I enjoyed it.

More lore, good story, new enviorments and a great new character in Tallis.

Stealth section was ok, but nothing great tbh, could have been better. The knockout ability there and the guards non reaction to it, along with the hiding in light shadows just didnt feel right to me.

Oh, and Tallis has the best looking costume of all the DAO and DA2 companions, realistic yet stylish and sets her apart from the rest. Takes notes :D

Hi Everyone,
So when do you guys think would be the best time during the main story to play this DLC? early in the game, middle of the game or more towards the end? before or after which Act?

Thanks

I must've missed something my first play through because I got the whole armor set on my second. Pretty decent stats and scores. It's very....red. LOL!

I enjoyed it all the way through. My only gripe is; not seeing the guards moving on the mini map, when doing stealth. It's a small thing, but a real pain in the rear-end.

I had a wonderful time playing the new DLC. It was very interesting and I loved the music that played at the party. I look forward to future DLC.

I look at it as Fenris being really, really bad at public displays of affection.  Also, since it takes place in an undefined time period, it could be before the reconciliation, even if you're playing the post game save, there's a note after you finish saying it's been a year since the events of the DLC.

I made a specific point of starting this DLC in Act 3 after Fenris and Hawke are all squared away romantically. There are 1.5 party banter dialogues that reference their romance, in addition to his standard "I am yours" line that he says on-click. I say 1.5 because the first one I read/heard was sort of vague, and depending on your PoV can certainly be taken multiple ways, I just choose to read it in the romantic sense. The second dialgoue is very blatant, and I can't really elaborate in a non-spoiler forum since it was tied to the events.

I'll just add that on the very rare occasion that Fenris chuckles, it is absolutely adorable.

:(  I'm pretty sure I got the .5 banter, but not the other one.  Does it require flirting with Tallis?  My Aggressive Hawke did not care for her, but I'm willing to metagame if it means I get the Fenris content.

I know this foum is MoTA, but did any of you know that there is a "Secret Boss" in Legacy???  After you get the warm orb in the Carta hideout, run all the way out to the beginning until you see the statue.  You have to kill the shadows on the sides first or they will keep respawning, then have fun with the new boss.

Very good BioWare!!!!!

Very good DLC, I found it especially challenging on Hard and Nightmare mode and the puzzles weren't free giveaways either. It's nice doing something other than the generic hack n slash and the dialogue was amazing. I am sad to see that Fenris was once again rather neglected however, IS HIS AND HAWKE'S LOVE NOT STRONG ENOUGH!?

The boss fights made me have to actually micromanage for once and i had to give Hawke heal for the first time since I've played this playthrough which just goes to show how easy i was having it until this DLC.

Tallis was ADORIBLE but i found her kinda derpy in fights, her assassinate was to put it blunty a face stab. It's like back stab but she stabs their face! BEING INFRONT OF A DRAGON NEVER GOES WRONG! Oh wait she's one shotted...

Overall i loved it to death, my main complaint is Fenris not having alot of dialogue :(

I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was great to see a DLC that puts as much emphasis on dialogue and non combat activities as it does on combat itself.

Tallis turned out to be a really interesting character with a nice twist. I enjoyed using her unique specialization, but even more the insight she gave us into a certain culture. Felicia Day did a great job with her and I hope MotA isn't the last we've seen of Tallis in Dragon Age games.

The stealth gameplay was a nice touch. While it's not as detailed as in Fallout: New Vegas or Alpha Protocol, I feel Bioware is on the right path to adding something interesting into DA. My only complain is the weird line of sight issues the guards seem to have. Sometimes they'll spot you as soon as you enter a hallway, and at other times you can practicaly stand right in front of them and not be seen. I think giving them a shorter line of sight, but making it wider could help here. Also, could the "sap" effect last a few seconds longer? I feel the guards get back on their feet much too quickly.
My suggestion for improvement would be to maybe let us use the environment and other npcs to create diversions and temporarily draw off the attention of the guards, as well as give guards bigger patrol routes.

The puzzles were great. Both entertaining and challenging in equal measure. I only wish the new armor sets had a unique look..

The party itself was great, what with meeting familiar faces and Hawke and Tallis' voice actors did a great job here. Too bad we couldn't dance with Tallis or keep Hawke's new clothes.

