We have, actually. Or wait, since we stopped making adventure games. Or wait, since we started making RPGs. Or wait, since we started doing more action RPGs. Or wait, since we started doing premium modules. Or wait, since we stopped doing D&D games. Or wait, since we decided to start making sci-fi games. Or wait, since we got bought by EA.
If you really think about it, according to the internet, we've been "declining" since the first Baldur's Gate.

Heh, I think this sums up our wonderful BSN quite well. While on the topic of your decline, any chance you're interested in a Jade Empire 2?

Now with the news of kinect and multiplayer in Mass Effect 3 i believe my fears are being confirmed that Bioware has stopped being the story driven RPG developers i use to love.
I don't quite understand how incorporating Kinnect or multiplayer equates to poorly written story.

Still I may be biased and i'm certainly not aware of their future intentions towards certain sections of their old fans.

I have said it before and will again. BioWare has been in decline since you stopped making giant robot mechwarrior like games and began catering to the RPG crowd Why did you ever start pandering to those people that like things x, y, and z?
Clearly the giant robot crowd are the height of gamers and you should strive to implement every feature and mechanic each and every fan of that genre wants.

They are probably in the ascendant at the moment (in fact I wouldn't be suprised if sometime in the future EA changes its name to Bioware,) however they do seem to be moving away from games i'm interested in. But then again most major developers are doing so, seems to me unwise fiscally however, us old time rpg vet's are quite numerous and have quiite a lot of spending power.
Still I may be biased and i'm certainly not aware of their future intentions towards certain sections of their old fans.
Its the nature of the beast.
There was a time I could look forward to universe conquering 4x games (Pax Empira master of orion), squad based turn based tactical games (X-coms), big giant ass robot shoot them ups (all the mechwarrior games) space flight sims (Wing Commander and the star wars one).
Tides they come and go. You might not get the quainity of your preferred games like I did back in the 90's but you will still get some quality.
P.S.
Shattered Steel 2 do it in your fashion BioWare but take a hint from BattleTech: The Crescent Hawk's Inception and the other old old swchool battle tech games. I think they paint a great base for you to do a RPG companioon based party game like you do. Kinda thing Xenogears where its both the people and the big mechs fighting with all that story.
Just dont pull a disk 2 of Xenogears.

In other words, the existence of those resources for a game is arguably dependant on MP existing for that game - no MP, no magical general-purpose extra resources for SP.
As to the 'Bioware LIED to us!' claim, I always look to this disclaimer:
Chris Priestly wrote...Keep in mind that nothing "quoted" is 100% guaranteed. We are still developing the game and features change, we adapt, refine and improve. Just because you think it is there now based off an old interview (or even a new one) that doesn't mean it will or will not be in the game.I only point this out so people don't say "But I saw in a thread that "X" feature was confirmed". NOTHING is confirmed until we ship.

As to MMO? I don't care that much about The Old Republic, but I hope if it does well at SOME point there might be more money invested into the Dark Age of Camelot products, and possibly a console KOTOR 3 way down the line.
Jade Empire 2 would be cool too, but wish in one hand...

Please - you guys obviously sold out when you abandoned the Mech Simulator genre for the cash cow RPG market. Mech Simulators died because of you! All the hardcore mech simulator players were let down by dumbed down features for people who lacked reflexes like "pausing".

Oh well. I'll just get back to playing DAII and eagerly anticipating the release of ME3 now.

Now I don't know if they are in decline they may be making a ton of money for all I know, but my little short affair with Bioware may be coming to an end. The games are becoming very simple, much like most shooters that bore me to death these days and for me at least there is not much excitement over their releases. Will get ME3 to see this through but after that my interest is waning.
CDProject is looking good but there is not much of a replacement for scifi.

DA:O > DA2
ME3 looks liek it will be a dissapointment.
Still not enough to make a call yet, I'll wait till ME3 is out. But it doesn't look promising from where I'm standing.

The only part of your statement that is anywhere close to being right is that DAO was better than DA 2. ME 2 was incredible and a huge improvement over ME 1 and ME 3 is going to top even that.

I would be fine with that. The world needs more giant robot games. I would like more giant robot RPGs as well.

Yup, this pretty much perfectly sums up my opinion on Bioware's direction with the Dragon Age franchise.Addai67 wrote...
It's certainly true that almost nothing that's come out of the DA universe since Origins has interested me, especially the latest stuff with the anime, Facebook game and web series. Kinect and MMO is also the anti-fun as far as I'm concerned. I just ignore such things, but I think it's true that it could end up being distractions that take away from the quality of the singler-player RPGs. It's great to draw in new audiences, but then those audiences expect something different than the things I value in a RPG, and the devs are creating for them, so the cycle continues.
This is evident to me in DA's writing which since Origins has a tone that seems much different to me than the original game, and is making me start to think my liking of that game was a fluke and more to do with the books it drew inspiration from (Song of Ice and Fire) than the actual writing team. Which is fine- different strokes etc. I just need to adjust my expectations that I'm going to consume them more like a throwaway movie than a literary experience that really captures me- which is how I found DAO.
