I took Aveline and Isabela with me for my first playthrough, will take Varric and Fenris next.

From a quest perspective it seems all characters get a different collection quest (Isabella collects pirate medallions, Sebastian collects...recipes for some reason, etc) which leads to a character specific item, but only Isabella and Aveline have "real" quests.

Finally got through my first playthrough of MotA!

I brought A romanced Anders and Templar Carver with a sarcastic FemHawke, and this combination does not disappoint! Their dialogue was very well done, and I loved the bickering back and forth between Anders and Templar Carver, felt  very genuine.

Anders and Templar Carver both have quests and they were pretty neat, I really enjoyed some of the lines said by Hawke during Anders quest, Im not sure if the line was specific to sarcastic Hawke but it was funny!
I definetly recommend this combination!

First playthrough was a variant of my conventional party.
2-handed Warrior Hawke
Bethany Elementalist/ Force Mage
Merrill Primal/Entropy
Tallis for Roguy goodness.

Second Playthrough was more story oriented. I love Aveline and Isabela's dialogue.
Mage Hawke Elementalist/forcemage
Aveline Full Tank
Isabella Rogue
Talis, More Rogue.

Second play through was the harder of the two, obviously.

Out of curiousity has anyone brought a (romanced or unromanced) Fenris and Bethany for MoTA? & is their combination worth while?

I was thinking about bringing a romanced Fenris during my 2nd play through of MoTA but in Legacy I brought a romanced fenris and circle Bethany and their coversations were really boring and lacking a compared to the other companions, even with Varric their

I brought Merrill as LI but the result was the same as in Legacy. Nothing. So do not bother.

Yep, have played through a lot of the DLC now and this combination does indeed seem to have more substantial content than everyone else. There also seems to be a lot of effort paid by the writers to their banter -- one of which made me actually laugh out loud, which I was surprised by as I generally feel apathetic to both characters. So, well done writer people.

Has anyone done a party of Merrill(LI) and a warden Carver? I ask as i did a Isabela(LI) and warden Carver and there was some interesring banter about Merrill.

No, the main reason to bring her along is to help with fights on higher difficulties.  The problem with bringing Aveline and Isabelas is that they synergize better with a mage than with a warrrior, particualry since Tallis takes up a spot so that your party is rogue heavy.

I just read this thread and i would like to bring Isabela and Aveline since it seems they are the only companions to have "real" quests, but my Hawke is an archer rogue and i wonder if the difficulty would not be too hard without any mage, especially as i play only in nightmare mode.

What do you think?

Pack lots of Health potions and Mythal's favor nades to start.  I also think that there is some cross class combo potential between Aveline's shield bash and explosvie strike.  As I recall, most of the archer stuff exploits BRITTLE, so you may have an issue there.

Every companion has its own side-quest, which consists in collecting three objects. Ater that the game highlights the location of a character-specific drop that can be worn only by the character whose quest you completed.

I am playing with my finished campaign F!Hawke Blood Mage .. she romanced Fenris & I brought him & Varric with me on MotA ... I have flirted a little with Tallis & Fenris seems to act jealous about it .. also noticed that when Tallis questioned me about whether I had a husband or not, that Fenris was very curious to know about that as well .. seems to be wanting to know more about our future together perhaps ... I am having fun so far with Fenris there ... let me know if you want to see screenshots of the dialogue so far ... (I am still on the hunt part)

I don't know if anyone else got it, but my romanced Fenris gave me a lot more then simple jealousy dialog- I got several Hawke/Fenris banter moments that were downright sweet, especially after what happens mid-way through the game.

I took Varric and unromanced Fenris, and I kind of expected Fenris to not have much to say, but boy did he like to talk! If every companion-combo banter is as lively as these two, then this DA adventure is a winner.

Do you have any screenies? I have mine, but wanted to see if I missed any dialogue with my romanced Fenris ... he sure was a chatty elf this time!
