i like the way you're thinking only i can't seem to get past the terrible VA of miss Day
i just let her die and can't seem to care to reveive her i just ignore her most of the time
and strangely enough it makes the DLC a lot more fun without her
like i said earlier i hope this was the last we've heard of Tallis or at the verry least have an option to Not join the party
and not have her forced upon you like now or Tali in ME
i want to decide whom to take with me and who to ignore sort of like Leliana and Sten in Origins

I don't want to side-track this Thread in any way, but I want to get both DA2 DLC's but DO NOT want to deal with EA's Origin client.
For those of you who bought at least one of the DLC's for PC: Does it download through the old system or have they shifted over to requiring Origin to download DLC's?
They just use the same system as the previous DLCs.

That said, I still enjoyed Legacy better. I love the creepy, mysterious bits that have dark implications for the future. What can I say? I really love everything that Jennifer Hepler has done with Dragon Age (Anvil of the Void!!!! SOOOOOoooOOOOOo creepy and GREAT).
I prefer Legacy, but it would be lame if every DLC was of the same flavor. MotA was a good variant to appeal to different types of players, while still being enjoyable for everyone. Kudos Bioware!

So, like I said, a bit of fluffy fun which doesn't, IMO, add much to the lore at all. Yeah, maybe we get a definition for one tiny piece of the Qun, but it doesn't really add anything. It's just fluff. Entertaining if you like DA 2. If you're already ticked off about the original game, my guess is you'll only get more steamed with MotA. IMO, YMMV.

This! Maker did I hate her in this DLC. Silly part of BioWare to even want to make her a part of the DA universe...
such an annoying Mary Sue!

But yeah, I think most of us would have liked to have seen our female characters get at least the same kind of attention from the art department that the NPC got.
Is that really out of line? Really?
I imagine that, short of putting femHawke in a walk-in closet with a selection of outfits to choose from, there's probably nothing we could have put her in that wouldn't have been considered ugly to someone. And even then, probably.
And I thought the suit looked pretty good on a female PC, anyhow. The taffeta would've been better, of course, especially if we could add a rustle-rustle noise whenever she walked around.
I was actually thinking that at the beginning of the DLC, you could offer FemeHawke the Choice of two outfits! Hi, my name is Carmen Willow, and I am a fashionista!!!!
I would prefer satin next time, David.

I like the Dlc except the endfight. That was the worst fight in the entire game , a piece of crap made to waste the time of the player. 6 waves and the health of the endboss combined with his pet was like the doubled amount of that of the ancient rock wraith. Did anyone actually liked this fight? I doubt it.
I liked It, In fact It was one my favorite things about the dlc.

I loved the look of the wyvern... absolutely amazing and I hope to see more of them in the future. The harlequin was also terrific to look at but not as much of a challenge in combat as I'd hoped.
I really enjoyed the opportunity to explore more forest areas as well. Stealth was a fun thing to add, but I really don't see myself using it more than once, mostly because it's too slow for me.
Puzzles were mostly pretty easy, but the picture puzzle was all about memory and that was nothing but a giant pain in my backside. Had to look up the solution... ugh.
Loved getting a little more info on the qunari and seeing a new look for them. I just can't get enough of the kossith and really hope in future games, should race selection ever be brought back, we get to play as one.
I liked the ghasts as well. Though they really should have been blue though, like a xvart.

I got this DLC not too long ago and played through it twice (once as the champion and before being the champion). It was OK, though I did like Tallis' abilities; they seemed at least a bit more realistic than the teleporting kills that other rogues perform in the main game. I thought the "Cloak" and the "Cover Up" abilities were still unrealistic, though they were an improvement for the rogue class nevertheless from what DA2 offers. I do like the "DropDead" abiltiy, that is a nice twist.
Having played it though, I found it not as satisfying as Legacy and still seriously lacking any real choice, meaning it has an effect on the plot(s). Though Legacy seemed to tackle the random spawns and enemy drops and these carried over to MotA, they didn't fix any player agency that was (still) lacking in Legacy; this is very disappointing as this is something I feel is what is a big part of what an RPG is. Some of the fights were way too hard as well, especially the "Sky Horror" (IIRC) battles; it took me nearly 20 minutes to defeat these folks and that is still unacceptable on the harder settings. I was a level 14 on one run and a 22 (as the Champion) on the other to add.
MotA didn't have the lore or story backdrop that Legacy had, so it falls behind in a big way when compared; it felt tacked on. I played MotA the first time when I got to the mansion party and then proceeding on doing the stealth theme; it was OK at best, but the stealth movement that Hawke made was clunky looking. It also was very unrealistic, since it was (supposed to be) stealth, I could still sneak past enemies in what appears to be a completely lighted area. (I note Splinter Cell gameplay when I compare).
The puzzles were fun if not a bit easy; I thought Legacy's puzzles were harder to be honest, as the puzzles were too obvious in MotA. Tallis also seemed to lack facial expression, especially in the first parts of the DLC. Her walking/running movements looked weird and when she was standing still, her feet would slide from side to side as if she were moonwalking. Also, when at the party, I noticed right at the first few scenes, that Tallis would still have her daggers attached to her back, though Hwake was without weapon. This would either fix itself, or the daggers would be removed if I saved the game and reloaded it.
Anyway, after getting to the end each time, and no matter whether I chose the path that I did, the ending turns out the same, and that is completely unsatisfying. If offering choices are supposed to make some kind of difference, than at least reflect that in the choices, instead on making the ending the same no matter.
Also,on the one time I played it where I could romance Tallis (which was nice by the way), it has to have one of the worst kissing animations I have ever seen; totally awkward looking to say the least; it made the awkward sex scenes in Origins look reasonable. The kissing scenes in Origins are still the best ever. Also, the hunting grounds looked more like a difficult golf course, than anything indicative of somewhere that someone would hunt in the days of yore.
There is one nice thing that my wife liked, she figured out how to have Tallis as a companion in the main game