Another great thing was the distinct look that the Orlesians had. It really sets them apart from the Marchers and Fereldans. The Harlequins were particularly impressive. It's nice to see a more diverse look when it comes to different races and/or nationalities and I hope this is a trend that will continue in future games.

Together with Legacy, this is one of the best DLC's Bioware has created to date, and not just in Dragon Age. Here's to hoping future content will be of the same quality, if not better.

If you have a completed the main game, why not launch into it at different stages! You're not confined to playing this DLC only once, so experiment and decide for yourself when is the best time to dive in there.

MoTA was absolutely fantastic! It's an 8/10 from me, I recommend even the DA2 haters to give it a try!

On a side note though, there were rumors of a new dagger-throwing spec tree for Rogues even outside of the DLC? I only completed this on my Warrior, so were the rumors true?

I didn't see any new rogue throwing specs when I leveled up.

"I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was great to see a DLC that puts as much emphasis on dialogue and non combat activities as it does on combat itself. - Master Shiori above"

I have to totally agree. I liked the fights that there were, and I loved the puzzles and dialogue. And the weird totally different look of the ghasts. (I keep giggling like them today). Also loved the animations for the Orlesians, and the clothing. I wanted to plonk a couple of NPCs over the head and steal their threads. I liked Tallis' party clothing much better than Hawke's (at least for a femHawke). And the banter with your companions was great, wonderful writing. Loved Anders' fantasy convo. I did a lot of laughing out loud with my first play through, and am looking forward to running other Hawkes and companions through.

I liked the stealth sneaking mode, and hope to see it implemented more, and better in future games (My understanding from seeing a ML post is that this was a test to see how it was received and that they are planning on improving it if people liked it....so yes please!). It was so slow!!!! and the Guards really needed to be a little....brighter.

Question, was there something about those pictures that appeared during the puzzle quests I was supposed to do something with?

I played through almost at the end of Act 3. Took Fenris and Anders. The battles at that point weren't too difficult as an assassin rogue. Tallis did one heck of a lot of dying. And I agree, we're told by an NPC to flank the wyvern, but she attacks the face....not a healthy way to stay alive.

I've got some mixed feelings about MOTA after finishing.
On the one hand: the story is worth the money, most definitely. The Orlesian lore is deep, for which the creators deserve all kinds of praise, and me hating the Orlesians for their accent is just a side-point. The graphics and love for detail were really heart-warming. I was in absolute awe with the estate while I was creeping all across it. It was magnificent. The fights were much more interesting than usual. The new kind of puzzles was exactly what I needed. The clothes the Orlesians are wearing - gorgeous. I wish my Hawke had anything else than the ugly shirt he's wearing at home. The cameos at the party were one of my favourite parts, especially seeing some old friends from DAO. The dialogues were just to my liking, too. I also loved the thing that I consider THE Bioware trademark: options. Different ways to achieve the same goal. Thank you guys for putting so much effort and love into this. It was truly inspired.
On the other hand... The reason why DA2 is not my favourite game out of all BioWare games I have is that when I finished it for the first time (sided with the mages, while not being a mage myself) I felt confused and helpless. Terribly helpless. No matter what I would have done, things would always have ended in a desaster. I felt used and drained of power, betrayed. I didn't feel like I've achieved anything at all, rather the contrary of that. In DAO I become the Hero of Ferelden all due to my efforts, skills and sacrifices. Here I lose everything, no matter what I do. Well, MATO came through once again: upon finishing it I felt just as raw, betrayed, used and completely helpless as back then. I wasn't surprised that Tallis lied to me. If there is anything I've learned in BioWare games is that everyone is always lying. But the Qunari and their ways are completely lost on me. I had no idea what Tallis was talking about all through the prison conversation, so I chose the witty replies to find a path through this weirdness. I only followed her later to see through the quest, not out of conviction, not even out of goodness of my heart. Actually, I'm not sure I even like her. I've heard so much about Felicia Day in the last few months and I've watched so many interviews with her that when I look at Tallis, all I can see is Felicia Day, and because of that she fails to convince me completely as a character. Too much Felicia Day about this DLC, guys! Try, I don't know, LESS advertisement next time?
This is about it. Tallis was more of an annoyance than an excitement at the end of the day. I didn't get her believes, didn't get her reasons for doing what she was doing, didn't get her whole character as a whole. And in the end graphics and fights don't make a Bioware game for me. Story does. Characters do. Feelings do. That's why this DLC didn't make me like DA2 any better.
Thinking about it, though... I'm not rejecting Qunari as a whole. But DA2 made them strangers to me. It wasn't so hard with Sten. I understood him and his ways. I enjoyed talking to him, I could predict his reactions. When he came up to me and said I have no business being a fighter AND a girl at the same time, I knew exactly what he meant and I knew that he didn't mean it as an insult, but as a challenge. By the end of the Blight Sten was convinced of my worth. But now the Qunari are out of my grasp, which is rather sad.

