contributiononelifecrisis wrote...
Wow. That's a pretty impressively epic logic fail even by internet standards. You managed to misunderstand an extremely simple question and use a cyclical argument all in one go.
i´ll do it , why? , well to see the missions and see how it works and refflect on sp , and i dont need/want to play with "earullez99" to do that, if i´ll like to play with "BWisthebest33" or "icookmycat15" ill go to play BF or DS
Exactly. I'd like to experience that content without the whining children on Xbox Live who seem to think it's their job to tell me how I should play the game.

Do we have to "purchase" these two separately as DLC? or are they part of ME3 package (as free DLC)?
How many missions in co-op mod?

if you are a true ME fan and want to see more of the world, more of the story and immerse yourself as deep as possible than you know, very well, all bioware did with this co-op feature is expand the world and reveal more of it to us.
the fact that you can play it with your friends is great, and being able to play as a turian is something i wished for since the first mass effect.
this sound promising, thanks bioware. i don't want to run my mouth but i'm cautiously optimistic at this point and eager to hear more details.
believe me when i tell i'm one HUGE piece of ME fan. but i can honestly say that IMO those of oppose this have no claim to cling on. all the "oh the SP is compromised" and "**** this isn't COD don't put deathmatches in" and "it's gonna ruin our game" claims are completetly discredited in this F.A.Q. 1.) MP is developed by bioware montreal 2.) the rational portion of ME's fans were right to predict a co-op mode 3.) it's ENTIRELY OPTIONAL and boasts what ME is all about, CHOICE. so to me, you nay sayers are much like religious fanatics, clinging to old habits, scared ****less of change and refuse to open your mind and embrace advancement that is clearly smart and enriching.
i seriously hope you stop being over-protective and prejudiced and in turn give this a fair shot. you have to always remember that as much is we love ME, no one loves more than it's development and management team. they are they ones who created it, they are it's mother and it is their child. and i can't imagine the would do something to harm it or detract from it, simply to cash in a little more buck. not to mention that story based co-op is hardly catering to 12-year old COD kids. like some of you have tried to insinuate bioware is doing by bringing in multiplayer.

Smart Bioware. You can obviously tell they've been at this since the start.
And I get to play as a turian you say? I approve.

The only person not winning here is possibly Shepard who is still limited to a squad of 3 while those playing in co-op can have a 4-member squad.
It's Shepard though. Shepard could kick ass alone if necessary.
