In all fairness, Tallis (being affiliated with the Qunari) wouldn;t really have any reason to know the intricacies of Chantry belief.

And the thug with the knife to his throat probably wouldn't launch into a detailed discussion of theology. "Well, actually, Andraste was the prophet of our Maker, who created and then abandoned the world when the Tevinter Imperium rose into ascendancy. Then when the Magisters entered the Golden City …"
It's an error, but not a major one.
Of far greater concern is how lame that axeman was. An embarrassment to two-handed warriors, he was.

The Qunari rock? She apparently has grown up in Qunari lands, or was captive there for a long time. Is she really supposed to know the particulars of a different religion? This is pseudo-medieval, where they don't have the History Channel's 24 hour marathons on blessed Andraste. Ask the average Fereldan what a Qunari believes. "A cue what?"BubbleDncr wrote...
It also bothered me at the end when she asked about, "Your god here's called Andraste, right?" It came off to me like she didn't know who Andraste was, which led me to wonder what kind of rock Tallis lives under. And the guy's like, "yes, blah blah blah," when Andraste....isn't their god?
But yea, overall those were minor annoyances. I'm looking forward to seeing where the series goes.

I just can't help but wonder and imagine what the series would look like if HBO produced them, "Game of thrones" comes to mind since they (writers, creators of Origins) admitted they had inspiration from it.
Off-topic a bit, coming to work I heard on the radio that the filming of the second season for "Game of thrones" started filming in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Since I am from Macedonia and we used to be in the same country with Croatia (Yugoslavia) therefore I know about it well, I expect the scenery to be nothing less but gorgeous, especially Dubrovnik and the locations that it has for such story.
Then I start to think about the locations, monasteries, mountains and villages my country has, and I think it's perfect for Ferelden. So if this thing rise in popularity I welcome the team that produces "Redemption" to scout my country, I think they will like what it has to offer. Also I would love to be in at least one scene... OK I know I am going overboard now with my fantasies, sorry about that...

I liked it.More qunari lore is always a good thing, and I was a big fan of Hercules/Xena, which this production reminds me of.
me too. when i saw the trailer ... the battle cry of Xena came from my mouth... and then after watching this episode... i was kinda excited about next weeks. and more lore is always good... the nails did creep me out some...

I liken the experience as if you are watching your best friend or loved one giving a big speech to a crowded arena. You have this anxious feeling that something bad is going to happen to them or they are going to get embarrassed because they are going to mess up or something will be off.
I will support it by watching the rest of the series, but the first episode felt very strange for me.

I don't remember the part where she was the daughter of the Maker. Odd that.

Bride, son... Even for Christians, you might say some of that was not widely believed or even conceived until after Jesus' death. So I think it's a pretty compatible idea that Andraste could be a prophet who is in latter followers' minds is pretty much divine or close to it. They pray to her like deity.Herr Uhl wrote...

And like people have said, it's nitpicky to think the guy with a dagger to his throat would say "Well actually..." and launch into a sermon.

Except that it was too short. Waaay too short. And Tallis is awesome and everything, but she doesn't seem to understand 'covert', which you'd think would be bread and butter for an assassin. This is probably why she was apparently demoted to cook at some point.

Also, about the whole Andraste thing, didn't Tallis say in MotA that she grew up in Chantry lands? I kind of recall her explicitly saying she wasn't born into the Qun, so she should know all about Andraste.

But the whole episode lacks edge, in general. The direction, as far as the writing and type of characters, is going hand in hand with what Bioware wants, I think; meaning a more "lite" story, not-so-dark atmosphere, with smart-ass protagonists that are half serious-half joking all the time.
Not what I had envisioned as the best potential for this world when I bought and played Dragon Age Origins. But it is what it is... *shrugs*

On a related note, until today I had absolutely no idea who Felicia Day was, but after watching youtube clips of her at various conventions (especially the "carpet" question at Blizzcon), she seems cool as hell. To take that kind of crap in stride and laugh about it -- I wish more people were like that.

I thought it was alright. If it wasn't Dragon Age, I probably wouldn't watch it, but it is, so I will.