So all in all: to my personal taste the MOTA is a fantastic technical achievement, but the story isn't entirely convincing.

Say what you will about DAII's game design and whatnot, but the writers are the funniest available in game development. Seriously. The ME parody, the self-aware dialogue with Merrill complaining about spending a "ridiculous amount of time in Kirkwall"... It's all so great. Delicious, even.

Agreed. The banter was amazing.

Yep. I've chuckled at stuff in Bioware games before but I actually laughed out loud a few times in MotA, and the bee sting thing had me in tears.

I haven't finished MotA yet (I think I'm almost there tho), so maybe when I get to the end, some of my opinions will change. But currently:

1) Like has been mentioned, it very much annoyed me that my femHawke wasn't wearing a dress. Tallis also wasn't wearing a dress, but her outfit at least fit her in an appealing way.
2) I liked the stealth mechanic, but I think it could have been paced better. There were a lot of sections where there were no guards where I just had to slowly sneak through several rooms in a row. I think there should have been at least one guard per room.
3) Since this is non-spoilers, I won't get too specific, but I felt the initial motivation to help Tallis was weak. I didn't really feel like I had any real reason to help this person, but here I am...helping them.
4) Too much Tallis and not enough other companions. Like I said, I haven't gotten to the end yet, but it feels like this is The Tallis Show, guest starring Hawke and company. The problem is, like I said above, I have no reason to actually help Tallis in the first place, yet I'm helping her on a heist that's in itself, a bigger adventure than anything I've helped any of my other companions, who I actually have developed relationships with, in doing. Yes, she can be funny, but when it comes down to it, I don't care about her. And the more I find out about her past, the less I like her. Like I said, I haven't gotten to the end yet, so maybe there'll be something mind blowing that'll change all my opinions about her, but at this point I just find myself resenting her. I would have rather have had Tallis hire me to do this for her, and then just done the entire adventure with my regular companions instead with her showing up at the end and me confronting her about anything I may have discovered along the way. But maybe my opinion will change after I complete it.
5) I got really excited about the cameos at the party, but then was disappointed when they were all pretty meaningless.
6) Witty Hawke had some AMAZING lines.
7) I liked the puzzles, but the tile ones with the fire really bothered me. I ended up just looking online for the solutions, and I have not idea how I was supposed to figure them out other than randomly flipping tiles till something happened.

So far, I liked Legacy better, but I'll see what happens when I finish it.

The Rogue set armor has some decent stats and looks pretty cool too. With my mage, I think I'll stick to my item pack DLC gear. I just can't get behind wearing Templar robes. Haven't played with my warrior yet so I don't know what that looks like or the stats.

I enjoyed the DLC immensely, but there are a few things I'd like Bioware to take note of if possible:
  • The shift from day to night in the DLC felt very.... odd. Hawke's at the party in the day and then suddenly as soon as he does his thing it goes dark, with no sense of a real passage of time. Perhaps the farther in Hawke goes the darker it gets, and stays dark should a person backtrack?
  • The hunt felt alive, but the lack of wildlife in the area made it feel not as alive as it should've been. It would've been something to see deer, squirrels, bunnies, halla, and whatever else in the forest. And even being hunted by the hunters!
  • Orlesians using Mabari and then calling Fereldans Dog Lords is not only hypocritical but makes me wonder why that would be done by Bioware. Unless the hypocrisy was the intent, there should've been other types of hunting dogs. Maybe bring in some Chesapeake Bay Retrievers (but give them a different name)?
  • Bioware, if the player is going to be unable to prevent something or take something (like some people want to do in MotA), could you at least have Hawke attempt to take it by force or some other means and fail? A few words and then saying "Welp I've done all I can do" when the person says "No" doesn't really cut it.

