This reminds me of the dozens of silk dresses I'd use for my PC in Morrowind. Never mind that they stayed stock stiff, I did miss the rustle-rustle noise, now that you mention it.

You know, I just find myself sort of baffled. Who decided that girl gamers don't care about clothes? Isn't BioWare supposed to be the company that has a record percentage of women on-staff? Were none of them around to speak up and provide a clue, when the whole "awww, the girls won't care if they don't get nice clothes for the party" idea was floated?

Maybe they were all on holiday.

I think you're taken this far too personally. I am a woman gamer and the outfit did not offend me at all.
Sure it looked a little ill fitting but it was not logical for Hawke to sneak in a dress.

I'd rather have the developers focus on gameplay/lore/ and environments that clothes. If I want clothes thats modders are for.

Meh, don’t speak for me. It doesn’t tell me anything of the sort. It was such a miniscule thing really, imo. You really think an outfit for femhawke should be a priority?

It does look out of place if not ridiculous...

Well if nothing else the pancakes line was my absolute favorite snarky!hawke line.because it shows how she kinda lives in her own little world half the time, also I liked femhawke's suit.

Also I forgot to mention. Despite Tallis completely stealing the show I was impressed by Felica Day's performance. I got the impression that she really enjoys Dragon Age and that she could easily keep up with the lore junkies of BSN. It's nice to see a professional as passionate as the fans.

Right, so, I find I just have to say one more thing.

I'm not calling out David Gaider particularly here. I really appreciate his work; I think he's brought the industry forward for women gamers and gay gamers and trans gamers, etc. I'm a fan. I'll stay a fan.

But, still, for a fan like me, who has been supportive of BioWare throughout the split in the fanbase that DA2 wrought --

-- for me to say, in what I thought was a pretty sane and respectful way, "hey, actually, this one thing seriously ticked me off," and to be answered with "well you guys would've been pissed about something anyway, there's no making you people happy" --

It's disheartening. I'll just say that. It's disheartening.

I don't think any girl gamer is unaware of the fact that we're always going in second place. Because of our market share, obviously male Hawke will get the art resources first.

Sadly true but BW games are the last to be blamed of that, after all that's why I love them. Besides... That "market share dominance" may be lot less than you might think. I believe lot more guys play for female character than girls for males what evens the difference by a decent amount.

Not sure if this has been said before, but I was slightly disappointed with the Felicia Day facial animation. Loved the character, but her face was not proportionate. I've seen Day in interviews and photos online and I don't see the similarity. Unless, Tallis's character animation was designed to "sort of" look like Day, that would be the only excuse I could think of for poor facial animation.

Now who's being disingenuous?

That's neither what I said nor what I meant. If you wish to take it that way, I suppose that's your call, but all I said was that while I understand your desire for clothing you personally found more appealing that's not going to be true for everyone... and certainly it's not true for all female gamers, which you attempted to speak on behalf of.

Indeed, you implied that any girl who does (such as those who might work at BioWare) must have been absent or ill to think such a thing. That's a little insulting, as I said, and I'm calling you on it.

I think we'd have been more than happy to have had the resources to give femHawke a unique outfit (we'll ignore just which unique outfit that would have been, and whether or not that would actually make anyone happier). Settling for having an outfit that works for both genders is not indicative of a lower priority towards female gamers in general... and I'd really hope the majority of female gamers don't place such a high priority on their clothing that the lack of an outfit pretty enough to please everyone overrides everything else we do to be inclusive.

I can say that without claiming your personal opinion is invalid, or suggesting anything about your character or current state of being. Thanks and good day-- I think I'm done talking about this particular topic now.

Like I said earlier in the thread, I got why F!Hawke is wearing pants. I have no problem with that, and I don't think there's a big uproar about it.

My personal issue was a palpable feeling of female characters being nothing but an afterthought, as soon as I saw the outfit. The shirt DOES look silly, it's not fitted well to the model, and Hawke looks like a bobblehead in it when she's moving. Maybe it's not the biggest issue, maybe it's not something I would even mention, if I didn't know this feeling really, really well, as a female gamer who wants to play female characters.

And maybe I would have found something else to nitpick if F!Hawke had gotten her own model and texture for the party clothes. OR, maybe I would have commended Bioware on attention to this detail, and making me feel like my only way of playing your games isn't an afterthought.

Well, you are talking about how a character isn't in the attire you want. Sort of hard to take that seriously.

When Stolen Memories came out for Mass Effect 2, I thanked Christina Norman on Twitter for FemShep's dress.  I know not everyone likes it, and NO, I do not think something like that would be appropriate in this DLC.  But I was lauding a dev for giving us attire.  Should they only take positive feedback seriously?

I honestly wouldn't have posted about this again, if I didn't see people who don't get the issue.  It's not the model, it's what seeing the character as subpar based only on choice of gender represents to me as a player.

Come on. You had the resources. You chose to spend them on an NPC instead.

It was a choice. At least own up to it.

Like you, I'm done here. Congrats.

I was rather disappointed in the actual story, in Legacy we got a very juicy bit about Grey Wardens and darkspawn, even something on the Golden City and the like. For this there wasn't anything as... big (not the word i'm looking for but I think you catch my meaning).  As I was playing, through all the dialogue and whatnot, It felt to me like MotA was just a way to advertise Felicia Day's character Tallis.

