Who says you need internet? Hopefully if they have local co-op then you can just play with a friend.stonbw1 wrote...
Gongon, I just read the Editors report on IGN on MP and that's pretty much sums up their opinions. Notwithstanding, one thing that scared me was their suggestion that MP would be used to collect resources to be used in the SP campaign, in lieu of scanning and Mako-ing. That would be horrible for those of us that don't have internet.
Which brings me to ask the question: WIll there be local/couch co-op? Because if there ins't, I won't be playing the co-op, because I would then have no reason to. Why would I want to play with random people when I can play with my friend on one console?
To Bioware: Don't be DICE. Don't make terrible, terrible design choices that instantly turn off players from half of the game. Like not including any sort of local/couch co-op.

Just goes to show that you truly cannot spell ignorant without IGN.
I cant believe people are completely ignoring that it is an ALTERNATIVE method of getting the same level of galactic readiness. Other, more knowledgeable websites have already confirmed that the resources you will be acquiring, are in the form of weapons and troops, similar to what you did in DA:O.
Seriously, spend as much time reading the official FAQ as you do reading the crap that IGN pumps out, and you will stop worrying.

This. Actually, if there's no Splitscreen, then I probably won't ever play the multiplayer, but it would be fairly interesting to see what the bots are like if there are. There probably won't be, because EA and co. can't make a game splitscreen if their lives depended on it.Shadowfang12 wrote...
Is there the option to use bots if we don't want to play online?

Will there be some sort of voice-chat system or will players be forced to utilise third-party programs like Ventrilo/Team Speak to communicate effectively with their team-mates?
I really don't want to be forced to type in the middle of combat.

I believe it has been said somewhere that the difficulty scales depending on how many people are on the team.. so will it be scaled right down playing the co-op missions solo? They have made a point of saying they will be hard to do solo, but to what extent will the scaling make it viable?
Good question!
I hope the player has some control over the difficulty settings (when playing solo). It would be pretty bad when Arrival would automatically scaled down difficulty from Insanity to Normal (or something) because Shepard has to fight on his/her own. I think it can be quite cool to try and beat a couple waves by yourself without gimping difficulty - dying isn't a bad thing (in games of course

Q) Will Origin be required for PC owners to install and/or run the game, either SP or Co-op? IsaacShep
A) According to the ME3 EULA on Amazon, yes, it is required for installation. Link (PDF) Found by N0-Future
Note: I am currently investigating, and testing, legal methods which would render Origin's snooping behaviour null and void. So far, virtual machines require too much in hardware terms (and have their own limitations), so sandboxing the application is the next thing to try.
Origin required = no sale for me.
Oh well.
Take care Bioware, enjoyed your games while they lasted - but after DA2 being a complete mess and EA forcing Origin on PC gamers I just can't be bothered with your sellout mindset anymore.
Chris - you've been an interesting community rep all these years. A bit of a zealot at times and completely unammusing for the most part.
*To the Dr.'s that sold out to EA. Shame on you both. You sold out for nothing more than a couple of extra bucks and lost all ability for your company to remain competitively creative. EA wanted you for SWTOR - nothing more, because they think that game will be a cash cow of milking potential.
*To Mike Laidlaw - thank you for ruining the Dragon Age franchise in one massive rushed sellout swoop. It's good to know that there are still people as dense as you in the industry thinking you have better ideas than your predecessors even after your experimentation fails, you still defend it to the death.

So.. why has this rather informative thread been de-stickied/buried a few pages back?
Good question. Either an official thread has popped up to answer all the questions,
or
The people who have derailed the thread from being a FAQ, and decided it was to be a general "I hate Origin/MP" rant thread.
Or it could be because I dont have as much free time as I used to, and not keeping it up to date with the 500001 miniscule drabs of information being released by the 500001 different sources.

Bumping, as many of these questions are reappearing on the forums.
And again. Either a re-sticky, or some real answers would be nice.

I'm wondering if the Multi-Player Characters will have a choice of origin stories - similar to what we had for Commander Shepard: Spacer, Earth-born, Colonist ), and psyche profile: ( war hero, sole survivor, ruthless ) - or something comparable. The notes to date on Bioware's Official MP page are fairly brief and just mention that there will be "a satisfying story experience."
Part of that experience could be to provide a background and connection to places in the Mass Effect Universe. This would give the MP Characters more depth and prevent them from feeling like blank slates that appear out of the blue.
Here are some sample ideas just for place of origin and career background...
Species Place of Origin Possible Career Background
Krogan: Tuchanka - Krogan Colony World Mercenary - Private Security - Clan Role
Drell: Hanar planet Kahje - Rakhana scavenger Corporate Security - Merc - Hanar Special Services
Asari: Illium - Thessia - Asari Colony World - Citadel Huntress - Merc - Corporate Security - C-Sec
Salarian: Sur'Kesh - Salarian Colony World Regular Army / Navy - Merc - Private Security - C-Sec
Human: Earth - Human Colony World Alliance Military - Mercenary - Corsair - Corporate Security
Turian: Palaven - Turian Colony World Turian Military - C-sec - Mercenary - Corporate Security
Quarian: Migrant Fleet - Outcast - on Pilgrimage Fleet security - Quarian Volunteer Corps
Geth: Geth Collective Special Assignment Unit
Volus: Irune - Volus Colony World - Citadel Homeworld Defense Force - Volus Volunteer Corps
Batarian: Khar'shan - Batarian Colony World - Omega Merc - Hegemonic Forces - Irregular Volunteer
Hanar: Kahje - Hanar Colony World - Trident Self-Defense Forces - Security Services -
Warrior-Knight of the Enkindlers ?
Having psyche profile choices adds extra dimension too, - I'll consider that another time.