Finished it. It just made me more angry about the main game. It basically showed that they were still capable of making an interesting story with interesting combat scenarios, but they just chose not to before everyone ****ed at them.

My Feedback:

This is how DLC should be made. Between Mark of the Assassin and Legacy I have no reason to hesitate in buying story DLC from BioWare ever.

*The story was good and had a some unexpected twists.
*Tallis was a fun and well developed character with great quirks.
* Absolutely loved Tallis's knife throwing ability, however I would have liked to have seen a knife belt on her or something, shows where she is getting all those things.
*The garden party had great humor.
*The sidequests for Aveline and Isabel was interesting
*The banter was as great as ever.
*Love the wyervns.
*Stealth was interesting but I wouldn't want to do it alot.

-Didnt the ghasts: reminded me too much of hobbes from Fable games.
-Would have liked to see some better swag to be found.

Overall this DLC is absolutey amazing and hope to see more content like. "If you build, they will come..." with money in hand (the quote part is from Field of Dreams for those of you that haven't seen the movie.)

Alright, here's my feedback/review. First off let me say fantastic dlc DA2 team. Thoroughly impressed. You’re getting better with each new story dlc release. I think both Legacy and MotA are better than any singular quest or plotline in the main game.

The good:

+ Tallis. I must admit at first I was skeptical of the character but she won me over for sure. Great character and surprisingly deep. Very funny to boot. I’m very excited to see more of her in the future (especially considering how heavily it was hinted at in the dlc. Not very subtle).
+ Length. Good length on this dlc. It probably took me over 4 hours. That is good value to me.
+ Replay ability. I could see myself going back through this dlc many more times because of the choices and to bring along different companions to see their interactions.
+ Bringing old characters back. I was stunned to see so many characters come back for a cameo appearance in this dlc. Though I would like to see them play a more prominent role instead of just short cameos. Keep raising the bar in this area.
+ I really enjoyed the boss fights.
+ I’d still like to see dlc that more closely ties into the plot of DA2. But MotA has a very good self contained plot with a lot of twists and turns so it deserves credit.
+ Really genuinely funny dialogue. Especially if you select most of the sarcastic choices. Hilarious and well written dialogue all the way through the dlc. Hat goes off to the writers.
+ Really well detailed and unique environments. Huge improvement over the main game. The dlc had more “life” to it to me.

The not so good (because nothing in the dlc was what I‘d call “bad“):

- Loose ends. There are still residual loose ends left to tie up from the main plot of DA2 that have yet to be addressed in dlc so far. I’m very hopeful they nip this issue in the bud prior to DA3 as I think it could detract from the plot of that game. Hopefully in the next major dlc release.
- Stealth and puzzle gameplay. I’m likely in the minority on this topic. But stealth and puzzles are not my favorite things to do in games. The stealth section was really tedious at times trying to get past some areas. And the puzzles gave me endless fits. Which I suppose is a good thing because it’s not supposed to be easy. But it’s just not a game style I enjoy playing personally.
- For some reason I got the sense that the companions weren’t as into it as they were in Legacy. Or at least some of them weren’t. I brought along Bethany for mine and she hardly ever said a thing. So much so you may have forgotten she was even there. Whereas I brought Isabela in the same run and she had a great presence about her throughout the dlc.
- *SPOILER* This is a nitpick, but I was little disappointed a certain red haired bard didn’t play a more prominent role. I got super exited seeing her early in the dlc and then was let down that she never showed up again. Especially with the way Tallis was talking to her. It just seemed like something was going on, but nothing materialized. I’m also kind of curious why you bring back Corrine just for a couple lines of dialogue in a dlc. I’m inclined to think dialogue for this dlc isn‘t all she recorded. *END SPOILER*

The verdict:

9/10

I gave Legacy a 8 as I thought it was great in its own right. But I think MotA is a little bit better so a 9 from me. I consider Lair of the Shadow Broker for ME2 to be the best Bioware dlc to date and I give it a 10/10, so that is my measuring stick for reference.
