Hi guys!

Dragon age is great but as an oldschool BG player I feel a bit left in the rain concerning the progress on the battlefield. I miss this nice small window of BG telling me how much damage I did, whether my critical hit was successfull or whether the enemy is still weakend by my spell.
Of course there are these numbers rising but they are sometimes easily missed. An example: While battling an ogre I cast weakening (this lvl 1 entropy spell, forgot it's exact name). What is it really doing? How effective is it in terms of reducing the attack roll?  How long does it last? Should I reuse it 30s later or is there time for another fireball?
Did I miss more detailed information somewhere? How are you guys handling that?

cheers! :o

You didn't miss it, and they're not planning on ever providing that sort of information via a patch or anything. :(

Hmm, that's kinda strange. Why not? I mean, at least the information of how long it will be lasting is simply crucial. I don't like wasting precious time with an unnecessary spell...

The reasons they have given are:

-Since the duration or damage of a spell can be variable based on your spellpower and your target, they think a precise tooltip would be confusing at best and borderline dishonest.

-It would take too much work to go back and put those tooltips in now regardless.

-A combat log would increase the system requirements.

-They just don't think it's necessary to "be effective."

Euhrm:

I see the tooltip problem. A simple log would be fine. Since they are actually using this values in the back for calculation they should be easily available. It wouldn't be necessary to provide it as a function of willpower, a simple value would be enough. And last but no least, system requirements? A simple text based combat log? I have some basic understanding of programming myself. If your hardware can cope with the workload right now a log wouldn't decrease the fps to any significant degree.

Anyway, since most people wouldn't look at it it's probably simply no worth the manhours to implement it. What a pity...

Pluss it would take away from the more REAL TIME feel of the combat. Just be happy you can hit pause and move to other chars to direct there actions in combat and than unpuase. Most spells recharge tend to be longer than there actual effects so as to not allow you to double up on effects (unless cast by diffrent chars). What I would love to see myself is more special crit effects and such. LOL the Ogre and Dragon get the best, along with deheading lesser bad guys with a crit kill, but more visuals would be nice. That and change some of the clothing and armor mods so that they don't look like the same four armors repainted.