I also didn't like the fact on the stealth part where I had to slowly crawl/walk my way through the WHOLE DAMN THING! In actual stealth sometimes a person is required to duck into corners quickly to avoid being seen, which my Hawke was apparently incapable of doing. It was just a pain to do so in the spots where there wasn't so much as a guard or servant around and yet my Hawke was still being outrun by snails.

What I DID like, was the boss fight. It didn't feel as cluttered as Legacy's boss fight and it gave me a run for my money. Some of the areas were also well done and didn't make me feel deja vu. Some of the cameos were nice as well, although you could have made the encounters with them last longer.

This.  It wasn't the outfit itself (I loved the pants), but the fact that it was so poorly done.  I usually have a pretty bad eye and/or low standards for these kinds of things, but Lady Hawke's outfit was just.... meh.  It seemed very poorly fitted to the body model.  Not being able to look at my character without wincing did decrease my enjoyment of the party scenes a bit.  The design choice isn't the real issue for me; it was the poor implementation of that design choice.

All the great things in this DLC and we are discussing Marrian's clothing? Uggghhhh.... This is why I hardly come here anymore....

I suppose if she had a dress and it was green instead of purple half of the players would be incensed? Or if she had a dress then people would complain that not all females like dresses? Ho hum...

Congratulations~! you officaly have more common sense than 95% of the forum users in this hoval of childish tempertantrums, my advice: don't go to the ME3 boards unless you want to see some epic stupidity over the co-op

and apparantly i'll have to lok elsewhere for some info, heaven forbid what pretty outfit femhawke wears doesn't take full priority....ugh....

Just wanted to add my Kudos to Bioware for an outstanding DLC.

Personally not a fan of puzzles in RPGs (though I know they are a staple) but that's just because I am so bad at them - do you know how embarrassing it is to have to call your youngest child in to solve one for you?

Loved Ms. Day's vocal work - laughed hysterically in all the right places and got pleasently stomped repeatedly by the baddies.

The only real criticism was the ending; again, we were faced with a "non" choice - no matter what you said, how you had treated Tallis, it still ended the same way. The "problem" we came to solve was, well, unsatisfying and lacked credibility.

But honestly, that is a minor quibble - great job by everyone involved with this project. I hope you sell a zillion copies of this DLC and that you have more planned for us.

I just finished my first playthrough, and I am gearing up for another because somehow I missed some stuff.

But anyway, MoTA was very entertaining. Felicia was awesome, and omg the Orlesians were just as I imagined them. Of course, I wanted to strangle them all but that's part of the fun;)

I was pleasantly surprised by the stealth. It's not quite on par with Ezio, but I would love to see this element worked with and included in further games.

Also, the fights were so challenging - those sky warriors or whatever...what beasts! But, I loved the difficulty, and this definitely topped even the fun (for me) of the Legacy boss.

Wonderful DLC, and I'll do many playthroughs. Of course, now I will start craving new material because we just need more - and please, I would love to see Tallis again if this is at all possible.

I had to download this and play through it really fast before leaving for college, and I made it to the end in just under three hours. Call me a fanboy, but this was a fantastic DLC; great variety in environments, excellent puzzles and stealth sequences, hilarious moments, excellent music that I don't remember hearing before that reminded me of the dotHack games...I could go on. And did I mention the -hilarious- moments? I'm a bigger fan of dialogue than combat, so this DLC was more attuned to my tastes than Legacy was.

I admit I wasn't expecting much from Tallis, as I'm ambivalent about Felicia Day, but I thought she was great and I really wish I could have kept her in my party afterward, but alas, she and my aggressive femHawke did not get along very well - I really hope she shows up in Dragon Age III. My Hawke fit perfectly into the scenario, as did Aveline and Merrill (who, by the way, played the role of Love Interest very well, much moreso than in Legacy). Not to mention Prosper, who was -such- a badass.

I'm waiting until the next time I return home (probably in three weeks) so I can sit down and slowly work my way through it and appreciate everything -- I had to skip all the Codex entries and some side-quests in order to finish it before I had to go, so I do feel like I was missing out on some potentially interesting tidbits.

And femHawke's outfit was okay, I thought. Looked good on my character at least, but like some people have said, I was secretly holding out for a dress a-la Stolen Memory. Perhaps a future Item Pack geared toward pure aesthetics for me the fans who like playing dress-up with their Hawkes? ;)

All in all, despite my very quick runthrough of it, I thought it was a great DLC. This will go very well with my Foppish Dandy sarcastic!Hawke...

(If I have to offer criticism...the Ghasts were annoying enemies. Not really difficult, just time-consuming to kill and not interesting to fight. Like Mabaris Mabaries Mabari Mabarae.)

Oh, and in terms of "criticisms" - the stealth was an interesting device but I used a rogue character and deliberately invested in putting points into "normal" stealth just to be ready for this DLC - and was a little disappointed that it was irrelevent to the new mechanism. I appreciate why it had to be done this way (for warrior and mage characters) but still, it was a little jarring that my rogue who can disappear in the middle of combat, suddenly cannot use one of their class skills to evade a couple of guards...

Anyways, again, minor quibble and I loved the DLC. Please sir, can I have some more...?

Just finished Mark of the Assassin. This was a really solid piece of DLC, and better then Legacy for me. Felicia Day did excellent work on Tallis, and she was enjoyable in a quirky and cute kind of way. The last battle was very enjoyable and creative (More of that Bioware in future releases!) The best part was the sarcastic/funny comment Hawke made at the last boss towards the end...had me in stitches!
Overall I would give this a 8.5 out of 10, very enjoyable, and i even enjoyed the stealth part because it was different and broke up the monotony of battle.