I liked the new environment, but I see where you are coming from. There was a small part in the wilderness where a chest or some other object was hidden between some trees (you had to walk through a short curving path). A deep, dark forest with narrow paths like these, with the trees obcuring your vision, and a few clearings with sites of interest would be a nice setting.

Yep, not only that, when nearing the end of the hunting grounds, you'd hear Tallis mention how there is total destruction and no wildlife (so to speak), yet there was nothing in the scenery to indicate that; it looked like the same hunting grounds overall. Totally poor writing or scritping on Bioware's part. Hurried DLC at best!!

You clearly pay a lot of attention to detail, which it good! LOL at your description of the hunting grounds, dead on!
Sadly, it is not mentioned a lot (we tend to focus on the negative, naturally) but in contrast to the not-so-good hunting grounds, a lot could be said for the rest of the environments which were absolutely superb!

I disagree, it was verey repetitive between the Hunting Grounds and the rest that was outside the underground and Chateau Haine. Even the underground areas were uninspiring as they seemed the same as in DA2. The enviroments didn't change, although Tallis mentioned that there should have been utter destruction near the point before you see the alpha Wyvern at the end of the hunt. I just find it poor scripting that this can be written into the game but not visually represented. Even some of the dialogue was poorly written.

I feel exact same in almost every regard. Very well put.Elana Eden wrote...
Liked:I truly felt the stealth portions were a missed opportunity. Did anyone ever play Thief: The Dark Project? Remember how Garrett the thief could control his ground: He could shoot fire arrows when he needed light, and shoot water arrows at torches when he needed shadows. When it came time for Hawke to sneak around, I felt she should have been able to use her own talents for this end.
- Fleshing out the qunari as a group. Tallis presents a different face to them; she actually convinced me they don't all need to be killed. She also presented a mystery I hope gets fleshed out later: The qunari have agents? In Thedas? What precisely are they up to?
- Loved to see Orlais, and the new scenery. Nice change of pace from Kirkwall and the repetitive environments.
- Good change of pace with the gameplay. However...
As a mage I should have been able to scatter the guards with a tempest or lightning storm, or spell them to sleep, or freeze them with a glyph. Indoors I would have liked to drive them outdoors by amplifying the heat with my own fire.
As a thief I already had the stealth ability, and I don't know why she couldn't have used that version. On top of that, she had the gas. If you downloaded the rogue pack or Legacy (I did both at the same time so I don't know which one lets me use the bow and arrows) then it would have been nice to be able to aim for the torches if you needed more shadows.
I'm guessing a warrior could have Varric/Tallis/Sebastian let you borrow one of their potions. I never play that class so I can't really comment.
It just seems to me that the sneaking around portions could have been an opportunity to let each class shine.
I'd also like to put out there that I think the writers did a good job with Tallis. She had enough character depth that I certainly don't perceive her as a Mary Sue, and from a combat perspective, she was quite fragile.
I suppose she played a more prominent role in this ~4 hour DLC than any other party member in virtually any segment of the Dragon Age games so far, so the spotlight-stealing aspect of a Mary Sue I can agree with. The option to flirt with her gives her a wish-fulfillment quality as well, although I never actually chose the flirtacious dialogue options, so at least this aspect of her is purely optional. However, I find Tallis' most prominent personality traits to be that she's manipulative and idealistic. This holds true in DA Redemption so far, too; with almost every character she interacts with, Tallis takes advantage of their situation in a way that furthers her agenda, and frequently is not forthright with people she puts in danger. This isn't really the type of behavior I associate with a Mary Sue.

I also loved Legacy and Mark of the Assassin (well, just killed the wyvern but I love it so far... awesome job modeling Felicia Day), however... There is one glaring problem for me. The way the new loot is handled. Seriously, why wasn't it all made "Improves with Level-up" instead of this crap where it is tailored to the level it drops at? I understand crap being tailored, but major DLC items should IMO be all Improves with Level Up. This was a great feature that you have only touched upon.
I even use a few mods to make the Armors of the Champion, Templar's Regalia, and a few other "high end" DLCs and such Improving, but really I think those elite items should have been made improving already, not just Fadeshear and the Lion of Orlais (is it even, or is that another of my mods?)
EDIT: OH and another thing... Orelsian Harlequin outfit (With Improved Level Up!) for rogues please!!!!

I agree with this, I didn't want to hurt her, but Hawke letting her just walk away with the scroll is totally unbelievable.

All in all I would give this DLC a 5 out of 10. A nice quest with a few utterly immersion-breaking moments.
